Okay, I'm russian. I had no party in my life without having vodka. So, I'm a pretty experienced vodka-user. And from my collossal experience I can tell you for sure - vodka is not about taste, it's about getting drunk. But that's what makes it somehow a superior spirit - vodka shot is always a sureshot. So, to conclude, 16/20 for taste is a complete bullshit. But vodka is a universal soldier.
+Dries Van Poucke I'm assuming that methanol is your #1 for some purpose other than consumption. Methyl alcohol, unlike ethyl alcohol, is highly toxic and unfit for human consumption. I'll take my ethanol neat. Cheers!
yep. I love a few vodkas but the better they are the more neutral they taste. Surely a scotch (or Tasmanian or maybe Japanese) whisky has to ace the taste category hands down
+Lawrence Lui At first I thought maybe "taste" meant how much (burning sensation) you feel when it goes down the throat. Then I saw beer #2, I was like WTH, it doesn't make any sense to me. Screw this list!
I've only had a few kinds of vodka, but I think it's more about texture than actual flavor. It's more important that it's smooth than it is for it to be flavorful. All I can say is avoid Svedka from Sweden. That shit burns more than some moonshine I've had.
@@shanemcnulty2185 just like cheap shitty whisky you also shouldnt try shitty vodka and say it tastes bad, try a ketel one or tito's. I love me some whisky but whenever i just dont feel like thinking about what im drinking i just drink a neat quality vodka
Vodka: Taste - 16/20 16/20 ?!?! It is very well known that “Vodka is neutral spirits so distilled, or so treated after distillation with charcoal or other materials, as to be without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color."
So say the Americans, who don't like the taste of alcohol anyway. It's actually bullshit. Vodka does have a taste and aroma, especially when it's made properly.
***** But you could make a sandwich that tastes good. They aren't all ass flavoured. My point is that there's a massive difference in a spirit that has been made and served properly and the nasty, cheap crap people get wasted on and then complain about later.
My top ten: 10. Vodka (For a long time after a certain night in college I had an agreement with vodka. I left it alone, it left me alone.) 9. Tequila (I used to drink tequila straight by the full glass back when getting drunk was fun.) 8. Mint Schnapps (Dangerous stuff. I never realize how drunk I am with it till I stand up.) 7. Saki (I've not had it often, but it's good) 6. Mead (Real mead is hard to come by around here. Usually you end up with a honey flavored beer instead.) 5. Hard cider (A holiday favorite) 4. Beer (Now we start getting into stuff I drink on a regular basis) 3. Wine (Really wine is so varied it could take 3 spots on this list. I'm going with the highest it would get on my list here.) 2. Cognac (Tasty stuff. I like mine with just a splash of water) 1. Whiskey (Let's not talk about how many Crown Royal bags are floating around my house, mmm'k?)
Beer is over 6000 years old, pre-dating wine, and is responsible for nourishing the Egyptian workforce that built the Great Pyramids. It was also used as a much healthier alternative to water in Europe, during times of plague. Today, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of established beer types, with a faster growing market than wine. Let's dispense with the Hollywood mindset that beer is a generic drink for frat kids and philistines. Beer is the foundation of modern alcohol, and is now as complex and diverse as wine, if not more so. It absolutely deserves the #1 spot.
Funny enough it was actually women who created beer, owned the breweries, brewed the beer and drank the beer. Don't believe me? Look it up lol, you'll be surprised.
@@skullkrusher4418 Hi. Don't know your history with tequila (or whiskey for that matter). Always get a 100% agave spirit. I like Don Julio, but it's not cheap. I'd recommend a Reposado or an Anejo for Whiskey drinkers. These are aged much like whiskey is in oaken barrels. As for Gin, I like dry martinis and Plymouth Gin is my favorite for making those. Beef Eater is cheaper and is almost as good in my opinion. But as you know, everybody has his own taste profile. Ya just have to try stuff. I don't drink much Whiskey these days. Never had a single go-to whiskey except for Johnny Walker way back in the 90s.
I'm a Whiskey guy, my favorite is Bourbon followed by Single Malt Scotch (this includes Japanese Whiskey which is basically the Japanese take on Scotch) & rye. I like Irish Whiskey and Wheat Whiskey and Canadian Whiskey too. Basically anything with the word Whiskey in it. But I also love Beer and I have a profound love for Stouts and Ales although right now I'm a little bit obsessed with Pabst Blue Ribbon Extra, i also have been known to enjoy Mexican Imports such as Modelo and Pacifico and Tecate. Most of my favorite Wines are Red Wines that have been aged in Bourbon barrels and 19 crimes makes a Red Wine called "the uprising" which is a Red blend aged in Rum barrels. I am also a huge fan of a stout called Dragon's Milk which is a double whammy for me because it is a stout aged in Bourbon barrels. And I love Mead I swear to Odin I don't have a problem 😹😹😹😹
I'm a vodka guy... But man , Pacífico Is the best beer after a hard day after work . In Mexico it's known as the "construction workers beer".. or any person that does hard physical work
Wrong the worm is not a worm but larvae and tequila is only called tequila in that region of Mexico with 51 percent blue agave other wise it's called mezcal
Anyone notice in the last few years how much bigger the "worm" is in Mezcal? It's crazy big compared to what it used to be. What the hell is going on there? They are like 3 inches long now.
You don't get worms in Tequila. The worm is a larvae of a moth found on Mescal plants. Although Tequila is a Mescal (made in the Tequila region) you won't find a worm in a bottle marked Tequila.
Speaking scientifically those who drink moderately are healthier than those who do not drink at all. So your statement is false. Studies have proven this.
There is actually a reference to his alcoholism in one of the James Bond films, I can' remember which one it is, I think it might be the world is not enough.
I have been rather fond of Whisky lately. And when it comes to alcohol that is more on the lower alcoholic content level of beer, I really do enjoy hard cider quite a bit.
except russian vodka. they are masters of drinking after all..or second place. first place goes to finland. would be nice to win hokey again. last time whole country was drunk for a month and you cant believe how many swedish flags were burning. simply amazing.
MrAnimepredator umm I don't totally agree on that point: masters of drinking, in which way? Germans, especially bavarians, are masters as well! But yeah russians are among the best! But finland? I lived in Finland for 4 years, the beer there is terrible! And yes Finns drink a lot, but it always ends up on the streets! Hahaha but I remember The finns burning a few swedish flags, that was epic!
svwtsvfcb it taste bad because it actually tastes like whats it been made of. guess you have been hanging with some sider whales and not real drinkers, and of course it goes to street. it so much better there than inside.
MrAnimepredator So you mean it's been made out of what? And finns always drink a lot, but always fall into coma, it takes more for a bavarian to fall into coma! We should meet one day, finns and germans, and exchange our drinking products and specialties :)
svwtsvfcb actually its pretty much the same amount. we just drink more, half of it in 5 minutes to get drunk and other half in next following hours (usually from two to four hours) and than we wake up 6 at morning in cell and when we are let out, we try desperately find alcohol to help hangover. you just try having up that drinking culture and such, we dont have drinking culture, we never had a drinking culture. we just drink our selves to grave and some are better at it than others.
I second this 😂 largely false claims for health benefits and even when true they are still not massive and could be got in much better and effective ways, weird way of justifying drinking 😂 such an odd list
I like Vodka because you can mix it with just about anything from juices to pops. You ever have a vodka slushie? it's just a slushie with a bit of vodka in it!
I don't understand why whiskey is a 1/10 on cost and versatility. There are some cheap whiskeys that mix great, you will go further buying a $14 bottle of seagrams than a 24 pack of Natty Ice, but Beer gets a 10/10 on cost? True whiskey is not as versatile as vodka, but giving it a 1 is criminal. There are plenty of whiskeys that are meant to be mixed in a whiskey sour or whiskey coke, plenty of others that are better with ginger-ale or fruit, and many others that are strictly for sipping on the rocks. Whiskey is my number one spirit. Wine and Beer are arguably better but its like a whole different category.
Count KEKula no tequila does have a worm and high quality bottles of tequila have real worms cheaper bottles have fake worms and eating one of them will instantly get you wasted
thats because i think they drink tequila with that salt-lemon mixture, thats for college girls and tourists, real man drink tequila by itself, like the whiskey.
WINE?! 19/20 in taste? Dont bs anyone, if a wine should have 19 in taste it costs a LOT of money. And it is no way versitile. Cost should be 1 for a good wine. The only thing thats a bit true is the fact that it has some health benefits.
It's a fallacy that good wine is expensive or expensive wine is good. Heston Blumenthal made sparkling wine out of a bottle of Blue Nun and a soda stream and people preferred it to pricey champagne
PeteLewis1917 Well, I would rather call your first notion a myth. The second thing you mentioned, however, is a fallacy. A lot of "people" do not know what they are talking about. They simply like what their pallet is used to or what they generally prefer. But there is a reason why chefs, like me, and people of the trade love the same types of food and drinks. We generally like the same types of flavor, because our palates are trained. Subjective, absolutely, but with a shitload of merit in terms of science being able to reproduce the same flavor profile again and again all over the world.
john dekker lol leave it to the Brits to come up with something to put you under the table with very little effort. My point was that this vid is directed to people in North America... and the higher alcohol beer from Europe is harder to find and unless you a big brew fan you may never even try it. I've had a German beer @ 12% and a home made pil that was at about 16. Both where good.... what make beer strong... in my opinion... would be the amount and type of hops used.
Stuart Forrester but a brandy cant be a cognac. Brandy uses any kind of fruit while cognac only use grapes.. hens a cognac can be a brandy but a brandy cant be cognac.
Josafat Hernande Okay, whats it with you english speaking people and your inability to differentiate between pink and rosé? When you see a pink wine, you can almost be sure that something is realy, realy wrong with it. Pink derives from a purple tone and rosé from a red tone.
Ya I've never been a fan of darker spirits like Whiskey, Rum, ect. I guess my palette is not distinguished enough... I've always stuck with lighter stuff like vodka and gin.
It blows my mind that tequila and whiskey scored lower in flavor than vodka. I’ve tried some pretty high quality vodkas and they still taste like hand sanitizer compared to other alcohols
Our local bar serves a cocktail called the 'pan galactic gargle blaster'.It's not too dissimilar from being smashed around the head with a gold brick wrapped in lemon!
nugget bips Ethyl alcohol or Ethanol is the only kind of alcohol humans can consume. That is the main reason this is a dumb list in my opinion. They meant "types of alcoholic beverages", but they didn't say that.
I meant because it is 100% opinion. There is no agreed upon way to rank alcoholic beverages, especially when you're talking about completely different drinks. It's easier to compare apples to oranges than Beer to Tequila. making a list makes no sense
Richie Schneider Theon's a good character, very entertaining. he's got some of the best chapters in ADWD. Bran's my favorite though. Blackfyres are basically the legitimate Targs. Read the Tales of Dunk and Egg if you want the whole spiel, they talk about it a little in ASOIAF too but not a lot.
I think there are two main kinds of alcohol consumers in the world. The kind who drink to relax and unwind and enjoy the taste of their favorite spirits, and the "social drinkers" who drink to get drunk and party. I am of the former type myself, don't like getting drunk, but a good beer or two does help take the edge off a lousy day.
Illumanatee well I gotta say I didn't know,I thought it was a beverage that drowned after the disappearance of nordic folks (by that I imply people like Vikings and such)
+Emmanuelle Person True, true story. Some cheapo bulk lager bulk cheap beers intended to just get drunk. bought from markets are not good, taste bad. But a high quality beer tastes great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yummohh... craft beer. and bottles+glases best
+Captain Crunch Absolute nonsense. Cans protect the beer from the "skunky" qualities which occur when a beer is struck with too much ultraviolet light. It's especially prevalent in green and clear bottles.
you need to explore more... next stop for you is RAKIJA in all its varieties (come to Serbia for that)!... than you can make new video like this but with changed order and with a new entry in it :)
There is a really nice scrumpy, I think called Old Rosie, as you say its nearly as strong as wine and very nice, worlds away from the mainstream Bulmers and Strongbow etc. Try some if you can find it, the difference is like night and day.
