Nicely done, emphasis on the"nicely"! If I had one of those, I would want to have it on display...maybe on my kitchen counter as a knife/scissors holder!

I've thought about it as a knife block. Perhaps one day I'll revisit the idea and make in a similar style, though smaller and taller

@sheilbwright7649
@sheilbwright7649 4 года назад
@@kuffyswoodwork I didn't want to appear negative but I was thinking of not having a base (except at the front till) to allow dust to fall through. In a humid climate dust clinging to metal is excellent if your aiming for rust.
@kuffyswoodwork
@kuffyswoodwork 4 года назад
No base was my plan originally, but the marking gauges and rulers are quite long so I would need make it much taller, or block off those particular slots. I'll see how it goes, but I don't have much of a problem with my tools rusting

Cheers mate. I probably need to buff the bits of Redgum. Currently they only have a couple coats of satin poly which muddys the surface a lot. A bit of auto polish should go a long way.

Hey Kuffy, I wonder if the water from the glue will activate the super glue? Very interesting project man. I love the shape and functionality. Well made video too 👍
@kuffyswoodwork
@kuffyswoodwork 4 года назад
There are a few things which activate super glue. Glen 20 is one, but I found them to be unreliable. I've never tried, or noticed water working to activate CA glues. I'll test it some time
@MakeThings
@MakeThings 4 года назад
Kuffys Woodwork from what I understand, the ‘activator’ is nothing but water. Super glue sticks so well to human skin due to the water we have in our bodies. Personally, when I use super glue, I’ve sprayed a little water and it seems to work fine. I’m no expert, it’s just from the little bit of internet information I’ve randomly collected on the internet, so take that how you may. If activator really is just water, I would think allowing it to come close enough to the glue as you squeezed the boards together would start the hardening process. Regardless, I enjoyed seeing you use it. It’s much better than my method of hot glue and wood glue.
@kuffyswoodwork
@kuffyswoodwork 4 года назад
Nice. I'll test it this evening. Hopefully it works because water is cheaper than activator 🤣

Lol. I did have a jumper on and we were in double digit temps most days. Though at work, we start at 6:30am, and on a cold frosty day, the packs of timber are literally covered in ice. That's when I get cold legs...because I don't actually have a single pair of work pants. 😂

Thanks for the great video. It’s the first time I have seen you work and I am impressed. What kind of saw is that you use? I’m trying to figure out how I want to build a caddy myself. I think that I want multiple smaller ones but I haven’t decided yet exactly what I want. I think I want one for joint making but there are times that use some of the tools for other projects too. I like that you caddy is easy to get the tool and easy to put it back.

Hi Don. My saw is a Chinese built sliding panel saw. It can cut full 8x4' sheets. Since making my tool caddy, my workbench has remained clear of tool clutter. I just need to figure out how to keep my bench clear of work pieces 😂

@Kuffy Do you have any opinion on the Ffritz an Franz jig? or maybe your video take on a build?
@kuffyswoodwork
@kuffyswoodwork 4 года назад
I do not have a video discussing the Fritz and Franz jig. I first saw the jig a couple of years ago, but by that time I had already been using panel saws for more than 18 years and I just couldn't grasp the usefulness of the jig. It seemed like an awkward thing to use just to keep hands away from the blade. With my initial impression being pretty poor, I haven't given it any further thought.

Great video however I am curious. My 'activater' goes off at 7.30 am. Your 'activater ' goes off with PVA glue. What is the activater that you are using? Cheers John
@kuffyswoodwork
@kuffyswoodwork 4 года назад
The activator/accelerator is Zap kicker. I put PVA glue on part of the work piece, and CA glue on the parts that the PVA missed. I would think that by combining the two glues, there will be some adverse effect's, but it'll be strong enough regardless.

Another nice build and a great idea. I bought a set of plans in appreciation for the videos you put out. Man you put some work into those plans. Is that a Mirca sander your using around 11:00 and if so have you had any issues with it
@kuffyswoodwork
@kuffyswoodwork 4 года назад
Awesome, thank you very much. Yes, my sander is a MIrka Ceros. It's a great sander. I've owned it for about 4 years and it has never given me any issues. Even the hooks on the interface pad still grip the sanding discs more than well enough. I bought it to replace a Milwaukee sander which vibrates something vicious leaving me with a weird sensation in my forearms for the rest of the evening. I'm told this sensation is something of a genuine concern in the long term.
