I’ve never heard anyone say they are more scared of a knife than a gun... especially someone wanting to cause harm.. great list but still a bad guy isn’t going to see a knife and run scared especially if they have a gun.
I find it more scary if the attacker has a knife just because I feel a bad guy with a gun is more likely to feel secure. "I've got a cannon pointed at you" less likely to actually shoot unless provoked or mental state etc. But if someone has a knife they are likely scared too and won't show you the weapon till they have already used it. But if you pull a knife and they have a gun... Yeah you probably fucked lol
Again, I’d like to point out that many states specifically prohibit the carrying of “daggers” as a class, and also a variety of other knives, often by length of blade. Further, “menacing looking” knives like kerambits and the like can be extremely problematic from a legal-defense standpoint. IMO… The most viable “self defense” knife is one that’s quite legal to carry, but quick to open (if a folder) and with a good “grippy” grip. And, it’s still a pretty poor choice for a defensive weapon. In most states currently, it’s easier to carry a firearm.
Push dagger are the best knives for self defense, and with decent boxing skills you can defend against multiple people attacking you, I’m fast and got power in both hands decent boxer I know with the pair of mini push dagger concealed I have no worry lol
It's a SEA OF OPTIONS when it comes to knives. My suggestion to anyone when asked what kind of knife they should carry is "The one you are trained to use the most effectively". You always hear people who ARE well trained suggest training intensely with your firearm that you are going to carry every day, but RARELY...IF EVER...hear someone suggest training to be proficient with a knife. As someone who is proficient with both, when I say that I'd rather be approached and/or attacked with a firearm over a sharp knife ANY DAY. With a firearm, if you train disarm or the individual or defeat the firearm, you stand a chance of not getting shot at all. If you try that with a knife, YOU ARE GOING TO GET CUT. ACCEPT IT. The question is where and how severely you will be wounded, and that depends on how well you've trained for a knife attack, defense, and disarm. I like your choices in this video. I say that with the disclaimer that a double edged karambit, especially(which is my EDC of choice) isn't something I'd suggest for anyone who isn't willing to learn to use it properly. The size of the Schrade Karambit you picked is extremely excessive, and there's too much point, that's way too thin. Something like a Emerson or Fox folder or fixed blade of the same size(if u want it double edged) is more than adequate in size. You'll be much faster and accurate with it too. I REALLY LIKE the Thai-Lite. I've bought a ton of Cold Steel knives over the years but never that one. I thinks I's Need's One😯
if you really want a self defence knife get a small fixed blade because they do not fold and the smaller it is the harder it is to get out of your hand and the easier it is to wield against an attacker.
Yeah but in places like California, any fixed blade has to be in a sheathe and it can't be concealed. Even if it's on a belt, if the edge of a jacket covers any part of the fixed knife, it's considered "concealed." And if it's dangling out in the open, in the sheathe, the sheeple will not hesitate to call the cops on a person. Then the fixed knife carrier has to wait for the cops to arrive and explain themselves or be interrogated on the spot.
I find folding and popping mechanisms really useful and interesting, but personally and having cut myself some times over not being careful enough, I will always rely on solid 1 piece knives

Almost every knife on this list is illegal to carry in my State Co Concealed. The two that are not , are not practical considering local law regarding self defense and the practicality of said blade. Noticed lately that the powers that be do not want you to defend yourself. The current laws on the books make it almost impossible to defend ones self or family with any tool or weapon. The only exception is a firearm , but then there are so many grey areas that if you are forced to use a firearm you better keep your mouth shut till you get a lawyer otherwise you are going to prison. If you decide to defend yourself with anything other than a firearm almost anything practical is deemed illegal in some form or way, either it be a misdemeanor or in some case a class 6 felony.
In most circumstances a knife is more of a passive defense. That’s why i carry one. Ya im a big guy and can beat people in a fight if need be but it’s safer to avoid the conflict. So I open carry a level length fixed blade knife on my hip. It’s not meant to be drawn unless absolutely necessary it’s meant to be something someone sees. And putting it with my height and size it makes me less if a easy target and less likely someone will target me.

Yeah, no. Frame lock folders are terrible for self defense. But please, if you want your people to lose their fingers and shit go right ahead. SOG Gambit fixed blade is the only self defense knife you'll ever need.
