So, I had a horrible decision, either A) Go to Slayer on the 2nd stage and watch their last ever British performance, or B) watch a band called Tool, who I only ever heard their songs on a guitar hero, but always read how there music is fantastic, and with their music being slightly difficult to get hold of, I never listened to them properly. I chose B, and. Did. Not. Regret. It.
I had a choice between seeing Slayer (a band that I have seen 3 times and only impressed me third time seeing them), or Tool, and Tool are a band I had never seen but always wanted to... I agree, best decision ever!
The Bearded Wonder you made the same sort of choice I did, I just went to see em cause I thought fuck it they’re the headliners why not when the only songs I heard from them before were sober and stinkfist, I went in not expecting much and instead being blown away, greatest experience of my life
i had to leave mega early from download so i didnt even get to see most of slayers set and only saw a small amount of tool i really hope they come back soon so i can see them
Fuck yeah dude. It was a hard choice. I was always with TOOL but I respect you had a hard call to make. It did not disappoint. I'm seeing a lot of complaint it was in "daylight" but we both know how it went. Epic.
Yeah they were coheadline with Devo in 97. Funny show. Devo played Whip it for their 3rd song. Most left after that. Drunk people screaming for them to play whip it again. Lol. I was just wishing they would put Tool back out there.
@Brandon Burge Doesn't like the spotlight. He's very uncomfortable being center focus, plus he wants the band members to get looked at more than him. They deserve all the credit.
I saw them in July 98 and he was front and center..he doesn't want everyone staring at him when their music, lighting, and 3D stage show is first and foremost. The singer always attracts the most attention..

They looked like they really enjoyed themselves at this performance man, they hung around for a solid 5 minutes at the end waving and throwing stuff into the crowd with huge smiles on their faces. At one point I saw a little girl about 4 years old who’s either Danny’s family or a friends kid and he let her come out during one of the songs from the side of the stage and play drums next to him with these headphones on, really cool and humble guy. Such a sick set
@@Green-cd1np I hear the difference. He's said himself that there's a difference. Doesn't matter though. His voice is still amazing and still my favorite.
I was near the front on the left, I seriously had to see the guys live, but I felt like a right prick when they started playing a couple of songs I didn’t know 😅 good show though!!
I must have been 30 feet from this camera guy. The crowd energy was unbelievable, we were all singing until the end of the concert. The visuals were stunning. It was the most amazing experience of my life. the guy next to me thought they would open with third eye but I knew the heartbeat was a trick. He said he hoped they would play Jambi and when they did he completely lost his s***. They also used negative ions to open stinkfist which fitted with the visuals. What an awesome way to close the show. Such a professional band, they just turned up, wasted no time and just played.
I was at their concert in Kraków and man it was so surreal when while crowd were singing with them for almost full duration. I personally lost my voice at vicarious. Never have I ever had experience even remotely close to that
Mossimo Tiberi dude I 100% get you cause I was the same, I was half hour late to tools performance at download cause I never really gave em a listen before but thought screw it it’s the last show of the weekend and it ended up being the best live performance I’ve ever experienced They went from being a band that I knew almost nothing about to being one of my favourites of all time just from seeing em live once, give em a listen dude trust me when I say you won’t regret it a single bit
Seeing him live you finally see what he means about making the lyrics as another instrument. He sounds exactly as his recording studio albums do. Dude is a fucking legend!
saw them in 2000 at ozzfest and not seen them since am 33 now and just had first baby girl.watching this made me so gutted.we will get the chance again to witness tool.👍👍
I saw Tool in the daylight back in '93. Was Tool not headlining this night of the festival? Or did it get darker as the set went on? @earthlink76 Great video, thanks for sharing.
@@bradx9275 They were headlining, just in the UK for outdoor gigs curfew is supposed to be at 11 and it's summer solstice so the sun sets at around the time they came on but you still get residual light as it refracts through the earth's atmosphere. It went fully dark about 25 minutes after they started.
Maynard is absolutely on fire in these new live performances. His voice is stronger than it’s been in a long time. And he just seems so much more confident.
I love How Maynard is one of if not most enlightened artist yet he stands beside the drums not as a front man but just another member of the band.. and I don’t guess I ever knew just how short he was?
angelina blyth think with took it doesn’t matter if you’re right at the front or back, you’ll still get one hell of an experience with their performance and stage effects etc
I flew from Dublin on Sunday morning at 8 am to East Midlands.. no sleep.. no booze.. endured hours of rain and shite music (early Sunday).. all for the love of Tool, it was worth every second! Mind blowing show and performance! That was my 5th time seeing them and I think that might have been the best, sound-wise.. the sound was so f*ckin good.. I loved the stereo fx on the vocals, very trippy! Amazing how they can pull off such a massive sound from drums, bass and one guitar live!
I saw Tool in Firenze a couple of days prior to this show, and the whole fucking crowd went mad when Aenema started playing....watching this now literally gives me shivers so you can imagine how it felt live (great shot btw)...and it was my first Tool show...and I was with my brother who introduced me to them years ago....this fucking band man
well last time u saw them was ozzfest 2000 uk Donnington. was 15 am now 33 with a newborn. am envy so much.hope to see them again.they so fucking good.👍👍
I too was at the Firenze show, absolutely amazing. Tool was my first concert in '96 being able to see them perform at this level 23 years later leaves me fucking speechless. Cheers bro!
Think I was about 10 people in front and to the left of here, stood for a hour and a half by the stage to get a good spot; but I'd been waiting for five years.
I was in awe the entire gig. Among the best shows I've been to and there's some very good bands in the list. As soon as I saw Tool announced I was all over this like flies on shit... hot steamy shit that smelt glorious
Can someone tell me is it weird that I have only been listening to tool since I saw them in Amsterdam ... I’m a huge rock n roll fan but I haven’t thought of listening to anything bar tool ? Kind of crazy I never get sick of there songs
Completely normal response, and I've heard the same thing from new and old fans. Their music is so layered and detailed. I STILL find new things in Ænima to this day. Welcome, friend, and enjoy the long ride.
Was about 4 people from the front on Justin’s side. Such an amazing experience, waited for so long and it didn’t disappoint. I had a smile on my face for that long during the entire set it actually started to ache. UK tour soon please! 🔥👁🔥
No matter how many times I watch these guys perform live, part of me still can't believe they can actually do this. Amazing & wonderful; thank you for uploading!
Sunday was the best gig I've witnessed in person by far. Those fucking visuals were so on point!!!! I really hope that Download Upload some proper footage of the weekends shenanigans. Especially TOOL!!!! & Pumpkins!!! But mostly TOOL. Need to hear decent quality and see those visuals again!!!!
@@artemisiapile3648 Yeah it was probably a term of their rider as they're weird like that. Still holding out for the apparent album in August! Only been a decade and a bit!!!!! So good on Sunday!
The part at 4:08 and onwards absolutely blew my mind away, the kick drum and the bass really kick your ass in a live environment, and it was the first time I'd ever heard this song again, so it was an experience to say the least. Listen to it every day now. Saw it a few weeks ago in melbourne, australia
its one thing to sit and listen to their music but seeing that live and feeling their tone shake your body is something completely different they were by far the best
Lmao I actually went back to see if I could see your, a stranger's, head. I do believe that's yours haha. You had a right cutie standing next to and behind you.
This made me not miss concerts after the pandemic. The crowd wanting to be heard more than wanting to listen makes me want to run and burn it all down.
