Not often that I find someone who also puts Chris above Leon. A lot of times when I say Chris is my favorite character and not Leon, people wrongfully assume I do not like Leon. I do, I just like Chris more. Oddly enough, my first RE game was RE5 and my favorite is the remake of RE1, so Chris Redfield is a big part of the franchise for me.

Barry Burton is my number 1 closely followed by Claire - I love how resilient Claire Redfield when you first meet she’s just an average college student trying to survive an zombie outbreak while helping a emotionally vulnerable child.

We need a Claire and Sherry reunions in a Resident Evil game or team them up in a movie that would be sweet you've already seen Leon and Sherry in Resident Evil 6 now we need to see Claire and Sherry in a Resident Evil game!!!

Rebecca is the perfect example of making a prequel without thinking beforehand.. in resi1 she is scared in some situation and in resi0 she fights alone a tyrant in a close environmemt

Chris always has the weight of the world on his shoulders, he fails, losses a lot of people, but still, at the end he saves, millions.

I have to say Leon is rank # 1 for me because he is a badass with a cool haircut and he fights like john wick. lol. And of course, Resident Evil 4 is still my favorite RE game. I also like Claire Redfield and Ada Wong.

@Nerd Space Games There's more to Carlos that you neglected to mention in your discussion on two points: 1. Jill initially didn't trust Carlos on their first meeting when he mentioned working for the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) but throughout RE3 he was there to back Jill up or get her out of sticky situations, especially when after she was infected by the Nemesis, and unlike Nicholai didn't betray her, which led to the two escape Raccoon City moments before its destruction having trusted him by that point. 2. Carlos had actually believed the UBCS were sent into Raccoon City to rescue civilians but was unaware that in reality he and the mercenaries were sent in to be used as test subjects for Umbrella's BOWs. Not only that but Carlos would then notice that rather than rescue civilians, the UBCS would only extract key personnel that worked for Umbrella Corporation.

Chris Redfield hype! Man, Chris, punching a huge ass boulder with his bare hands, is absolutely legendary and hilarious!

I like Claire because her personality really feel genuine, a kind friendly girl (trying to save Sherry) but on the same time can drop F-bombs to assholes (Brian Irons). For some reason, I never really liked Jill much. Leon is my fave because he has the "Hero journey" trope where we see him as a rookie cop in RE2 but then changed into a cocky special agent in RE4 but on the same time still have his need to protect others. Chris Redfield already started out as a bad ass, but somehow a bit difficult to relate to, so not really big favorite of him. Personal favorite is Hunk. No proper backstory except for hearsay and small snippets of his past, don't really see much of his personality except being really cold and professional.

Having Chris as your no.1 you get my sub. I'm old school as well, Chris was the character I used back in the day to finish RE1 PSONE and he's the most consistent character who's didn't actually change in tone, he's still that tough guy action hero/Captain America boy scout that wants to do the right thing and get rid of terrorism.

I’d have to go with Leon. From a young age me and my dad bonded over RE4 and the character always resonated with me. And now as a full grown adult, I resonate even more with him as I am 5 foot 10 and so is he. Kinda cool to know someone so cool is the same height as you

In terms of special mentions I would’ve put luis in there just because I really like the his charisma and personality he also plays a big part in saving Leon and Ashley but obviously because of his past he wasn’t trusted which was even more sad when he died because there was a bond starting to build between him and Leon but then again can you say he was a main character…

My number one favorite is Rebecca, closely followed by Jill and Ada! I love my RE girls, Sheva and Claire are so special to me as well. I just love watching female characters be bad asses and defy the stereotypes imposed upon them by society❤️

Man choosing a favorite resident evil protagonist is very difficult for me. You have Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Barry Burton, Leon S Kennedy, Ethan Winters, all very well developed and gone through many things throughout the series.

We all knew Jill, Chris, and Leon would be the top three.

My favorite is Claire, she was the most just thrown into the situation out of nowhere, not a cop, not a soldier, no previous experience yet still survived everything and took down some beasts all with a positive attitude. But objectively speaking I think Chris is the best character. I often see people say that Leon is the poster boy for Resident Evil and I don't understand it. Redfields are the goats.

Jill is my favorite, started out RE1 as her, next one I played was RE3 nemesis. Didn’t play 2 at all, played remake a year ago of 2. RE3R has extremely few qualities and mostly is an insult compared to original. Either way 1 and 3 were my introduction. I like leon he’s my second favorite. I actually hate chris, maybe more so for re5….steroid ass boulder punching asshole. I think I just found jill and leon more relateable. Not fond of ada, never cared much for her mystique. I love Chris but my first game was RE2 on the n64 when I was like 10 and when I tell you I played that game more than any other I’m not exaggerating, so Leon is always gonna be number 1 in my heart especially rookie cop Leon

I Had grown up with Leon Scott Kennedy, Resident Evil 4 og was my first Game i owned. So leon is hands down Again my Favorite. Claire Redfield is also my Favorite Character since Resident Evil 2,code Veronica and Resident Evil Revelations 2 Claire Redfield has become my Favorite too. Jill Valentine is my 2nd Favorite female character. Chris Redfield is my Seconds Favorite Charakter. To be honest i love all characters beseids mia and Ethan Winters both are not realy interesting and very blank and Mia is just there so ethan has a reason to go to the baker House. Her Backstory is a mess and unbelievable as hell. Village is the Game i liked the least in every Game.

Ethan is one of my favorite characters. 8 is the only resi game to bring a tear to my eye. Ain't nothing more terrifying or powerful than a man looking for his daughter.

I cut my teeth on the Res evil scene playing Resident evil 2 on the N64. So you'd think Leon would be my go to character. But getting the whole backstory on Chris Redfield....wow, that guy is a true leader and I can get why losing Ethan hurt him, as I can see they have a bit in common. Having just played village I found myself really feeling for poor Ethan. Just a regular guy who only wanted his damn daughter back; but gets put through a ton of crap and takes a beating for it. No matter how much he got hurt, or how tired or hopeless he felt from watching people die around him he kept going. So yeah, Chris and Ethan are going to be my picks.

Me personally I choose Leon as my first since my dad used to play re4 and he was the one who introduced and got me into the resident evil franchise

I like Ethan Winters because he's just a regular guy trying to survive horrifying circumstances while trying to rescue his wife Mia (RE7) and daughter Rose (RE: Village) yes I know he gets infected by the mold and isn't given a vaccine. Then again that just proves how determined he is in saving his loved ones

Jill and Leon are my favorites, followed by Ashley, Sheva, and Carlos. I have similar thoughts on Ada, the overly cryptic/mysterious character thing is just kind of boring to me in general.

I’m surprised you ranked Ethan 5. He’s my favorite character, and when I tell someone that they judge me very hard. Glad you ranked him higher than a lot of other people. I genuinely think if Ethan got a couple more games with Ethan as the main character, he would definitely be up there with Jill, Leon, Chris etc.

Jill. Her story is the most grounded. She's the one that stayed behind and finished the story for the most part.

Sheva is for me the most underated. The loyalty for Chris in the mission and the heart she has for the people infected. AND she has such an iconic design too. I'd love to see her in future titles, with Rebbeca or Sherry.

Jill from RE3 remake doesn't act like Jill at all. They made her so unlikable.

Leon just has alot of fans because Res4 that's the truth while non casuals liked him from 2 but Chris is still my favorite.

With Ethan I feel like the way they were going with him actually being mold was fine, I just wish they would have played it out through at least one more game before revealing it, they could have had us play through 8 and gave us hints but not tell us then play as Ethan agin in 9 and then find out

10 - Ashley (from RE4 Remake), although in the original she is annoying af, in the remake i'd really loved her personality, she's just a frighten girl surrounded by horrible monsters, but she's also lovable, in the remake you do care about her and wants to keep her safe. 9 - Nathalia, similar to Ashley, she wake a kind of fraternal feel in me, like i would fight all those BOWs with my bare hands if i needed to just to keep her safe, and she is very useful, being able to see the monster behind walls. 8 - Moira, coming from the superheroes of RE6 into the more humans characters of Revelations 2, Moira does certainly became one of my favorites, she acts like a normal person would on the kind of situation she was, she screams and curses, she had a trauma of guns,i like those traits, she is a believable person in that game. 7 - Sherry Birking, for the same reason you put in the video. 6 - Leon Kennedy, i know, everybody loves Leon, he is a badass sure, and have a likeble personality, but i always see him more like an action hero, in RE2 Remake he is a good character, you can se he going through a rookie cop to a badass super agent, but the oneliners never appeals to me, and that's why he is here in this spot (and Ethan isn't in this list) 5 - Luis Serra, what can i say about Luis? He's a joyfull character, speacially in the remake, he's dearh surely caught me off guard in the original, and made me hate Saddler so much, that when i blew that mf out in the end, i said "this is for Luis" 4 - Carlos Oliveira, after all, who would want to live in a Carlos-less world? 3 - Jill Valentine, RE 1 was my first Resident Evil, and seeing Jill going from that frighten cop who never deal with something like the zombies in the Spencer Mansion, to a fucking badass able to kick nemesis ass without a thought made her one of my favorites characters in the series, and i do hope we can see her together with Claire and Chris. 2 - Chris Redfield, see, Chris is a tragic hero, every time he shows up something goes terribly wrong, he "lost" Jill, lost his squad, lost Piers and lost Ethan, he's a beast when it comes to strength and military expertise, but he's also affected by all those lost and it clearly affected his mind, a character with such pain and suffering is really interesting and i'm curious to see how they'll treat this in RE9 1 - Claire Redfield, i love how Claire can be a really badass character and still have that sensible side, when i first saw the BSAA i thought that she would be a member of some team, but no, she goes the opposite direction than her brother, instead on going to war against bio-terrorists, she stood to help people affected by those attacks, caring for the injured and try to mitigate the damage without blowing things up, caring for the victms instead going for the responsables, and i love this in her, she's just a good person

If I had to choose my top 3 though it's probably Jill, Leon and Chris in no particular order. Just the most badass and iconic characters. They are the epitome of Resident Evil. Also, RIP Piers. Gone too soon. But he died a hero.

While he’s not my favorite I found Steve Burnside to be one of my most likable characters, yes I know he’s annoying, but I played the game Code Veronica when I was a kid so I really connected with his childish behavior. Maybe they can remake Code Veronica and make him a really good character so his death feels more justified

Claire Redfield for a college student, goes through so much hell in Raccoon City, and having Sherry in tow as well makes her an awesome badass and a caring individual as well. Jill follows as my second fave of the franchise. Barry would be third loved him in Revelations 2. I also respect Leon, but ever since all his appearances in the cgi movies and taking screen time from Claire and that abysmal treatment Inf Darkness Claire got makes me feel some disdain for him.

As much as I like Chris, RE 8 kinda soured my opinion a bit. He could've told Ethan about the Miranda situation, but kept it from him and we all saw how that ended.

I’m also an old school fan of the series but my list differs greatly. My top 10 is the following: 10.- Sheva, her persona and vibe is cool and has an interesting backstory. 9.- Chris. He is the main protagonist of the series and has many ups and downs but he is very boring because his story hasn’t been told well. 8.- Rebecca she has some charm being a nerdy girl and the damsel in distress on the first game. She is young but she and Claire are the same age and Claire doesn’t get the young pass. 7.- Ada, she is cool and all but on 6 and original 4 she is too over the top. I liked her more in original 2 were she is looking for her boyfriend rather then FBI Ada. What I dislike about her is she is mean. 6. - Carlos, I like his attitude in RE 3 remake he has a charm. On nemesis he sucked, they are two totally different persons. 5. - Wesker I like him a lot as a villain. He is playable in RE 4 thus he made it to the list. His voice and arrogance are top nosh and him getting upset when Chris laugh at him when he showed the tyrant was priceless. 4.- Barry Burton, he has the best lines of the entire cast, he was helpful and he was one dam good helper. His charm goes above and beyond and there is a uniqueness to himself. 3. - Claire. She has a very cool personality and despite of having odds against her she was very confident of herself in RE 2, her bond with Sherry, and her story in that game was the main course, it definitely shadowed Leon. It was nice that her years later were not being a soldier but somehow involved. 2. - Leon he is very cool in RE 4 but on the RE2 he always felt like the lesser character. He has a charming personality and a good evolution of character. He is definitely the cool guy and easy to see why many like him. 1. - Jill Valentine. She is the original. Don’t ever mess with the original. Her story in RE 1 was the superior story. Her persona in Original RE 1 was warm, she cared about Richard, forgave Barry and was grateful when rescued by Chris or Barry. She even laughed at the Jill sandwich joke. That is how cool she was. And in RE 3 she was determined to survive at all cost a fighter. Her inner thoughts were cool and how she defeated nemesis giving him star was superb. Also nemesis being the best monster of the series gave her a boost because a hero is only as cool as his villains are and she had the best monster villain of the series and had a rift with the best human villain of the series.

For me, Leon is way more relatable, and the whole first day of work is a zombie outbreak is great. Police academy didn’t give you any training for the crazy shit that went down in raccoon city lol. I do love Chris as well, but re 5 made him more into a superhero to me.

Barry burton is the best for me he’s someone who expresses compassion despite his hardened demeanor and I feel like he’s past the redemption and we can see an all new side of him in a new game. I would love a revelations 3 with Barry Moira Rebecca and Jill as the main characters.
