Thank you for sharing. I am 61 years old and have been rebounding since 1992. During the late summer to fall I ref my grandchildren soccer games (10 to 14 year old) and I am able to keep up with them. I have more energy than some of the 30 something generation. I am excellent condition and do not take any medications. I thank God for my health! I believe rebounding in addition to my low carb/refine sugars diet have help keep my weight in the 145-150 range. Blessings.

I know this video was made 5 years ago, but it's still timely for those of us just beginning to use rebounders. I was in good shape with daily 2 mile walks until I had an injury that kept me in bed for 2 months- now walking the way I did isn't an option- but rebounding is the perfect alternative! This video is so informative- thank you😄

I would recommend, starting out, that one baby bounce for at least 2 months. Moving one's arms can have quite an effect in this and the rest of the body is going to get pumping no matter what you do BUT, I would give the connective tissue an opportunity to gain strength before full on bouncing, particularly if one is older or overweight as the skin won't be able to provide compression to help support the internal organs as they're bouncing and women with heavier breasts or who have lost a lot of weight can attest to the "gravity of the situation", in that regard.. I'll be 63 this year and have only just started. I purchased some compression leggings and long sleeve compression shirts to provide the support I would have if I were younger and my skin was tighter. While awaiting the arrival of my "cellerciser", I've been bouncing on the edge of the bed and "baby" bouncing on an old rebounder that I don't really trust, despite it being a high end piece of equipment, as that was over 30 years ago. It was good then but I've never been good at "routines" so it simply didn't get used, but starting out - at my age - I want something solid and secure and engineered for the long haul. And once I get my connective tissue built back up, I want to be able to do more on it. I already want to do more but not on the old rebounder and not before my ligaments and tendons have had a chance to build up. Particularly, with regard to my ankles and knees as they are particularly weak in those areas. The energy in the muscles is able to compensate but I don't want to beat them up before they've had a chance to BUILD up. But, that said, even after just a couple of weeks bouncing on the edge of the bed and health bouncing on my old rebounder, I'm already rock solid on my feet and more so than I can remember being...well...ever. You don't really think about that sort of stuff when you're a kid but, anyone who is over 50 will know what I mean. This time last month, I was thinking about nursing homes. Now, I'm looking forward to spring lawn cleanup and cleaning my own gutters. ON a ladder! I'm still pinching myself as it seems to have somehow flipped some sort of switch on the strength and steadiness of my muscles and still seems too good to be true!!

WOW in my 60’s rebounder was recommended don’t know why ....an answer to prayer I believe...many a nightmare of my Husband and I in nursing home he’s great but myself going slow since retired,the pandemic change our life.however when I saw little trampoline I remembered we have one in the garage, Hubby unearthed it (haha) been using it for a week several times a day 3 minutes @ a time,I must say I feel so much better, balance, energy,no more constipation, my self esteem back , recommend this to all.......

@@wandaarnt234 I had "the bug" last spring, in March, and this past January I was still weak as a lamb. When I was reminded of rebounding, I really felt I was just weeks from "assisted living". And one wrong step would have put me right there. I still can't believe the difference. It was just a few months ago I was thinking I probably had stocked up on enough toilet paper to see me through to the nursing home and that even if I didn't go, my car would probably last me the rest of my life but, not now. Now, I'm thinking long-term for the first time in over a year! Actually, for the first time in SEVERAL years! I love my cellercisesr and highly recommend it as it's designed to last a lifetime and, now, I need that! LOL

We bought ours with a bar that you can hang onto for extra stability and feel we couldn't rebound without it. It makes you feel very safe from falling. Maybe we'll be able to improve enough to morph away from it, but for now, I'd say it's a must for my husband and I.

One thing that is also important and not mentioned, even though this is a very good video. The type of rebounder is important. The low grade ones ( from Walmart) can cause significant damage to the spine. The suspension has a lot to do with the g-force so to help keep this low impact on joints and vertebrae. In my research the urban rebounder being the most affordable, celersizer the next affordable and my top choice then the belicon being the priciest of the three, might be because it is manufactured in Germany. Lol I highly recommend for this to become your go to exercise and to reap the ultimate benefits choose the better quality ones. Happy bouncing. Aloha

@giselafiege7169
@giselafiege7169 3 года назад
@@user-on7zd8yi8g I read it in a couple different places. I’d have to take some time to look them up again. It made sense if the support of the tension isn’t calibrated accurately it could have negative effects. NASA uses rebounding to train their astronauts. So there is great value in rebounding for our health, down to a cellular level.

Just bought mine and just now used it for the first time while watching this video. Did only 5 minutes max with the lowest rebound feet stayed on mat, and the back of my legs and knees began to feel pressure type pain (mild enough though) so I stopped. Even if I start with only a minute or two a day then later do the same a few times throughout the day. I can really feel something throughout my whole body, and this was just my first time doing this. I can even feel it in my swallowing and within 20 minutes of stopping I received a headache. So my lymphatic system must be seriously plugged up. It's going to take me some very slow going at first to get through this as I've not been well for some time now. Thank you for making this video freely available. It has encouraged to start and also to continue.

@Angie W I just read your reply to Lori dated 6 months ago and just want to encourage you Angie to keep bouncing on the rebounder! I was especially encouraged by the comment cccincocc made about feeling like she was ready for a nursing home but after bouncing for a while she has so much more energy and strength in her legs she knew she could get on a ladder to clean her gutters! I'm 71 and last year my friend Geanie encouraged me to get a rebounder since bouncing keeps the lymphatic system cleaned out. My cousin had just been diagnosed with cancer in the lymph nodes so that was a big motivator for me to get bouncing! I have reaped so many benefits from bouncing! More energy has been one of the biggest blessings! I truly hope Angie that you reconsidered and have, or will, bounce your way to better health, energy and strength! ☺️

Ive been rebounding off & on for over 15 yrs.....i started out with the urban rebounder...... i now have a beautiful bellicon. I came back recently to rebounding at 60. I was pretty tired at first but now i have built my resistance up! I start my off days with walking in the park for an hour at 5a....when i get home, i do 20-30 min on my peloton, and end it with my bellicon.....i feel good!! I had high blood pressure, & i am predisposed for diabetes. I also have arthritis in both knees and one shoulder. When i found out about the arthritis, my doctor told me to keep moving. So i now walk 5-6 miles every day. Since rebounding and my other activities, my blood pressure is in normal range. I feel no pain with my arthritis...i am able to move about quite well. I do still work - making a plan to retire in 4 yrs...i have more energy now.....i hope to continue this for the rest of my days! Its fun!

Liked that it has arched legs, it's quiet, adjustable cords ( 4 levels) and it's supposed to be compatible with Bellicose. It's also made by a family owned business with a pretty good warranty on parts. I'm so excited! It comes Wednesday. I gained about 40 lbs during this pandemic! @@jacquelines3685 the jump sport is a very good rebounder....thats one of the top ones....do what you got to do for your health... i think the only thing i have done to my bellicon is replace the cords....as i wanted it to bounce less relaxed.... they have so much content on youtube that it really helps in your journey.....i just bounce about 10-15 minutes daily....it feels good!! And always know that its OK to skip a day or two....as long as you go back.....the body should have a rest day.... my biggest problem with exercise is that i have guilt when i skip a day....i have to remember to not be so hard on myself.... this works! & I’m pretty sure you will be happy with the results! I have watched other ”beginner” videos and was pretty discouraged with the whole thing. I came across this today, and like the way rebounding was described - especially to start slowly. My daughter has been using a rebounder for years as part of her fitness regime. I have finally taken the hint and mine will arrive in two days so I am doing my due diligence regarding the best use for someone as out of condition as myself. Thank you for so many valuable insights on Safely starting. I have numerous injury issues to be cautious of in starting this exercise. Spinal issues being the most prominent among them, my back is fused on three levels, my neck is fuse on two levels. I have balance issues so I did opt for a rebounder with a rail. Hopefully when I have progressed enough I will be able to eliminate the rail, but for now I feel the wisest course is to have the option available. I know I will be reviewing this video from time to time to make sure I get maximum benefit from my rebounder. My thanks once again Dr. Pat for the instruction and advice.

Heheh! perhaps I'm simply easily amused. But calling people "less obvious family members" somehow gives me a chuckle I'd think maybe you wanted to say "less active" and I'm not sure why you didn't or what "less obvious" even means...scratching my head, it wasn't apparently obvious to me

I was wondering, would all that bouncing up and down make your face sag quicker? Or your breasts? Also, which is better, wearing shoes or being barefoot on the rebounder?

I had some pain in my big toe joints due to osteoarthritis for some years, but that seems to have improved since I started rebounding a month ago. I do it barefoot daily and am careful to keep a good posture and ensure my feet don’t roll in or out when I land. Go easy when you start and don’t overdo things or you might injure yourself and get discouraged. Initially, I felt a bit dizzy after just a few minutes and was wondering if rebounding was for me, but after a while, my body adjusted and I can now do 2 15 minute sessions a day. At 63, I’m definitely not a fitness freak but I realised I needed to exercise more because my body was getting weaker with a sedentary lifestyle. I found the treadmill boring, and discovered I love rebounding and it’s done wonders for me after just a month of daily rebounding eg lower blood pressure, my legs look more toned, and the thigh cellulite smoother, my skin less dry (all proving that it does improve circulation as claimed), more energy, better balance, less shoulder pain, better sleep, etc. I’m hoping to lose some weight too. Give it a try, but just a few minutes in the beginning and see how your body reacts. If you still have foot pain, you might try rebounding with supportive shoes. Oh yes, after watching this video, I decided not to buy a rebounder with a support bar, but I place my rebounder next to the window rail so I can get support any time I feel unsteady. It was the right decision because now my balance is better after a month of daily rebounding, I hardly need the rail for support. Good luck!

Unless you have a pre-existing balance problem, once you get on and begin a gentle health bounce you'll realize that it would take some crazy bouncing to put yourself in danger of falling off. Please don't let you're concern about falling off discourage you from investing in a good quality rebounder. Good luck!

I actually purchased the rebounder with the bar and I love having it there just in case. When I first begin I use it for balance. I was like you and was afraid of tipping off the rebounder and the bar just gives me confidence to use it!
