@@noblerecords hi ....like you posts! .... did you ever hear of Vangelis and his prog 60-70s band Aphrodite's Child ....and their super lp '666' ? The main song 'Aegean Sea' ....super chill!! Vangelis also did soundtrack to 1st Blade Runner film (ambient sound 15 years ahead of everybody else). He also won the Academy Award for theme song to film 'Chariots of Fire'. Vàngelis has a huge list of scores for European films. He's recognized as a living musical genius. Check him out!!

You werent there living the incredible moment too young. Rumours , Tumbleweed Connection, Abraxus, almost any later Beatle album better than Abbey Road a meek swan song. No CSNY, David Bowie no too post classic, the Who? Missing ... you had to be there, otherwise just a historian.

Clearly the immense sales of Dark Side of the Moon proved its popularity, making it the better album, but it's been overplayed & spoken about too much. I feel this is part of reason that people prefer Wish You were Here. That & the fact that it's one thing to make a phenomenal album, but to follow up with another masterpiece, makes WYWH so adorned, IMHO.

Once again, as with all ur lists, I could not possibly agree more! SUPER SOLID picks (and Hon. This is a dude who knows his Rock right here.

Enjoyed hearing your classic rock picks. This period (1970-1975) was when I formed my musical tastes that endure to this day. I've owned 90% of those on vinyl. Paranoid was the first one I ever bought in '71. We just vary on which albums we liked better by each artist. ( Dark Side, Close to the Edge,Sticky Fingers,Live @ the Fillmore, etc.).

That was fun. It’s your channel, your taste, and your record store. Hell, you can do whatever you want bro. I liked your list. It put a smile on my face because most of those albums provided the soundtrack of my young life. From age 12 onward. I was trying to grow up as these were originally released. Back when I was rocking a Pioneer receiver, a Dual turntable, and an Akai reel-to-reel. Thanks for this. Still smiling and wanting to go crank my stereo rig up. 👍🏼😎🎶

@polypetalous

@@chrisames2795 Not to argue as it really is all a matter of opinion, and lordy dont we all have 'em, BUT when In the Court of... came out was there really a genre known as "prog rock?" And to answer my own question, the interwebs say that the Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed" was the first "prog album" (again, opinion) but we are talking a matter of a couple of years between that and ITCOTCK ... at that point wasn't it all still "rock n' roll?" ... certainly wasn't "classic" when it was first released... And I am just throwing my "thought on it" out there, as I have found "Progressive Rock" (or "progressive" music as a whole) to be one of the hardest genres to define in simple terms (or at all).

Killer! I will say that, having grown up listening to classic FM rock radio in the late 70s/early 80s, the song 'In The Court Of The Crimson King' was in fairly regular rotation in late night programming. I was very familiar with that song long before I bought the album. Of course anyone younger probably missed out on those days of FM classic rock.

I found a lady on Facebook that had a ton of records for sale she was adamant about $3 a piece and I was low on money so I just grabbed what I like she had three copies of Let it bleed one in mint condition with the poster in it the other two not so great that were really scratched and of course I accidentally grabbed one of the bad ones. By the time I found out and contacted her she already sold all of them to a local record store at I'm sure a discount. In the future I know now to take my time. Let It Bleed is definitely a great album and one of the reasons is Nicky Hopkins on piano without a doubt one of the best piano players

Excellent selections! As you said, they are your opinion so none are wrong. I lean more toward the 1967 debut album "Are You Experienced" for the Jimi Hendrix selection (My personal favorite is "Axis: Bold as Love"). As far as core classic rock it includes "Purple Haze", "Foxy Lady", Hey Joe", "The Wind Cries Mary" and "Manic Depression". Talk about colorful influential sonic canvases. Rock on Dillon!

Love your videos man, great list. Love the Cosmos mention, to me that album has everything great about classic rock. It’s got the blues, the psychedelia, it’s got the rockabilly tracks, a killer soul cover, country, and flat out rock. And even though it has all those elements, every song is unmistakably Creedence, and a great snapshot of that era. What a band. I think only Zep can stand up to them when it comes to a long chain of perfect records with no duds. Zep 1-6, creedence first 6 albums. I’d almost include Beatles’ Rubber Soul all the way to Abbey Rd, except I never liked Sgt Pepper’s (yeah I know, I can’t help it). Can’t think of any other bands with 6 albums in a row of that high a quality. Hell even my favourite band the Stones best run was 4 (beggars to exile). If only they did Some Girls and Tattoo You a little sooner...

I know you said up to 1975, but when taking about classic rock you have to go to at least 1976, and mention Boston’s 1976 debut. Fantastic dual guitars, a pulsing rhythm section and of course the soaring vocals of Brad Delp - one of the greatest voices ever. Not a single bad song on the entire album. “Something About You” is one of the greatest songs ever laid to tape.

Nice list man. Personally i would change Paranoid for Masters of Reality, Zep II for Physical Graffitti, Electric Ladyland for Axis Bold as Love. Throw in Montrose by Montrose, Night at the Opera by Queen , Machine Head by Deep Purple , Quadrophenia by the Who, Johnny the Fox by Thin Lizzy amongst many others but music is subjective, we love what we love, the world would be a duller place if we all thought the same way.

I am 65 yrs old and we agree on most of your list. I would have put "In The Court Of The Crimson King" higher on the list and would have left off Bowie. I never considered Bowie and later punk to be classic rock. There were too many great bands and albums that should have that spot. I definitely agree that the cut off on ground breaking classic rock was 1975. I turned my radio off during the disco crap and focused on my albums I had collected from the mid 60's to the early 70's.

Agreed, Let It Bleed is the best Rolling Stones album. Great video, hard to choose just 10.

I’m pretty much with you with most of those. Especially The Doors, Zeppelin and Bowie. I’d have to personally drop a Who album in there and something by Deep Purple as well.

Top 10 picks are very good. You can do a top 100 and still not include them all. So much to choose. Records n albums n music that came out in late 60’s to mid 70’s are all on top. That period was the best for rock music. Thumbs up! 👍

Saw you ask the question on IG & I nearly replied with Appetite For Destruction. Glad I didn’t now! I was so sure you’d pick The Who after you mentioning so many 60/70’s British bands. I know nothing about The Greatful Dead so I’m off to check them out 👍🏼

Great picks. Of course everybody's list would be different but that's what makes us all unique.....how we hear the music that means so much to us. With that being said I would like to speak with you about opening a record shop in salisbury nc and wondered if you had any tips. Really enjoy your channel and wisdom always informative.
