My current oldest AEG is a CYMA AK47 that's at least 13 years old now (I'm the second owner). I got it about 9 years ago for something like $15 because the previous owner just wanted it gone because the battery cover was missing and some of the body parts were cracked. So a $7 battery cover, a new hop up bucking, some duct tape, and a lot of wishful thinking later, and it's still one of my most reliable rifles. People look at it on the field and ask how it's still working and I honestly have no idea, but I'm gonna use it until it finally fires it's last shot and then frame it because it's taken punishment that no airsoft gun should be able to survive. The Trashnikov, as I've come to call it, has earned CYMA my undying support.
Hell yeah dude, on the fields here I see teens with CYMA's put red bandannas on groups of try-hard guys in their 20's and 30's who all had top of the line AEG's and GBBR's it's hilarious. If you are good with your gun and play the field right it won't matter who had the more expensive gun. You'll already have sent them walking back to their spawn hahaha.
@@StrawberryShmello because of the familiar look and feel and the upgrades are endless and you can use the m4 platform for any roll you want but yes they do get stale but just saying why people like them and run them me personally think its an amazing starter gun but after that stage of getting into the game with an apex m4 im now moving to my dream gun the kar98k
Had an m27 in the corps, and decided when I started playing airsoft that’s what I wanted. Grabbed a vfc m27 aeg and kitted it the same way I had back in the day. It’s literally my favorite thing on the planet and no matter what I get now, I always go back to my baby
My first AEG was an Elite Force H&K Competition Kit MP5A4. I bought it back in 2019 and It still serves me to this day. I don't use it as much as I used to anymore but it's still very good at smaller fields.
For me, the cyma ak47 is the way to go. Its very affordable, simple to learn and use, a combination of metal and polymer making it very lightweight for great on-the-move engagements, and since the battery compartment is located in the wood stock, you can pretty much fit any size battery into it, as well as being compatible with most ak mags from different brands. Had mine for a solid 6 months, and not ONE problem or issue. HIGHLY recommend giving it a shot 👍💯
My first airsoft gun was the JG G36 in this list and it served me very well for many years. Recently sold it to a new player and their father so that it may live on as a great first AEG. Recently picked up a VFC SCAR myself with a broken hopup I replaced. Glad to see it also made the list.
Honestly my first and only kind of aeg I've had exposure too was the Mp5. I'm not sure what it was but It just felt cool. Over the span of 3 years I had 3 mp5s, Elite force SD, G&G a5, and now currently the vfc a5. During the transition of the aegs I'd transfer whatever internal upgrades to the new body. It may have been from plastic to metal, airsoft spec to real spec. But at the core, it still feels like my first aeg.
My first rifle was the CYMA CM028 AK47. After 4 years, its still by my side and working even though ive dropped it from chest height, smacked it against a tree, etc. Im planning to give it a complete make over by swapping out all the creeky plastic parts and give it a metal reciver and real wood furniture to show my appreciation for it Yes, the HK 416 is also my favourite platform as well as the AK
What are your thoughts on the KWA Ronin PDW? I'm in love with that thing.. but if ya can recommend something else along those lines in the $250-350 range I'm all for it... aka Ronin PDW, amoeba sbr, or Valken sbr
I have my HK416 since 2005 and still kicking ass till now with 580 to 614fps.. ;) now be upgrading it's rails to Geissele SMR (Same as yours) with Socom 556 Suppressors.. :)
My Top 5 favorite AEGs right now: 5) G&G GR25 with upgraded spring hopup chamber and inner barrel . Shoots 450-460fps with .20s and reaches well past 250ft with .36 gram bbs. 4) VFC HK 416 A5 lightly upgraded about 80% stock 3) VFC Colt Mk18 Mod 1 80% stock 2) Krytac LVOA S fully upgraded by UA 1) ASG CZ Scorpion EVO 3A1 70% upgraded. I always end up bringing 6-7 different guns to game days because I have too many cool guns to limit to just 1 or 2.
Same here. There ain’t as much GBBR as AEGs but it’d be nice to have a video on GBBR like this one so that they can help get a bit more exposure. They really are great if you know what the hell you’re doing with em.
Love my SR7, it's my first AEG and I'm super happy as a newbie with the distance/accuracy right out of the box. Might upgrade the bucking to a maple leaf down the line. When I learn how to do that haha! I also just grabbed the Cybergun P90 for my fiancee and she loves it!
I got my g&p m4 secondhand 7 years ago and it's always given me trouble, but goddamn do I love that thing. KAC trades, DD rail system, lonex gearbox, the whole nine yards
I had a G36C AEG from probably over a decade ago, and I just got back into airsoft before COVID hit. I had no idea what brand it was, but the techs at a local store/field still looked into it and it just needed a new bucking. It's become old faithful while I pour money into upgrading a CYMA M4. I've replaced most of the externals, and am looking to start working with the gearbox come Christmas. I've got Krytac metal recievers now, and am hoping to find a full gearbox kit eventually.
My forever AEG is GS made m4a1. It’s still running perhaps. I stored it in a safe place in my hometown of a Chinese city. There, it’s considers as real firearm and I can be in trouble for owning it. I like it bc it brings my memory back to when I played my first AEG with my twin brother, who l love dearly but I’ve lost him several years back to a disease. It’s my forever AEG. It’s cheaper than what I own now it has so much less feature than what I have now but it is in my heart forever the number one.
I bought a used krytac trident when I started airsoft over two years ago and it’s still running strong all I’ve done is put a jefdtron leviathan in it and it’s running strong.
I still have my first gun from 10+ year ago it’s a CYMA AK 74u. Is it my favorite no, is it the most fun to shoot no however its my most reliable and durable gun I own. It cost $125 and I’ve never touched the inside. I still take it to every game as my back up even though I’ve got $1000 guns that are much newer because it will always work.
My first AEG was a echo 1 416 as well, but it died on my 1st game 😓 i ended up giving it away and i bought a G&G baconator on evike in like 2010. Its been with me so far, just upgrate the gear box and motor2 days ago, she burns like a kitty. She is my favorite gun for the sentimental value, but my favorite plataform is the M4 RIS km4 its just to comfortable!! Im a kwa lover !!
that was my first m4 as well i went pre ordered it from a local airsoft store thats sadly not in business any more and still have it and did some customizing to it. g&p drop in gear box angel customs tight bore barrel battlelink minimalist stock that is really comfy and g&p ambi mag release and angel customs trigger happy trigger guard and still works
My first was a Cyma G36c LPEG. Moved on to a JG G36C that I have owned for 15+ years now. Only add on I have put on were a 1 point sling and a mock suppressor. Plan on some sort of under barrel grenade launcher, give it a Sci-fi look and feel.
I have a TM M16a2 I bought used off of Arnie's Airsoft back around 2015 that is still running to this day. Only opened the gearbox once since I owned it to (try) and put a new spring in it, but after some issues decided against it. It's been my go to AEG for years, and while I've replaced everything in from of the receiver with new metal parts, it's still the same plastic TM Receiver, in all of its Zip Tied Glory.
I've been running a GSG-522 RIS for like 10 years. It's still a laser. I just have a mock suppressor, angled foregrip, and a small red dot and it just works. I rebuilt the gearbox once in about 2013 or 2014 but it's been great. I wouldn't say it's my absolute fave but it's 100% my "ol' reliable".
my Echo 1 FAL SOF3, my second airsoft gun purchase, right after i broke my Double Eagle M14 but it was a piece of garbage anyway. I got it used, came with 5 mid caps. And i've kept it for a few years and still going strong. I got a guy who upgraded it with a Gate Titan Trigger, and finally got the gun built as the DMR FAL that i always wanted when i first got it. she is quite the beauty! I will be picking up the 6mm ProShop FAL Carbine, with quadrail and foldable stock, to make myself a Carbine SA-58 so i can continue the FAL Dream!
I'm literally about to buy airsoft guns and this is actually helpful. Because I haven't played with airsoft since I was ten. I'm almost twenty one now, this is gonna bring back good memories.
My favorite AEG of all time has to be the G&G 416 SBR. I never owned one myself but much like you Matt, I am a 416 lover myself. I’ve always loved the look of the classic 416 RIS over the A5, and the build quality on the G&G version of the Rifle was fantastic. A friend of mine always let me borrow it and to this day it’s my favorite AEG of all things I tried. HOWEVER I’ve yet to put love into the three AEGs I now have: an APS M4 with a need to be repaired gearbox, an ICS MP5 that needs to be rewired, and a KWA KM4 cqb that is currently my main gun. I plan on trying to hunt down an Armalite SIR style Rail for it and put an SPR front sight on it for them MW2 feels.
First AEG was a first gen VFC 416 after years of hard use it ended up in the back of my locker, finaly gave it a proper rebuild. Swaped the rail to a HAO Geissle one put a slim line stock on it and man its like seeing a good old friend back after many years.
My first airsoft gun was a hk g36c and it's awesome, I've had it bout 3 years and still works fine although I haven't been able to put as much gameplay into it as most people lol
Fun fact: in Canada, airsoft guns have a *minimum* FPS requirement of 366fps. So when you buy a Combat Machine from a Canadian store, it's already shooting 370-380 fps, whereas buying from American stores starts you with only 290-300fps stock.
Mine Is G&P MK18 mod1, gift from my wife. I had been using it, upgrading it w/ Gate Titan . And all the external stuff I’ve work on is amazing. Till now it had serviced for 8 years now, I won’t sell it cuz put too much effort on it, I will just keep running this AEG and play it until I die
A friend of my has the cross produced version of the kytech M4. It was one of the first M4's to have a mosfet system in it. It's absolutely deadly and the only way you get a better AEG is by buying a HPA. Seriously. It's that good.
I did buy a Masada, A&K..... From you. Thank you, because like your TM M4. It too has a special place in my heart for how it was and is the end of an era before the H&K 416 fan boi club. Matt... It's a good airsoft gun, but I would take your Scar... Any day than an H&K 416..... and I like Masada's.
I miss my mp5 it got stolen in a game, I bought it because my m4 AEG got damaged and it was the best mp5 AEG never got a problem with it, I'm buying another one as soon as I can!
I think i had around 10 AEGs alltogether, but only 2 of them were used heavily, so my top list only has these: 1. Boyi SCAR-L: this was my second gun, I have it for 9 years, it still works 2. A&K MK43: I used her for 2 years then I sold her. She was the only gun I regretted I sold. A few years later I found her online up for sale. I recognized the small hole I drilled on her for camera mount, so I bought her back, patched her up (the front handguard was sawed off :( ) and I have her on my shelf ever since.
Favourite gun ive owned is the g&g m14 ebr, loved that thing. Silly heavy and frontheavy but it just looked fantastic and you could club people to deah with it! Sold it and wish i hadnt
if you are looking for en ump45 the G&G is great, the barel is metal so you can fit the proprietary silencer, you can buy mid caps of 50 rounds and the gear box is reinforced so it can take 11v lipo of the box
My first was an avengers m4 carbine which I got four years ago and works great even though I went through a hand guard, and a bucking or two it still works perfectly and I’m getting my second gun a f4 defense f4-15 in two weeks but my og carbine will always have a special place In my heart
My first gun ever was the SRC SR-16, visually similar to the TM that was shown. It kicked the bucket last year after being in my ownership almost exactly 5 years. My second gun was the G&G CM-16 R8-L, I got it from the Evike Superstore in October 2015 and it has been my primary since then. Internally it has a load of upgrades that started in July 2018, and “completed” just a few months ago.
G&G PDW99 was my first airsoft gun, the second was a echo 1 red star and I only change the gears afther 2 years, no other thing, is heavy but us the best for me
I have my PTS Masada to this very day and I bought it 6 years ago. My favorite gun ever. I just wished I had bought more magazines for it when they were still available.
G&P skull frog m4 I bought it for 180 dollars and it was shooting 410 out of the box. I’ve since flat hopped and put an mk18 rail and a hex suppressor and it is my baby

I came to say the same thing. Love my scorpion evo. their are 2 problems. 1.Front battery markers aren't liked and it's a pain to unscrew barrel supressor(BET) and install the 3 battery lipo nunchuk. I added a peq2 box with deans so I don't need to disassemble the front of the scorpion 2. unloading bbs from the magazine is so damn hard. Can you help any tips to unloading bbs?
I had a gry... and it basically just killed itself after 2 games. But as for favorites, I really like my Krytac LVOA. It's my current newest AEG and its been reliable and amazing. another favorite is my KWA SR7. it was my first High Quality AEG and I still have it to this day. got it back in 2013? the thing has been through hell and still runs to this day. it refuses to die. And finally, I'd have to say my last in this small list would be my ARES Ameoba. The Honey Badger. It's amazing. runs like a dream and kicks ass.
M16/m4 with an m203 is forever my favorite. When i got into airsoft/milsim we were all wearing bdus and dcus and it was always lion claws or black hawk down events using left over early gwot gear. Now im in the army with way too much extra gear ao why not get back into airsoft lmfao
Back when I was getting interested in Airsoft, I watched Matt's review on an HK416D. Ever since then, I have always wanted an HK416. Now, I have not purchased a VFC. However, I did pick up the Elite Force/Umarex HK416A5 competition. For $250, its all polymer. However, Internally, it comes with the Cyma Platinum Gearbox and is lipo ready. It is a great gun. Has functionality similar to a VFC. Just lightweight. If you can deal with polymer bodies, not metal, get the EF HK416A5 Competition
ASG Aug A3 MR. First gun, had it since 2015. Still have it to fhis day. Only problem with it is the wiring. Loved the gun so much i bought another one a week ago. I plan on resurrecting the aug with a HPA setup, better barrel, hop unit. Its a v3 gearbox.
My personal favorite AEG is my Ics M1 Garand (most expensive AEG I’ve ever purchased) my starter was a Cyberscum Thompson 1928 “Chicago Typewriter” (I’m a fan of the Classics)
I'll be honest I avoid m4/m16 type rifles. I carry one everyday so I actively try to go for something different for airsoft. Currently have a badass p90
My favorite rifle style off all time has to be the M16. Not just some M4 mod. No literal the M16. With the full length stock and 20 inch barrel. I love them from the classic A1 used in Vietnam. All the way to modern A4. I have four M16's so i am a fanboy 😂❤
I have two Cm16s in addition to my 2 krytacs, I keep them for nostalgia and for when I have guests who want to play, I can give em the cm16’s and not worry about them getting wrecked lol 😆
@evikematt @evike My first gun was the G&G CM 16 and only thing I did to it was tight bore barrel, prowin hop up. promi flat hop and a new motor after 4 years of constant use. My wife and son got it from Evike and gave it to me for Christmas about 7 years ago it so I could go an play airsoft with my son (great bonding time over the years!!!) It still works great and I bring it out almost every other time I go play. (it is always is in my bag JIC), you never know.... Don't think I'll ever get rid of it. My second gun is the 416 gen5 with minimal external upgrades... Like you said, it is a bit heavy but mine shoots so flat and true... and it is easy to get lost in the moment. Thanks for this video!
When I was a kid I bought the ics 552 and the stock snapped in half the first day I got it without using any force or anything on it. I treated it like a baby to.
Really owned a jg g36. It never break in the 5 years i owned it. With a 6.03 thightbore barrel and the green g&g hop up rubber it did the same as the combat machines. Only the wires and cheap trigger contacts need some love after 5 years. It a donor gun for my ares ump 45 at the moment. And even that thing never had broken eather.
