This!!!! My favorite part of starting a new character is specializing in a new set of skills. All kinds of builds will work. I very rarely come across players that use similar combat styles apart from a few meta bros here and there and I love that about this game. Everyone even other players feel organic and unique to this extremely deep world.

Yeah I feel like the more you’ve played these games the less you care about the “strongest” or “meta” builds. I just like using fun weapons and I never stick with just 1.

Used a dex and int scaling weapon while pumping stats into vigor and strength. imo, it was a hell of a run. especially malenia. took me almost 4 hours to kill her. man, iirc, i was using a regular straight sword and the crystal sword. i thought they looked cool so i stuck with them until the end of the game.

Colossal weapon user here! Got a few suggestions for anyone picking up the starbeast jaw or any other large bonking utensil for the first time: -First off, timing is everything! Take time to get used to your bonker of choice, you'll slowly pick up when to start an attack and when to dodge/move away. -Roll attacks are surprisingly fast but short reach. good for hit and run -Don't get greedy! Start off by landing one hit, then backing off. As you get the hang of stagger you can risk a follow-up attack, but make sure you have enough stamina left to dodge twice. (A LOT of enemies have enough reach to still get you if you only roll once) -Jump attacks are extremely versatile, specially if you get the hang of when to hit an attack. Right after your jump for fast but short range, right before you land for a slight delay and longer distance. For max distance make sure you hit a running jump. - If two handing, remember weapons have damage negation stats too! -Timing not so good? Throwables and spells are a good way to slow down faster enemies. Personal weapon recommends: Rusty Anchor, Great Mace, Longhaft Axe, Prelate's Inferno Crozier, Giant Crusher Hope this helps someone!

I decided to start a new character on my PS5 in celebration for the DLC I'm already at the Golden Capital after only 26 hrs. Its also my first time running a pure Strength build and man it truly is fun to Bonk everything using that Grafted Sword. ❤

Another honorable mention: Ordovis's greatsword! This thing yeah has holy dmg but it scales with an A in strength, does mostly pure ar AND has a weapon art that is a poise breaking machine (ive heard it does about 82 poise dmg)! Also the hyper armor of a freakin GOD for the weapon art! No joke this sword is INSANE and deserves so much more love imo! Great vid btw my guy!

Death's Poker is so ridiculous, even when just carrying enough INT to use it. The frost buildup is fast, the light-attack follow up can go up and down surfaces, and it's fun to pair with BB or another flame-sword to retrigger frostbite. And it's fairly easy to get early on.

Bloodhound Fang diehard. On my first play through, it was the weapon I kept coming back to because I simply really enjoyed using it. It also looks menacingly cool. I recall early on I accidentally stumbled upon Bloodhound's Finesse. I didn't realize what it did. I was like, "What the.....?!". I never looked back after that. I duel wield those babies all day, every day.

My guess is that frenzy will play a big part in the DLC. Its a great concept in the game thats largely under used in the main game and would be cool to have more weapons/builds oriented around it. I can only use the Vyke spear for so long

I'm on my new game plus, trying out new weapons for the dlc. I fell in love with two weapons I had never used, the Twinned Knight Swords and the Dismounter. I wonder how I didn't use them before. the Twinblades with Loretta's Slash Ash of war Is like Star Wars lightsaber.

I got a nice arsenal, but I’m rolling into the DLC with Executioner’s great axe. From is notorious for making DLC enemies & bosses either immune or highly resistant to all schools of magic & status effects.

I'm going in with the nightriders glaive maxed out with BFT and a flame art infusion to make it scale with holy. I like the godskin version for an early game alternative, but it doesn't have faith scaling, which imo is causing it to not deal as much damage. After the fire scorpion, holy scorpion, flame grant me strength, and golden vow the AR of the glaive is like 1280 or so. Plus, it's got really good reach. Also, take the dragon talisman 2 or 3 and the shield talisman to help negate some of the physical damage. That build cooks, literally. I shredded Radagon and the Elden Beast ridiculously quick with it.

Im a pure str build but this choice intrigues me having used the glaive with BFT myself. do u have a str/faith split in the numbers or is it just pure faith and what RL level ...? Im curious about trying Str/faith at some point.

Erm... Nagakiba, Dark Moon Great Sword, Death's Poker, Reduvia anyone, anyone? Maybe the Crescent Moon Halberd (you know, the one with the 'S' scaling in Arcane? lol) or Great Knives, Scavenger's Curved Swords, Magma Blades, Eleanora's Twinblade, not to mention effing Raptor Talons. Whatever, just pick which one you have the most fun using & enjoy the DLC.

In my 1st playthru and just got godfreys axe , it is S tier for croud control . The aow clears out any enemy in its aoe and the special heavy attacks send em flying . It's crazy fun .

Uchigatana, yes! Just completed a rune level 1 run with it. But now, I just cannot stop bonking enemies and bosses with the Iron Cleaver's full-charged R2 + Royal Knights Resolve lol. Heavy-infused, it has S-scaling in STR.

(1) on Great Stars, mix it up by using just one with Wild Strikes, swapping to appropriate talismans of course. On some bosses/enemies, that's far more effective than the dual wield jump attack. (2) Death's Poker shoulda bin on the list

I feel like for a list like this. Bandit's Curved Sword is a good, easy weapon to use. Especially if you did NG+ (or, like me, had Millicent's Prosthesis dropped for you). Two Flame Art Bandit's Curved Swords. Rotten Sword Insignia, Millicent's Prosthesis, Claw Talisman, and.... Whatever for the last slot. I use Old Lord's Talisman because I use buffing incantations. But, you could also go with the Fire Scorpion Talisman if you're gonna take no damage. (Or just fight a boss with no physical attacks.) Then the Fire Boosting, and Multi-Hit Boosting Physic Flask. Buff yourself up with Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength and.... Shred Radagon in a few jumping attacks. Like, I was dealing massive damage to him even in a co-op session someone invited me to. And, at least according to them, it was in NG+7.... And if you want to go for full overkill, the Raptor's Black Feathers for an additional jump attack boost. (Only reason I don't use it is because my character looks better with the Drake Knight armor.)

I have 6 characters, including one that I beat NG+1 on for a total of 7 playthroughs. All are 150 except the NG+ char at 220 or so, but each is a different build based on weapon class: Colossal Hammer/Greatsword, Moonlight Sword/Carian Sorceries, SONAF, Katanas w/bleed or cold, Godslayer's Sword, and Starscourge Greatsword. Will probably go through on a fresh playthrough but will check out what is OP and adapt one of the existing builds to that to see how badly I optimized on the first playthrough

Blood iron cleaver is great with stamp upercut or wild strikes strenght/arcane. The charged heavy attack will chase enemies down also to help hit insane damage and posture attacks, insane weapon.

After over 1k hrs, the most surprising weapon I found recently was dual-wielding hammers. Using Str/Fth they cause one heck of a ruckus!! Lands Between...? between deez hammers!! LMAO

Hello dear bro! I found the list you offered very interesting, especially because it has a certain originality and an interesting, well-explained criteria behind it, as always. However, I would like to know why, if a large part of the argument behind each choice is its ease of use, you didn't include the greatsword and the nagakiba... I think I speak for almost the entire community when I say that the nagakiba is objectively better than the moonveil and the uchigatana, and many other weapons like the scythe (though this one is also great, except for the final bosses). Also, few combinations, if any, trivialize the difficulty of the game as much as the lion's claw or giant hunt on the greatsword. Another question, wasn't the weapon art of the meteorite beast weapon heavily nerfed? I ask because I saw you dealing good damage with it and I would like to know if those are updated videos, as I would be interested in using it. In any case, it’s just my opinion. My reccomendation would be the giant hunt ash of war. Malenia can be infinitely stunlocked with a greatsword with giant hunt. So if theres a new boss/enemy that flinches easliy then you'll destroy them.

First time playing any souls game ; I’m around level 120 , I’ve gone with a dexterity: arcane build , I crush with the rivers of blood +10 and Nagakiba +23 then the Bloodhounds fang +10 for stubborn bosses . But I’ve considered leveling up intelligence or maybe even doing a rebirth and adding to intelligence so I can use the moonveil Katana

You get like 17 rebirths each playthrough so I would try all kinds of things. But I will admit dex arcane is hard to beat. Be warned though, switching to anything else will feel weak at first just because you have to develop a new style, so don't judge to quickly.

8:05 What do you mean by that? I have a 20str 80dex build, my Swordspear has 312+472 attack power while the keen rotten greataxe gets 345+474, the non rotten version probably gets even more bonus from dex.

Given how much fire is evident in the trailers, I'm expecting the DLC to flip from the base game where fire was powerful at the end and holy was not to holy being the top style (like that image of the seven around the glowing stand).

Commenting this before I finish the video but make sure you have plenty of larval tears and smithing stones to change your build. You could be running BB then all the enemies have fire resistance for example. I also want to be able to use new weapons I find and upgrade them so I plan on staying ready for change

The Bloodhound Fang is my go-to in Elden Ring. It was the weapon I first beat the game with so it will always be dear to my heart lol. It’s like the Saw Cleaver in the sense that it will NEVER fail you from start to finish of the game. I always prioritize this weapon when I play this game. The only other weapon that I might switch over from my BHF is the Grave Scythe. Add spinning strikes to it or storm caller, or even Sword Dance, and you’re going to shred everything, esp with golden vow on a dagger on the side just for the buff, flame grant me strength and bloodflame blade, you’re unstoppable.

I just gfinished collecting EVERY weapon in the game (minus like 4 that I locked myself out of...) and leveling my stats to the point that I am able to meet the requirements for every weapon and spell. I am fully loaded and ready for anything.

If youre just getting into Elden Ring and reading the comments I highly recommend the Bloodhounds Fang. That weapon is playing on easy mode. Get your faith to 15 so you can enchant your weapons as well, highly necessary in the end game.

Personally I'm taking in eleonoras poleblade, twinblades are the most fun weapons in the game for me and I love a bleed build

Im a pure strength build despite having tried other builds including Quality and Dex/bleed. And im going to beat the hardest bosses in the DLC with my colossal swords and weapons 🙂 just like I staggered the Elden beast with my crusher 😂 Have only two characters but at different RL levels

I can almost guarantee they're going to strip characters of EVERYTHING as they enter the Shadow. They dropped info regarding "Attack Power" working similar to Sekiro, meaning weapons will almost certainly be worthless.

The ONLY nesasary weapon in my opinion is the Sacred Relic Sword you get from beating the game. Because of it's use in Farming alot of runes in post game, so you can start NG+ with better stats and make it a more fun

I have managed to finish Elden Ring 7 times. I am on my 8th olay through. I still need to kill Melania....but I have every ending. Elden Ring was my first FromSoft game. My first play through took over 4 months. I am hooked! I think the DLC is going to be considerably harder. I get DS 2 cibes from the trailers. Let F Go‼️

I've beaten the game twice, killing every boss. The first time, malenia took about 5000 tries, but I was finally able to introduce her to defeat. The second time, I fought her with rivers of blood and falling star beast jaw, and wrecked her after a couple of attempts. Of course, this made me feel like an elder rang master, and I almost felt bad for her, due to how quickly she went down. I recently decided to start a 3rd run to prepare for dlc. No problems until malenia, but now she is destroying my ass with her one shotter moves on every attempt, even when using black knife Tish, rivers of blood, and falling star beast jaw. I've gotten almost to the end of her second phase a few times, but then she'll hit me once and it's back to the start. It almost seems like she has 2 different aggression levels that are randomly predetermined as you enter the fight. She will either be relatively passive and focus on the summon, allowing you to administer some decent damage (until she catches you with a one shotter, at least), or she will just ignore the summon and spam her seemingly neverending jump spin bs attack until you're dead. I really hope fromsoft don't plan on putting more enemies like malarnia in the dlc, because dying a million times to a nearly undodgeable move that also heals the boss is not fun. I know there are people who can dodge every attack without getting hit, but having a PhD in calculus and the reflexes of a methed out cat shouldn't be a requirement for beating a damn videogame boss.

If she starts driving you completely nuts, I still think rivers of blood, falling star beast jaw (mainly for her second phase), black knife Tish, and maybe the weapon from the final boss remembrance with the "wave of gold" special move (that move has insane range and is pretty much guaranteed to knock her down if she doesn't dash dodge it, or jump before it hits (I think it helps if you don't lock on when using that move)), is probably the best setup to take her down. Just wait until she is in her lower aggression state, so she's not endlessly spamming the tiltawhirl of death move, and when she goes after black knife Tish, run up and unload ROB special attack, back up, rinse, repeat. Then dodge that first one shotter scarlet rot attack at the beginning of her second phase (lock off, run away, roll away from her a couple of times when she lands), and then start unloading on her with the falling star beast jaw until you have to dodge again, and pray she doesn't land a hit... It's decent on most bosses but the lack of hitsun makes rapiers really poor against larger mobs.

I think im going into dlc with my lvl 325 strenght dex archane build with dual wield scavenger curved swords and dual wield omen cleaver with dragon seal for some incantations

should of given an honourable mention tot he Bandit's Curved Sword, farmable early in Limgrave. can be infused with everything and has the curved sword move set, so very forgiving with high damage output. i highly recommend it for bosses
