29:00 Earth was a victim of man's demise last time Maynard. Trump nuked a fault under California that caused the 7.0M Earthquake at China Lake Naval Weapons Base at Ridgecrest, CA in 2019. The earthquake cracked the Hoover Dam which leaked water under the upper mantle for two years and flooded the entire planet and sank all the land in the ocean. This time, Jesus was born in your memories and saved everyone from this fate in 2022. Per Maynard's request. 😇✝️💞
I do and all I get is the crooked confused "I got issues" fucktard face from them. know what..... I don't give a 1/4 of 1 whole fuck! It actually saddens me, and feel sorry for the people (sheep - SHEEPLE!! LMAO) that react that way. totally their loss and what a fuckin LOSS it truly is for them. lucky me I say..... spiral out fuckers!
I loved the Lollapalooza footage in there with all the homies. All these guys were friends. Layne, Maynard, Rollins, Zach and Tom, Cantrell, Claypool. It's like a big frat party of the most talented bff's ever.
So was MJK sexual abused? Cause I've always heard that but never actually heard him say it. Theirs obviously prison sex but if you listen to "H." he also says "I can still feel you touching me, changing me". I know it's about his son Devo but it's also about opening his heart again to truly love again because his son needs him to love him.
I remember the first time I heard the first two albums. I was at my Mormon friends house and he’s like “You have to check out this band, they’re my new favorite.” He put that in and it was like nothing out at the time (or since really). And of course he put on Prison Sex and I was just shocked and intrigued that I was listening to this song from the perspective it’s sung from. It hooked you deep immediately, especially as an angry, fucked up kid coming to terms with what the world is really like.
@@TheBlackswanwhite very good. cant stop listening to it. not my favourite though... hard to top Lateralus and Aenema. I prefer it to 10,000 days I think!
4:20... Since when did they have horrific album covers? Man, some people can't take anything that isn't 'normal' to them. Who wants to be 'normal' anyway?
Yes. Except that being different in todays world often buys you exile. Often buys you judgement and condemnation. Which can create a presence of darkness in your heart and mind. So being different today, although it Should be encouraged and admired, is more often a curse than a gift. It breeds anger and depression because of the reasons i mentioned.
All 4 of em are so authentic individually. Tool is just not about music, lyrics, videos etc it is beyond that - and whatever it ends up as: it changes you for the better. Soul searching - Heck yeah!
I imagine Maynard has had a lot of issues from his youth that torment him daily, given the way he views his world. He's not wrong but he is kind of absorbed by his negative lens he views the world with and quite frankly it created a ton of truthful and beautiful music. I love what he says about Tool videos being beautiful while gangster rap music videos being disturbing because those treat women like "dog meat". It's true and I still get that feeling sometimes in daily life that some things that people relish in are filthy and disgusting and doesn't convince me that humans are above animals. EDIT: I think I realize what it is about this guy. I think he has attachment issues. He never feels attached to anyone, that's what I find to seem negative about him.
That is not an issue it is a strength you only find it negative because your ego wants him to embrace you as a human being to feel accepted , to understand him, this is false. To be attached to something or someone only stunts spiritual growth he knows this even Buddhism teaches that, however it is the key to understanding the true self. He doesn't want to be understood and he doesn't like fawning fans /people yet can show humility. This is an advanced soul,he has given so much music/art to the world, why would he even want to be defined? If you go to around 7:30 he makes that quite clear.
Its nice to see someone else with similar views, i don't see why so many tool fans say everyone else are idiots.. that is just as ignorant as the so called idiots they are referring to. Stop being so hateful, your just preventing your own growth and understanding of why people do what they do. Not everybody see the way you do its not there fault... if you have such a problem with it try to enlighten them, don't reject them that's not fair
passionateandloyal 4 year old comment but true. 100% agree. I'm someone who likes to observe people's body language, their actions, words, reactions and such. I feel most people argue, fight and clash because they don't listen, don't have a very open mind, lack sympathy and empathy and more. It's actually quite easy to get along with most people but our egos get in the way a lot of the time. Bullshit that is stupid and should not be important at all. We worry about shit that doesn't matter and it gets in the way of evolving both as individuals and as a collective.
I never understood how it was construed as grotesque. There was some weird kind of fear about Tool in the 90s. The album cover of Undertow isn't remotely offensive, grotesque or whatever, but it was still censored. I don't understand that behavior then, and I don't understand similar behavior that still exists in America today.
so this was the undertow tour, first album opiate undertow engineered, sylvia massy, paul d amour bassist, then 1997 aenima new engineer evil joe and a new bassist justin chancellor, aenima, dedicated to Bill Hicks, rip xoxoxo
A great insight into an artist's (MJK) brain...even back in '93 Maynard/Tool seemed to know how fucked up mainsteam music is and where it's heading...nothing's changed...I think it's gotten worse!!!
Man, watching all of this so long after it all went down....to see where we are now, especially right now in the world and thinking about how hopeful and alive most people were in this country at that time. America before Sept. 11th, fuck I miss it. What the fuck happened to this world? What the fuck happened to music for that matter??
Just saw Tool in Charlotte, NC this past weekend -- my third Tool show. It was the very best ever. It's interesting to note how Maynard was once in front of the band, then he was a silhouette in front of a screen. Now he is almost unseen on stage. It'd be nice to see him a little bit more during the show.
I would not have bet that Tool would have been the band to last so long. In fact, for many years I just assumed they were done (between Lateralus and FI).
tool is fucking awsome! BUT, I have no understanding of why people worship maynard. or worship any fucking rockstar for that matter... "I'M so deep just like maynard, I'M so different just like maynard. he speaks to my soul. wahhh waaahhh"
Makes me sick, I feel the same way, what's to like about these insecure, smug, pretentious little giggling douchebags. The music is so mundane and safe, so boring, his voice is bland and generic.
