I know the guy in the Marine uniform. He's a former Marine and former Sheriff's officer. He runs a self defense and fitness gym in Beaverton, Oregon. He's a super cool dude. He was legitimately a Marine. He was just wearing his old uniform for the video. That's why he's unshaven. He's not in anymore and not under Marine grooming standards.
The hults Bruk axes are pretty good. Mine is heat treated a little too hard, he edge chipped up a tiny bit cutting some rock maple once but it’s pretty good. My Gransfors scandi and council woodcraft axes are definately WAY better.
Plastic handles cant be fixed in a survival situation and varnishes give wood handles a short life, linseed oil your wooden handles and choose one with good grain orientation. I could go on for ages about all the things that are terrible about these axes from a survival perspective.
I own the last one. The Schrade with the saw inside the handle. It sounded like a good idea in theory, before I bought it. The “safety snap” pops open with just about every swing, so it’s about useless. The slit in the handle pinches my fingers when I swing. The vibration from the saw blade in the handle is terrible as well. The first Schrade in the video is great though. Very comfortable handle, swings great, and splits with ease.
You should rename the vid to," The best bushcraft axe for those that have no fkn idea as to what a bushcraft axe is". No Wetterlings, Gransfors, Basque. There's only two Swiss axes and their the lowest tier.
@@saber1able Bushcraft channel, or some pleb reposting content? That's because you're a fkn peasant. No fkn way does HB compare to any of the axes I listed. You know damn fuckin well that the increased cost is due to fit in finish and quality of craftsmanship. HB is bottom of the barrel of the Swedes in this category, this coming from the owner of a Gold HB. What exactly does HB excell at with their bit profile over Gransfors, Weatherlings, or even a Basque? If you like I can post a pic on FB comparing my Anaby to my Scandinavian Forest and my Wetterlings Large Hunter. There's not comparison ma'am.
@@f1ashover885 They're great. Personally I'd purchase a Basque if I were going to have just one axe. Helko has been producing tools since the 1800's though. They must be doing something right.
Thomas Jackson I would never badmouth my Hults Bruks axes. They’re absolutely fine tools.....but you’re correct that they just aren’t the same quality as my Gransfors or wetterlings. I do not have a Basque. The Hults Bruks can be brought up to the others quality but does not come that way straight out of the box. Although, personally, I prefer an older American style such as a Plumb or an old Collins. In my opinion those (with a custom handle) can’t be beaten by anything made today.
@@caseycasey621 I love my HB as well. They're beyond fine, just not the best as what was eluded to earlier. HB was my first Swede, and I own at least two dozen. Basque is king and at a ridiculously cheap price. Once you research the brand you'll discover nothing else compares.
LOL what? You're griping about a guy selling BUSHCRAFT products not shaving? Have you ever actually been in the woods? I think you have mistaken this channel for Costco, Karen
Alot of negative comments.. but on some real shit what is a good built tough survival axe small enough to carry in a bookbag so when im out hunting, if I get injured I can prepare and fire with. Like to stay around $60
If you watch closely to the log they cut with the saw of the Shrade axe saw combo you will see that the log was initially cut halfway through with a chainsaw.
Most of these axes is just a tacticool crap. If you want to do any true work with an axe, buy something from Gransfors bruk, Hults bruk (Hultafors) or German Krumpholz. They know what they are doing.
A private in the United States Marine Corps with no shave.... something’s off.... either an NJP gone bad or someone is clueless with no respect for the uniform....
This was nothing but blasting ads, probably paid and sponsored. Not one axe was tested on bushcrafting tasks. How you gonna say best bushcraft axes and never test it? Just a paid marketer, nothing to see here folks move along.
Watched about the first 30th o da and realised these guys don’t actually know how to use an axe so thinking was if they can’t use how can they recommend 😂😂😂
These are all junk made with carbon steel that won’t hold an edge. If you want something to hold and edge you need a pm tool steel meant for that purpose.
Damnit.. I love this video. I get it you are a Marine but when you don the uniform please shave or where it within standards. I understand you served and I dont know your story. But uphold the standards we are known for.
My uncle makes custom hatchets/axes/knifes. Check his page out, hes retired and could use the recognition he deserves for his work! facebook.com/badaxxblades/
Holy crap schrade... SCHRADE!!! Are you guys going to make fishing poles next!!?? Man stick with decent case hardened brands like "old timer & uncle henry" and STOP trying to build ,,well lets see Matchetes, improperly built scandi ground bush knives, AXES! Just...enough CASE knows its home and i love a good case knife, they dont try to make matchetes for christ sake, no one would buy them! SCHRADE....TIGHTEN UP!!!!
I like what India is doing to China right now. I like axes. I hate that this channel has the lowest level in integrity. I should not have even clicked on it.
