@@MrBcummings8521 I've never connected with Third Eye so maybe watching Preston react to it will get me to appreciate it as I should. I'm all for Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned though!
@@christopherlee74 God, I love Hooker With a Penis (the song...not the real thing...) Ticks & Leeches is a legit, massive Fuck You to their record label, and Hooker With a Penis is a Fuck You to pretentious fans. Tool is one of the few bands I know that are true artists. But Hooker With a Penis challenges the very concept of what 'selling out' is. Tool has none of anyone's bullshit.
You can't wait for a New album? Bruh, I've gotten married, graduated college, started my career, had two children, and got a promotion since the last Tool album.
Believe it or not couple years back I played a show with Danny Carey and his side band pigmy love circus. Getting to watch him play up close was like nothing else in the world, it was a beautiful thing
I’ve never cared about song reaction channels or videos. But watching this man hear tool songs for the first time gives me a new appreciation for the songs. Of any other channel, Preston seems like he’s genuine about what he’s saying.
Also gives me that happiness that can only be found introducing people to amazing music and watching them enjoy it and be excited about it the same as it did and does for you. Best way to start my day today and I agree with you completely.
i've been a tool fan since '98. been to like 10 shows, big and small. listened to every album a ton... you know the drill. Watching these songs with him has brought me to a whole new level of appreciation for the band. Especially regarding the sonic masterpiece that is their music. Hearing the depth of the sonic landscapes that I'd never noticed before. The production value of these records are unbelievable. I connect with the songs now in ways I never could prior. This shit is therapy, yo.
Hes the 1st i followed and my main music junkie... Only follow 2 or 3 other only cuz ole boy took much needed brake n hopefully some reflection... PRES for president✌👽
Lateralus originally didn't have this track, but the label wanted a 'harder' song to try and market as a single. They went back and recorded this. "Hope this is what you wanted/cause this is what you're getting". Also no radio station is going to play a song with that long melodic middle section.
Joshua Griffin Haha, and doesn't it always go, "I only like the early stuff?" It's pretty common for Tool fans to give 10,000 Days a lot of shit, but it's grown on me. I also wasn't as blown away as I thought I'd be when it came out, but I actually like it more now than I did...a bit strange. I think the next one is going to be another Masterpiece though.
From what I heard, the record label didnt like the fact that they didnt have many heavy tracks on this album, so they made them make a heavy track. Tool being tool, they made one firing back at them. Love this track, cant wait for the new album! Great job man!
When hell broke loose for the second and third time the grin on your face is so relatable i still do that when im listening alone even after 20 years of listening to them
If you want more dark and angry Maynard then check out Hooker with a Penis off of Tool's Aenima album. It's hilarious and, as are all Tool songs; awesome . Also, please do The Patient by Tool. It's so good and i really think you'll like it. Also don't forget Third Eye by them as well.
the scary thing is that this is your reaction listening to these Tool songs for the first time. Its only gonna get better and better the more you listen to all the songs. Welcome to the Tool Army. You will find all other bands irrelevant.
@@Valenya23 Not really. I'm sure that with as many people there are in the world, and as many people who are just now getting into Tool, that a fair number of them heard Intolerance before any Tool song. But I feel you. Sober was the first Tool song I heard, and it was when Undertow first came out.
Look man i sat here literally for going on 5 hours watching your reactions to all your tool song and man im just gonna say i fkn love it like i loved the band since 03!! Seen them 3 imws plus perfect circle once would love to catch the next tool show with you!! Feels like i know you bro..Thankyou
I love watching the evolution of new Tool listeners...truly. Tool really do have their own sound and it's such a good thing when people can realize that
"how do you listen to an 8 minute song, then listen to a 3 minute song after this?" He ain't lying. Welcome to the struggle we've had since 2006 :p I love watching you react to tool! Keep up the good work!
As a huge Tool fan, it's so cool to see these reactions. This band is on another level, deserving of all the praise they get. If you would, please do their song, "Hooker with a penis". Don't let the title scare you; it's actually about a fan he met at a bar that tried to tell him he was selling out. Needless to say, Maynard had something to say about that 😆 I promise, the song will rip your face off
I know it's been a minute but this was a slap in the face to there record label at the time. It's a back handed slap with a smile of a song. Thanks for the reacto.
Cannot wait to see Tool next summer headlining Download... Soooo excited...woo hoo!!!! Oh and Preston please react to Hooker With A Penis.... Awesome Tool song!!!
Aight bro, I love witnessing you experience the band I cherish with my whole being. You're hype about this music that very few people in my life enjoy is re-igniting my passion for this music.
If you want to hear more of those darker Tool songs, you gotta check out more tracks from Undertow. So far, the only song you've reacted to from that album is Sober. I would recommend Prison Sex, Crawl Away, Swamp Song or Bottom.
You have listened to Tool's darkest song yet........ "Prison Sex" I've always said Tool is the only band I know that has the ability to sound completely different and still be instantly recognizable.
Digging your Tool reviews.... had to subscribe. I grew up mostly a hip hop head and I listen to Tool more than anything else. If you get a chance, that live show is 🔥🤯
Well, what can I say, when you right, you right. It starts out instrumentally going off, then lyrically goes off, gives a little breather in the middle so you can withstand the end. THAT DUDE(Maynard)IS PISSED-and expressing it perfectly for us to understand and enjoy!🖖🤘🎸🥁🎤
Preston my friend none of tool is happy. Thats just the fact of the matter, the music is dark the lyrics darker. But the thing about Tool is they are teachers and inspire us to change and not be afraid of what we dont know. This song has been one of my favs since i was a child and even as an adult anytime im about to drop acid those lyrics “Hope this is what you wanted, hope this is what you had in mind. Cuz this is what your getting!” Play through my head. But not only during that time its just more profound right before the acid drop but during any time you decide to change or do something different you must ask yourself that question is it really what you want. I think if alot of us as humans did that we could cut out a lot of crime and wastefulness that we exude being a parasitic life form on this earth. But thats just my takeaway from the song. Glad you do this it really is a treat seeing someone else hear and interpret Tool songs for the first time. I watch some other reactions from you but these Tool songs like you said are emotional roller coasters and deserve the attention you give them. P.S - I have been a huge Tool fan since the first time i heard them in 97. And have watched a lot of reactions on youtube of them but there are songs that no-one had done yet and I believe you are my fav so I would like to ask you to react to any song from Opiate, Salival, and Undertow the songs we can exclude from that list are: Sober, and any song made after 98 lol A list of songs you should certainly do a react vid to are: Prison Sex, Swamp Song, The Bottom, 4 Degrees, Hush, Jerk-Off, Opiate, Sweat and many more id be glad to share with you And two covers the only two covers ive ever heard Tool play live or realease which both can be found on the live album Salival are: No Quarter/performed by Tool/Originally written and performed by Led Zeppelin and You Lied/performed by Tool/Originally by Justin Chancellor first band I forget the name of but i want to say is CREAM idk someone will correct me im sure. Anyways keep up the good work and keep spreading the only gospel worth hearing and paying attention to in the past 4000 years. TOOL!!!!
Nathan Baca i fucking knew it was Peach but i felt like a dumbass when all i seen was peach and for whatever reason (peach cream) i went with cream lmmfao!! Ty for the correction my good sir your a gentleman and a scholar dont let anyone tell you otherwise!!!! Tool and Gojira fo LIFE!!!
Thanks a lot, Preston!!! Now I'm addicted to Tool and this is because of you. Didn't heard about them before I saw a reaction video here on your channel. Thanks a lot again:)))
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! *Deep Breath* Okay, now that i got that out of the way, i can watch this video... EDIT: watched the video, i Love how he singled out the lyric "beat my compassion black and blue" as that is my favorite lyric in the song. also, i have watched quite a few of these 'reaction videos' and apart from a couple of channels, you can see the music just going right over their heads... but none of the music is wasted on Preston... he genuinely listens and especially with bands like Tool, and Pink Floyd he really *gets it* . which is why it is so great to watch him react to songs that 'we' the commenters really love ourselves, because we KNOW that he is not just glossing over the music, he is appreciating it as much as we do. a true music fan. Cheers, dude!
you have to listen to Lateralus as a single piece of work, try the Holy Gift version which is a re-ordering of the tracks, also keep up the good work best reactions on youtube
You say you gotta put this up there as one of your fav Tool songs, but personally I can't choose a favorite song by Tool. Because each song is so unique and different individually, I find I end up liking all their songs just in different ways and for different reasons.
