...and yet we still learn the lesson. Vicariously. (Whatever it takes) "pull your head out your ass and give a listen, he shouldnt have to say it all again" ...and yet we do have to.
Maynard is brilliant. Danny is one of my favorite drummers of all time. Sooo many layers. I have been drumming for 20 years and playing tool is always challenging
I'm in my mid 30s. I've heard many drummers. No one is better than Danny Carey. Period. I will argue that fact forever. If you did a scientific study on drumming, Carey would be the best of all time regardless of any metrics. Technicality, speed, accuracy, complexity, timing.
I highly reccomend listening to every Tool album from start-to-finish, uninterrupted. .....not as a reaction video suggestion, as a general life experience recommendation.
"Devour to survive so it is so it's always been" one of the greatest lessons and warnings any life form could learn and applicable anywhere in existence life has graced.
I think this is more relevant today than in 2006 when this album came out. Except now it phones, people are so quick to pull out their phone to record a tragedy/fight/someone getting hurt rather than helping. I hate when people do that. There is a time to record something and a time to help or get someone that can help. Then everyone is so quick to watch these videos, consuming them like crack. So in that way, this some very relevant today. Great reaction, great band, great song!
Tool is my all time favorite band: Their talent blows me away. Their lyrics are deeply profound. Love your videos. It’s incredible seeing someone else discovering their message and talent
Jamel! You hitting off the new year on fire with the Tool reactions! Vicarious is one of my favorites (although I admit, I say that with every Tool song).
I’ve been a Tool fan since 1st hearing “Sober” in 93 & I remember when “Lateralus” came out thinking….this is just too good 🤨it’s like they know something the rest of don’t ya know? 🖤
Viddy well, viddy well, it’s not my opinion it’s fact, it’s the greatest movie ever made, it’s pure art, we studied it in Philosophy in college which gave me such a greater insight and so much more of an appreciation for the story, and Burgess is wonderful but kubrick as always, made it the masterpiece it is!
HELLS. YEAH. This is one of my favorite Tool songs, and easily my favorite for the drums. Seriously, listen to that song again some time and just focus on the drums. It’s SICK. This was one of my all-time favorite reactions, dude. This band is deep, and you’re deep enough to get it on the first pass, I respect that. I think Tool is at their best when they are holding up a mirror to America/the modern world, and saying, “This is you. Don’t look away. This is how YOU are.” And this is one of my favorite songs for that, because it’s both evocative and straightforward at the same time, which is not an easy tightrope to walk. Love it, love it, love it. So glad you went down this rabbit hole, man.
This, agreed. Everyone gets sucked into the awesome lyrics, but I rate this as one of their best musically. Got to go back and review the music... the tight base lines, the intricate guitar parts, the outrageous drums, and how they all sync together. It's delivered with tempo and precision on the album and translates just as well live.
Thanks for getting back to Tool! There is so much more to get too brotha! Time to spiral out! 46 & 2, Jambi, Ticks and Leeches, The Grudge, Invincible, Pnuema, 7empest, The Pot, Schism and the list goes on! These are all phenomenal and that's not being bias, all of tools catalogue is phenomenal and you will find there following is die hard. Love the reactions please keep them comimg!
IMO the line "the universe is hostile, so impersonal...devour to survive so it is, so its always been." is mind crushing. Just consider supernovae. A big Star dies and many new ones are born out of the remainings. One has to die, before new ones are born. Tool
I really like your videos man. Especially your Tool videos. You really get their meanings, but more than that you just really jive out to the music which is what Tool fans really enjoy. Props man.
You should react to A perfect circle. It's Maynards other band after Tool. The songs "Judith" is very personal to him. Their songs are definitely more straight to the point
I thought I was a tool fan until the 13 year long late arrival of fear inoculum. Then I realized I just like good music. Everything I have heard from that sounds like a different version of the song reflection to me. Great song, just not good enough to have a whole album based on it. (Not talking about its political points) just the overall sound. However, if by that album they are saying that there is nothing left to say, they have already told us then I get it.
Your responses are Epic. The fact that your taking this ride down this hole. It’s only going to get deeper. Don’t just listen to the lyrics. Enjoy the ride of the orchestration. Would you believe that there’s philharmonic orchestras that play tool songs. Amazing band. I’m super excited that your taking this ride
This and 46 & 2 are my favorite TOOL songs. I bought “Undertow” when it first came out. Never been disappointed. I dig your reactions bro- one of my new favorite channels. Keep it up yo
watched some of your older videos, and thought they were cool, but came across your tool and slipknot videos today. Im digging the videos. Also great to see people getting into Tool in 2020
The messages have always been there. Maynard is one of the most prolific writers of our time. Paired with Danny, Adam and Justin and you’ve got the most incredible combination of talent.
TOOL is a band beyond description to me, I feel them. Right In Two is another favorite especially the video. All of thei music is just wow along with the videos, He also has a band called A Perfect Circle the song Judith is amazing
Love your reaction videos man! Just started watching since a couple of days. You made me pay more attention to the lyrics of the metal artist’s that I been listening to for a long time! Greets from Holland!
I'm so glad to see you reacting to Tool cuz they're honestly one of the bands that I knew had good music but I've never gotten around to actually listening to all their songs. This gave me a little push to do so. I saw that you've listened to them before, but (correct me if I'm wrong) could we get some more Soundgarden like Spoonman or Fell On Black Days? You listened to Audioslave, so it feels like this is a natural next step. Also, Primus Sucks!
Hit the nail on the head, not only want to look at the violence, secretly enjoying the ability to judge others while wringing their own hands and shaking their heads in disgust. More Tool, just more, please.
I want to point out that back in the day, people used to vicariously watch people on the news get hurt or watch tragedies on movies. Horror films, violence from war movies, westerns. We all like to watch things die from a distance. Tool‘s got some really deep meanings
I am so glad you understand you finally get it. See all Tool, Rage, Pearl Jam, bigy smalls, Ice cube all understand it’s not about the things that divide us but the wisdom to understand the forces that divide us, time to fight back, my brother
Loving your Tool reacts, man... it's like I get to discover them all over again through someone else. It was '93 for me and every album after continued to blow my mind even further. If you haven't reacted to "The Grudge" yet, that's definitely one you should visit soon. My recommendation.
Vicarious is by far my favorite Tool song. It's so visceral in its commentary on society and the human experience. Death is inevitable and we have some sort of morbid fascination with it because it invokes the mystery of the great beyond.
The song that made me look up the word Vicarious for the first time. Doing so made the entire song have meaning for me. Driving by the accident on the highway, we just can't help but look through the windows hoping to see a victim, or at least a blood stain. You know you do it.
Hey bro, I was honored to see you react to this. As you can see, TOOL explores the darkness of every human being with intense intellect and depth. They can be quite the handful to process altogether, but as you can see, they make you THINK about DEEP SHIT. Cheers, brother!
Reminds me of the end sequence of Disgustipated. "This is necessary Life feeds on life..." That same vibe of the predatory nature of LIFE, just our modern version of it.
late to your channel, but loving it. you seem ( and I sincerely hope) really into expanding your music horizons, and accepting each song\genre for it's merits. there is so much GREAT music outside of everyone's "comfort zone" it just takes a tiny effort on all ourselves to accept and enjoy. you don't have to love, just appreciate it's awesomeness
Here in Denmark several media won't attend the upcoming concert with this band. The problem is that photographers employed by newspapers must sign that they are wiolling give the rights to the band TOOL. And this means that the person taken the photo can be accused of stealing a image if that person is using his/ hers own image. This has also been mentioned in relation with the Danish band Volbeat.
Love your new love for Tool! You.are.so.adorbs with your reactions. 10,000 days is for Maynard’s mom’s accident until the day she died. Wings for Marie is about his mom...her name was Judith Marie. I’ve met Maynard a few times, he is the same In person as he comes across in his music. Very genuine.
This is the song that got me in to Tool (and subsequently Puscifer). It impacted me so much that when I wrote one of my songs, Rhetorical Smile, part of the chorus is an homage to this song: "You live your life as though you paint it by numbers Ingest the pain of millions through the safety of the six o'clock news." LOVE this song!
