Hey, Anthony! Such an excellent and well-researched ranking! I actually guessed your #1, and I knew you were definitely going to include Medusa. I have some nostalgic fondness and appreciation for the mythology stop-motion animation used in #10, #7, and #3. There was also some solid stop-motion used for some rather frightening puppets in Tales From The Hood as well. Appreciate the breakdown, my friend! 👏👏👏
@FeverDreamlandTheater
@FeverDreamlandTheater Год назад
Hey D, yeah this was a case where I know technically many other stop-motion creatures are more advanced and move smoother, but I still just went with what feels like my personal fav of them all. On the topic of Tales From The Hood, I recall the puppet I think swinging from a chandelier. He was great too. I really have to give that a rewatch. Thank you for the watch and the comment man. Be well! : )

That 2 headed dragon and ED-209 design are absolutely absolutely incredible. Phill Tippett is undefeated! Also, I will never forget that Medusa design. I remember watching Clash of The Titans for the first time during that tense scene. I was blown away. Great stuff. Fantastic countdown, good sir!

The Eborsisk (that the name of the two headed dragon) from Willow was truly a scary but cool monster. I even use to have the toy of it as a kid. The 1981 version of Clash of the Titans will always be better than the 2010 version, no matter what.

The Gate! Omg! Haven't seen that in 30 years. I recently saw the skeleton scene in 4k, super clean and interpolated. A rare time I would say it helped an already classic fight.

This was most, most excellent. You know I love the stop motion. And this was a fantastic look at the art. You really hit several of my all time favorites. The Ymir. The Minions. ED-209. And of course, possibly my favorite as a lad the Cyclops. Not sure if we've talked about Mighty Joe Young before, but that was a childhood favorite as well. I probably watched it more than King Kong.

Hey Rob! It's possible we talked about the classic Mighty Joe Young before. A while back I listed it as a hidden gem, ha ha, I am always recommending that movie whenever possible or giving it a shout. Yeah this one was super fun and a little break from the Zone for a bit. Thanks as always for coming by and here's to a wacky week ahead.

Stop Motion animation was truly magical. In fact, It's as magical as 2D animation and puppet movies. (Like the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.) If only we had more Stop Motion animation today.

The difference between CGI and Stop-Motion is that Stop-Motion feels more authentic, like if it's actually there with the actors. After watch the Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared tv show, I can say that I like stop motion more than CGI, with Fantastic Mr. Fox being one of my favorite films of all time and bring fully Stop-Motion. Anthony, this was an awesome list! There were a few that I had a feeling were going to rank high and I was not disappointed because they are so deserved. What this really made me want to do was go back and rewatch some of those Harryhausen films especially Jason and the Argonauts. And then there were other movies I hadn't even thought of in forever like The Gate! But of course was there ever any doubt that King Kong would not be #1. It remains for me the gold standard, although Mighty Joe Young I agree is a close second.

The Children of the Hydra and Talos would be in my top 10 as well as Medusa. The Centaur VS Griffin and Kali from the Sinbad films would be on there along with Gwangi from The Valley of Gwangi and the giant crab from Mysterious Island (which incorporated an actual crab shell/ exoskeleton.)

There's something special about stop motion animation. I actually wanted to do stop motion at one point and do videos on them for youtube. It's a very time consuming process too making sure the animation is nice and smooth, but the end result is worth it. Excellent top 10 my friend!

Hey Charles! Did you ever get to film any of your stop motion? This was a fun topic to go down the rabbit hole on. Even prior to 'Lost World', there were all kinds of earlier efforts. As usual, you hit one out of the park, my friend. I liked all of your choices, though a few were new to me, such as Cain in _RoboCop 2,_ and now I want to see the movie. Like you , _Mighty Joe Young_ is a big favorite of mine (great from beginning to end!), and Kong definitely gets top billing--it's sad that the Japanese filmmakers of 1954's _Godzilla_ found stop motion too expensive--a man in a giant monster suit just doesn't cut it. Here are a few more creations that merit consideration: Cowboys, Indians, and Dinosaurs! *_The Valley of Gwangi_* (1969) More Ray Harryhausen? Of course! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X0i0RSpQEf8.html Stop motion can be extremely disturbing at times, as in the MTV-featured video "Sober" (1993) by the band Tool: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nspxAG12Cpc.html But also in 1993 came this holiday classic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jv8lGa_ZXao.html *_The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,_* a 2005 comedy-horror film that has very detailed work: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qW5X1S6VKQ8.html
