This video is dedicated to the Top 10+1 most memorable female characters who went from rags to riches in the Prime time Supersoaps aired from 1980 to 1989. It includes the following shows: "Dallas", "Knots Landing", "Dynasty", and "Falcon Crest". This video has optional English subtitles.
Note: The last names belonging to annulled marriages have been omitted (as should be!).

This is brilliant. Donna Mills always did her own makeup. She knew what suited her face and how to paint it. Of course this led to the fabulously camp The Eyes Have It. (I often used cucumber to purify my pores)

I have to try that Roland! I think she was very underrated in USA because she was in a soap, but she didn´t just "act", she created the look of her character from head to toes, but especially her pretty head. Take her makeup off and Abby is gone. She used it to adjust her performance and focus her expression in thos eyes. Love her.

supersoaps Donna Mills is a fantastic actress as well as a great beauty. Her makeup was and still is flawless, she still looks phenomenal in 2020. She did a reunion with Michelle Lee and Joan Van Ark. she is the oldest of the three, but looked the youngest, most beautiful and glamorous, she always did. Michelle Lee still looked good, but Joan Van Ark not so good. Another soap actress who always did her own makeup was Joan Collins, another great beauty even now

I was so annoyed when they killed off Laura in Knots Landing as a cost cutting exercise. Constance is a fantastic actress and the character of Laura added so much to the show. Producers were mad to kill her off.

After that Greg just moped around and left his child with Karen. I didn't like that they killed off Laura. The show became the Donna Mills Abbey Show. It was all about her slithering around and trying to double deal and blackmail people. She stole poor weak Gary Ewing from Valene after he inherited money. That show floundered around for years and lost it's heart. The twins story was torture. But I loved when Valene ran off and couldn't remember who she was and Gary came to get her.

I will never forget Bette Midler imitating that Dynasty scene in Big Business. "Give 'em hell Alexis!! Just look at her she is just runnin' that whole compny (sic)"

Terry Hartford was one of my all time favourite soap characters and one of the most underrated, scenes with her and Maggie would usually descend into an argument because Terry was so self absorbed, which were hilarious to watch. One of the many BIG mistakes in Falcon Crest was to kill her off. I was reading online that she refused to go back and film her death scene, so we just saw someone in a wig on the floor of Richard's house after the earthquake.

I agree with you campgalore. As well as later killing off Melissa, the "termination" of Terry was painful to watch, but she could have remained until the very end, instead of those lame ladies they had, like Genele. She and Richard made a great couple, and both sisters fighting to keep him would have made good, soapy TV.

I remember this scene with Terry going from widow tears to laughing and blasting her music. I think soon after she started driving an expensive sports car. Totally agree that killing her was a HUGE mistake. That girl was trouble with a Capital T and it was fun watching her be a bitch. LOL!

I remember Donna Mills for her ability to apply her own makeup. Women were writing in to the show about her eye make up, curious about how she did it. So, she did a low budget video called, "The Eyes have It." It was not only a tutorial on application, but also her skin care routine. She still looks fabulous today.

The funny thing about Abby is that when she first came to Knots Landing she was a bed-hopping single mom with two small kids she couldn't handle and was running late to work every morning to her job at her brother's garage. But as soon as Gary got his inheritance from Jock's will, she metamorphosed overnight into an international businesswoman. But I guess if Alexis could do it, so she could she. She went from riding Cecil Colby to running his international Corporation; Colbyco. Man, I wish stuff was as easy as it looks on TV - LOL!

Susan Howard should never have been pushed aside on Dallas. They did to her want they did to Constance on Knots Landing . Neither actress should have been forced out on either show

I don't think she was forced out of the show, my memory is that she was a Christian and felt that the part she played contradicted he beliefs. She was also a regular on the 700 club, and I think there was too much interference going on.

There was were conflicting rumors about why Susan Howard left. 1 her political views differed and the other she was in conflict with the whole Bobby dream idea and didn’t think Bobby should have been brought back which was against what Larry Hagman wanted who essentially ran the show.

@@beckymigdal3140 That decision was so controversial. People either loved it or hated it. But it made fools of us all. And not long after that, Victoria Principal left the show. It ruined Bobby's character because he the only good thing on the show to me, was Bobby and Pam's love story. That was the stability the show needed.

Is it me, or does this list have two glaring omissions, both from "Dynasty"? 1. Krystle, who started out a middle-class stenographer and, as his wife, became the rock he leaned on, and 2. Dominique, Tom's illegitimate daughter, born into even humbler circumstances, who built her own media empire

JRs arguement with Pam is alot different than his arguement with Michelle . He soften up , the show didn't care anymore.

The show became a cartoon in the last few seasons. Larry played it like a comedy in the last few years and not as a drama

07:50 Sue Ellen must have learned that line from Neil out of the British soap "The Young Ones". In the episode that parodied Dallas, Neil confronted Rick by asking him "Would you like a cup of herbal tea?".

Chase on Falcon Crest. He was an airline pilot who inherited a small parcel of land in the family vineyard, then got more land after Angela's schemes were exposed and became quite wealthy

It´s the main theme version featured in "The Music of Dallas", the LP released in 1986 with some actors singing themselves (though only Howard Keel really was memorable...sorry to say that).

I hated the Bobby/ April storyline
