Some links to a few plants that work with most of the cichlids on this list: - Anubias Barteri - geni.us/CxmAnz - Java Fern - geni.us/SyEYJBS - Windelov Java Fern - geni.us/rkYNsBM - Plant Weights - geni.us/4iWZZZ
Thank you so much for this video. I have always thought cichlids were beautiful but did not like the sterile sand and rock look of the tank. I will be getting some of these and give them a planted tank home!
Lol. I have 4 of these!!! 2 angels, a ram and a electric blue acara in my 90 gal ( full planted). Used to have 3 electric blue acaras but 2 paired up and where super aggressive and started unplanting all my plants because they where making the nest on the sand for the babies. Also i have shell dwellers in a 33 gal long with anubias, java fern, jungle vals and duckweed.
I have angelfish and an acara in my 55. Either the acara or the Filipino blue Angel is ripping up my small leaf stem plants. I’ve had at least $50 in plants ruined in the last few weeks.
As someone who has had Severums for decades, I've found that it comes down to the specific Severum in whether they eat the plants or not. I currently have a full grown Severum in a planted tank with no issues with him eating the plants.
I have a mated pair of red spot sevrums and they eat every plant that's been in the tank including my pathos roots in the tank! They also try to destroy my plastic plants!
Once again great information as always but question when it comes to bigger cichlids like Pike cichlids or some of the larger spices what is the best to keep with plants?
Should I wait to get my group of red head tapajos since they’re out of stock and get the Severum and EBA I want, or just wait for the group of RHT first?!
Acara are pretty docile, unless paired up and breeding. I had a geo in with my acara and had to move the geo because he was being so mean to the acara. After that the acara ballooned in size and colored up beautifully. I have one acara in with 4 angels, red eye monks, zebra & leopard danios and a pictus cat. They get along great now.
I love my electric blue acaras. I keep them in planted tank. But the largest one i have does pick at my sword plants and they dont look great now. May have to end up moving him to another tank
Guys is there any plants that i can grow without substrate and co2 set ups? I have 4ft 260 litre tank with 3 severums (2 small and 1 big), 2 blue acara (small), 1 fire mouth (small), 2 geophagus orange head and 1 red jewel. I have a normal sand substrate.
Why the Zebra Acara isn't popular in the hobby is beyond me. One of my favorite cichlids. I have 3 juvies growing out still. They grow very slow though. Don't forget floating plants for Tangs.
@@CichlidBros I just got 2 Geophagus topajos today and they’re pretty aggressive toward one another should I get another one to bring down the aggression or just wait and see if it calms down?
Really dont agree about kribensis being non aggressive every time ive had a male it'd bully every fish regardless of size or species so i stear well clear, i love them but damn theyre assholes
