Honorable mentions: Intimidate, Wonder Gaurd, Storm Drain, Lightning Rod, Defiant, Competitive, Guts, the whether summoning abilities, and the abilities that boost speed during weather.
My favorite has always been Magic Bounce. It's literally the Uno reverse card in Pokèmon. I had so much fun in X and Y watching NPCs trying to paralyze my Mega Absol, only for it to paralyze them instead. Karma, bitches.
@@allenmira8543 contrary is good but it's hard to work with in vgc cuz of the max moves raising your side's stats so i think it's a bit below defiant/competitive personally
Imagine an ability that let the pokemon use manmade items such as potions as held items. Maybe call it “Domesticated” Also what would you rather choose? Raichu with Speed Boost Dusknoir with Huge Power Seismitoed with Sap Sipper Ferrothorn with Flash Fire or Blaziken with Adaptability
Disguise without question is one of my favorite abilities. Gives Mimikyu effectively a free substitute to buff itself, switch in, or heal a teammate. Great ability on a great Pokémon.
intimidate is not that useful because of abilities like mirror armor inner focus etc and sturdy can be broken by toxic or spikes which are very common. natural cure is not that useful for some pokemon that have it
I wish that Trace would be on this list, since it's basically every other ability wrapped up into one. And it can really turn the tide of the battle. Just don't use it on a Slaking
Harvest is one of my favorite abilities, when me my friends do battles I run with Pokemon setting up hasarts, and my MVP Trevanent, Toxic, Rest, Protect and shadow claw/Shadow Force with its item Lum/Sitrus Barrey, here is what I use Magmortar: stealth rocks, Fire blast, Thunder bolt and Protect Drapion: Toxic spikes, Night slash, Fire and Ice fang Steelix: Spikes, flash cannon, Hidden power Ghost, Gyro ball Septile ( mega ): Leaf blade, Dragon claw, Earthquake, Power-Up punch And Gengar( backup mega) Shadow claw, Focus blast, Toxic, Poison jab/Venoshock
1. Magmortar doesn't have Stealth Rock 2. Drapion is much better with Knock Off 3. Steelix can't learn Spikes, and Flash Cannon and HP Ghost is trash coming off 55 Special Attack 4. Two megas shouldn't usually be run, but it's okay if you want to. 5. Physical Gengar is trash. A much better set is Shadow Ball, Sludge Wave, Focus Blast, and Destiny Bond. Hope this helped :)
Supa 69 yeah but that was back then plus I was noob ( 2012) plus I really had fun battling my friends plus I try mixing up my Pokemon by using Mega charizard Y Drought for Solor Beam and FlameThrower Or using Snorlax as a tank or using Golem as a Suiside Pokemon by using Exsplsoin, Earthquake, Rock slide, Stealth rock
I've still never played a single pokemon game and this helping me catch up into the series. Like really I'd call myself a fan of the series now thanks to videos like this.
I really love emerald. I just love how you can replay and not get bored of it. There's just something about it that makes it fun. After gen 5, I'd say gen 3 has the best music. I just love the slowed down feeling to Oldale town, and the excitement of Mauville.
if you ever plan on playing, i'd start with a gen 4 game like heartgold/soulsilver or platinum. gen 3 works too, but the physical-special split really helps to not making things confusing.
No one's bringing up Tinted Lens. Anything with a strong STAB move can absolutely abuse it without having to worry about anything being able to switch in properly
@@dino91001 both of them not a good contestant for leaf storm as serperior much faster than rosrade if im not mistaken and mustiscale is probably wise choice for a dragonite than contrary.
"There's one single pokemon stands out among the rest GENGAR" Eelektross: (cries) Eelektross has ability levitate and has no weakness because its ability (pls correct if im wrong im not pokemon master LOL)
Eelektross has the same problem as Luxray, in that its stat yield doesn’t really play to its strengths and leaves it with statistical flaws rather than typing flaws. The two Pokémon are actually pretty similar in terms of battle strategy, and I think both need a bit of a rework. I think flipping their Special Attack and Speed stats would do well for each of them.
Its stats definitely mess it up so I don't fear this no weakness mon like I should. Luxray's speed shoots it in the foot. Plus not having good physical electric moves other than the self hurting wild charge severely limited it
You forgot some abilities that is literally banned in many metagames and draft leagues Apperently but do the same thing Parntal Bond Simple Arena Trap and Shadow Tag
Magic Guard had an additional effect in Gen 4. It made Pokémon with the ability unable to become fully paralyzed. They still got the speed drop from paralysis, but they were able to move no matter what
Well well well let's make some Pokémon OP by giving them a fitting ability : Shukle with multi scale Ninjask with pure power Snorlax with fur coat Smergle with protean Archeops with unburden
I think Contrary should be on the list, I mean who doesn't wants to use a Powerful move and get their stats raised, just look at serperior with contrary and with the move leaf storm.
Why couldn’t Magnezone get levitate? It literally floats and would make it an actually usable mon. Bronzong got it so why can’t the og steel floaty boy?
It's Good but there is a huge counter being Swagger, which makes it reduce attack. It is good but it limits usage as well. Though it makes Leaf Storm, Overheat, and Draco Meteor OP
I don't know why i expected Wonder Guard to make the list lmao. This is actually a great help because I'm building my first ever competitive team and I need to distract with some threats while I prep Shuckle as my sweeper.
Man my favorite most underrated ability is SKILL LINK because game freak keeps that ability under a thousand locks and chains only giving it to a mega with a very common 4x weakness or pokemon who can only access one of the many multi hitting moves because said moves then become base 125 power moves with 90 to 100 accuracy with NO DRAWBACKS, BREAKS SASH, AND STILL KILLS
Imposter deserves a mention. Ditto's usefulness as the ultimate revenge killer in the standard metagame aside, in haxmons, Imposter Blissey is the dumbest thing in existence.
Gotta admit, Libero is a massive game changer. Cinderace already has incredible stats for a starter and his signature move is top notch. He has a very powerful gigantamax forme and very wide move variety. Adding Libero to that made him easily on par or superior to legendaries. He’s just virtually never in trouble in any situation. The ability to change your typing at will is beyond OP.
My predictions before I watch the video: Serene Grace, anything for Greninja that isn’t Torrent, Magic Guard, Huge/Pure Power, Prankster if we’re talking pre-Gen 7, and weather abilities if we’re talking pre-Gen 5. How good did I do?
I used to use the sigilyph set back in the day. It was pretty much unstoppable. Only way you could beat it is if you knocked it out right away. Good list.
i really enjoyed getting a critical hit on my primeape with anger point on my gen 4 pearl play through. it just became an absolute beast with the maxed out attack. even it’s resistances didn’t stand a chance
Idk if you still do the “what if” Pokémon videos but here’s some “What if Ash kept Raticate” “What if Ash never traded Aipom” “What if Brock never left” “What if Ash never meet Bulbasaur” “What if Misty kept Togetic” “What if Ash never met Brock or misty” “What if Meowth couldn’t talk” “What if Team Rocket left Ash alone” “What if Chimchar never went with Ash” “What if Gary was nice” That’s it :P I really enjoy that series
I would agree with the list if Huge and Pure power were number 1. I simply belive nothing is better than having a doubled attack stat. Ill remind you of a certain 2 pokemon that get it. Azumarill and Diggersby. They are both low BST early game rodent type pokemon, yet Huge power is out here making them BL broken in competitive, especially Azumarill with its iconic Belly drum Aqua jet set. And as someone whos done many randomizers with random abilities, I can tell you nothing is more fun then solo running the game with an overpowered Huge power legendary. Literally had a Huge power Groudon around 2 weeks ago, that base 150 attack stat is doubled, and with IVs and EVs calculated in its even higher. I can go on forever about how much I love this ability
Ok guys, let's do a game: take Google Translate, set it to Italian, and write "Libero"; then, press the "Listen the pronunciation" button. Great, now you can pronounce a word correctly.
He forgot wonder guard, which makes you immune to any hit that isn't super effective. There's also neutralizing gas, which can cancel out every other ability.
I honestly like clear body especially on metagross. You can equip him with weakness policy and agility and keep a bulldoze user with you which decreases almost everyone's speed except metagross and then you get a true killing machine. Even haze can't erase his stats.
One ability I would of added is Moxie when you ko the enemy Pokémon the attack stat raise up and it’s regular ability on krookodile, and scafty and hidden in salamance, her across and gyarados
Magic guard is easily the best ability. Magic bounce and contrary should be mentioned on a list like this, especially in a play through. Imagine growl, supersonic, poison powder etc not having an effect on your Pokémon and bouncing them back at the opponent. Espeon is amazing because of this ability! And Contrary Serperior is just nuts with Leaf Storm
What about rock head? Imagine an aerodactyl having this ability and having brave bird that gets STAB plus no recoil(due to rock head)..The move has an astronomical 120 Base Power....just imagine
