The saying “don’t bring a knife to a gunfight” has a lot of truth to it, but thankfully most fights don’t involve a gun. In most self-defense scenarios, having a knife on you will give you a significant advantage. Along with being a great self-defense weapon, psychologists say that people are more afraid of knives than guns. Long story short, knives scare the hell out of people making them a great deterrent to crime. In this episode, I have compiled a list of some of the best knives for self-defense in the market today.

@@officiallyreloaded1271 there isnt a “best” butterfly knife, there’s different knives for different prices and it depends mostly on your budget. If you want anything that won’t break after 2 days, you need to get a good quality knife, nothing below $50 will be worth it. If you want a live balisong, I’d recommend a squid industries knife. The Krake Raken is an amazing mid-price flipper, goes for around $400. If you are willing to pay more, get a Machinewise Serif

Cool knives. 👍 Defend yourself responsibly. You can get just about any knife you want but it is good to know the laws of your state concerning legality. Just be sure if you carry a knife for self-defense it is legal to carry. If you are ever stopped by the Police, for whatever reason, and they pat you down for weapons be sure its legal or you will lose your knife and possibly get a charge. You can have fun with your cool illegal to carry knives in your backyard or when hanging out with your friends but. Anyhow, enjoy your knives responsibly. I like knives myself. 👍😎✌️

the reason i carry the CRKT Provoke is its deployment. If clipped into a jeans and you pull it out it would deploy itself right the second it leaves your pocket because the "opening handle" catches on your pocket and just delpoys it.

I have more knives then I like to think about, and my collection seems to get bigger every year. Right now I am waiting on a Khukuri with a six inch blade, and a half guard. Not much for thrusting, but for slashing, hacking and chopping, none better. But until that knife is delivered, I have the Cold Steel Braveheart neck knife, but you have to get close and it has very little shock value. But it easy to carry concealed.
@evanharrison4054

Knives are not good for self defense. Most people aren't emotionally equipped to rip into another person's flesh, spill their guts, poke out their eyes. It's messy, it's brutal, not to mention hard to argue for in court. If you want to have a reliable self defense tool that anyone not trained in violence could use, I'd go for something like a billy club. Blunt force trauma isn't so messy and it's a lot less permanent than fileting someone. If you intend to rejoin society after your "self defense", it's going to make it a lot less hard if you only tolchock someone with a stick instead of carving pieces off of them. I'm sorry for the..."less than sanitary wording" but it's important to convey at least in words just how brutal and messy knife fighting is. In Eastern Europe, there's a saying: There's no winners and losers in knife fights, only prisoners and cadavers.

Most average everyday people aren't armed. So if someone starts getting uppity, while you don't actively threaten them, if they approach you with harmful intent and you're still attempting to back away hands raised like no dude don't; then I would draw on them and either give them the choice of continuing their actions or retreating away from me further.
@evanharrison4054
@evanharrison4054 Год назад
@@SeviathTheHumanDrago Still, forced into a fight, I'd rather have like a telescopic baton or a shillelagh than a machete. If they're like on drugs or something and they don't have that "fxxk this guy is armed les run" reaction, you might have to use it, and beating people with the flat side of a bushwhacker is really not that comfortable on your wrists and elbows. Swing a baton at their shinbone and then it's either them limping away or you walking away at a normal walking speed, since they won't be able to pursue you. ...not saying you shouldn't have an oversized knife that's so sharp you can use it to shave without cream, but I'd seriously think on supplanting it with something for situations where you don't want to kill/mutilate your opponents. ...I'm thinking a powder accentuated hammer with .22 PAT blanks that explode when the head of the hammer is slammed against a surface. Barring the possession of equipment befitting an insane garage scientist, I'd go with something solid that will be able to take a lot of punishment. Weighted sticks in general are devastating, but leave little to no scars. Just huge ugly bruises. ...also not like something like a knuckle duster. It *smashes* bones, and more importantly, the yard doesn't look too kindly on people using them. It's actually quite easy to explain to the "blue people" how you maced and then beat some guys who attacked you if that's like third of their job. It's just probably a smarter idea to stick to equipment that's roughly analogous to what they're sanctioned to use against the "uppity" people than something they *wish* they could carry, like a goddamned army sabre. Scratch that. Army sabre all the way. ...with your sidearm being a cap and ball navy revolver. Jokes aside, if you intend to survive the encounter and get out of the aftermath with your rights intact, it's generally a good idea to not go too overboard with the weapons you field. Heck, worst case scenario, you could argue in court that while you had a machete, you decided to *only* beat the snot out of them with a stick and therefore they're still breathing. I've known some bottomfeeders who are employed in the "legal profession" I can tell you tons of people were fxxked by the system because they weren't rich enough to afford a lawyer who can successfully argue for the inalienable right to self defense of a law abiding citizen. If you aren't a millionaire, it's usually smarter to just tolchok your opponents than fileting them like fish. It's like that scene in American History X(what a crapfest...) The guy probably wouldn't have gotten a couple years, had he not fxxking *curbstomped* the guy. He could have probably kicked him around the ground for a couple of minutes, breaking a couple of ribs and teeth and maybe even his jaw and he would've probably gotten away with it. It's not just about justice. It's also about optics. Comport yourself akin to a criminal and you'll be treated like one, even if it's your first offense.

it would be hard for a woman to beat a man with a blunt object, but a knife is actually practical
@evanharrison4054
@evanharrison4054 Год назад
@@mello6600 I disagree. It's really not that hard to swing a blunt force object hard enough to dislocate someone's face. I don't disagree with the general idea of women carrying any type of self defense, but to say that women are inherently incapable of using a mallet to reorganize someone's dental plan, you are wrong. The problem with using your fists is that you kinda screw up your finger bones, but that's true for men as well.

Those are some solid choices for mainstream, budget self defense knives. Tha Spiderco Civilian is absolutely WICKED...as is the DU HOC, which as a guy who prefers to carry a Karambit and is proficient with one, I would usually never choose one that size...however...I think it would be an excellent Malay weapon for a hand to hand situation where body armor isn't a factor. P8nching through a Kevlar plate carrier and Molly rigs isn't exactly easy. I want a knife that's got a spear point or tanto or something that is strong enough for batoning wood and prying, but will pierce and go DEEP...6"+...for a combat situation, but a karambit will always be on me somewhere. It's just incredible for opening packages and breaking down boxes and utility cuts...anything you can do with a box cutter it does better, and any job where I'm going back and forth from using both hands and having to get a knife out because I can just dangle it off a finger and it's a turn of the wrist away for the next cut.

My primary fighting knife is the Mossy Oak brand 14" bowie, strapped to the left side of my chest, hidden by my leather cut. Anyone who has any amount of fighting exp. with edged weapons would laugh at some of the junk I just saw. The only weapon you showed was the Gerber Mk2 non serrated. Anyone wanting a knife that will save thier life should learn to fight using a K Bar USMC fighting knife. The enemy could care less how cool or impressive a bladed weapon looks. Your enemy should feel your weapon, not have time to see it. Survival is a learned skill, not a shiney store bought item.

Kara bits are terrible self defence weapons. Incredibly short range (even compared to other types) and has to be use in a very specific way to be effective. Even assuming you live somewhere where there are no legal implications to carrying a knife, it requires a lot of training to be used effectively and safely. Contrast that to a double edged dagger and basically anyone can pick that up, use a very intuitive movement (a thrust) and be effective.
