I really have to thank you, I'm a Brazilian cosplayer, as many people here, i try to make my cosplays but the cosplayers never uses Eva foam or your materials, they also buy costumes, and that was making me sad, but when i discovered your channel, i make my first Eva foam cosplay, a mecha body, i felt so good and everyone in my team liked too, and now i can do whatever i imagine with it, so, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
I totally second the "BUY IT WHEN YOU SEE IT" on fur (and leather) - I learned this the hard way - and this mostly made me the fabric hoarder that I am today. lol. But seriously, the fabric (fur) that I've bought years ago, I get to use on recent projects which veeeery convenient and lessens the stress. :)
@@KamuiCosplay i agree books are great. And im seriously considering buying one of yours. Im very interested in a leather desing. Do you have a book that includes fake leather as a topic?
One amazing sewing notion I've discovered in the past year is wonder tape. It's a double-sided water soluble tape that's very useful for aligning fabrics when sewing (such as zippers or appliques) since you just stick it down (rather than fighting pins for a long time). I used it when sewing a zipper this year and was like 'wow. how did it take me this long to try this thing out'. Def recommend if you're going to sew on a lot of detail pieces that would be tough to pin :D
Hehe. I held my breath so long.. Had to pause for a few seconds to breathe, before continuing. She said it in the end though, so I can now rest peacefully till the next video comes out! :-D
I haven't even started doing any cosplay, but have been watching you for 2 years. Your energy, Benny, doggos aaand "buy my books" make it worth watching ;*
Hi there. My favorite item for cosplay is......... wait for it...... IT'S YOU and your videos! I love watching them and getting inspiration from them. Thank you ever so much for them and for the corgis too. Take care and God bless.
As a seamstress my favourite materials are almost all fabrics. I love Silk Dupioni, taffetas and recently liking wool a lot more after learning tailoring. My favourite crafting materials is foam clay because of course most sewn costumes also need some accessories!
Annie Chie since most of what I do is historical costuming (renfaire), I'm usually looking for handkerchief linen, cotton damask (in appropriate patterns - really hard to find!), cotton velveteen, and wool velvet (for late October outdoor events). Home dec warehouses are my friends! Long cuts, cheap prices if you know what to look for. Cut-down duct ties from Home Depot are great inexpensive bones for stays and bodices. Hemp cording, though heavy, is needed for certain styles of bodices and petticoats.
I really like the duo cardboard/papermache. It's really cheap, it gives you the opportunity to recycle, it's really easy to use and gives you a smooth result if you smooth it out with you figers before letting it dry !
When you were talking about how you use faux leather and showed those boots I got such a throwback omg- That was the video that got me into Kamui Cosplay :D
I've been working on a helmet and I found shrink sheet plastic pretty good for the visor. I put some window film on it as well to give it a gold mirror effect.
Personally I do like using normal wigs when I make glued hairlines.... although it could be easier to make it with a lace front because I could glue hair directly on the lace front and wouldn't need to put felt below.... And now I kinda am getting more into the crafting side because I want to cosplay a character that doesn't have any costume available.... But yea wigs .... They're fun to do although it's a lot of work 😂
I don't even cosplay but her energy and voice make these videos entertaining. Although it has given me inspiration to make Halloween costumes for my kids instead of buying them
Please, A-L-W-A-Y-S wet-sand Acrylic / Polycab. The sanded Acrylic is quite bad for your lungs! Dry-sanding Carbon fiber is also dangerous. That said, I L-O-V-E this channel. You 2 are great at making content. And you present it with such joy and excitement!
yea, I've been a fan of the mass effect trilogy for years, since I was a little lad, and i always wanted to try cosplaying as admiral hackett or captain andersons final look in mass effect 3, with the hat, the earpeace, and the clothing. i want to try, but dont know how to, this video gave me confidence, but idk hey xD
You mentioned you don't feel comfortable working with animal products, may I get your opinion on using recycled leather? I will collect leather to use for cosplay from leather couches people throw out, it takes me about a half hour to get a couple yards of leather when I see one.
I havent used lace front wings yet but I plan too for future cosplays. I usually buy high quality wings. I found somthing that helps with people that have alot of baby hairs or hair that wont stay in the wig cap, is do hair spray or glue down your hair hairline. This also helps keep the front the wig from slipping.
Hello there. Eventually I'll be doing cosplay and replicas and I swear I'll marathon every freaking video in this awesome channel. I love Monster Hunter and I'm honoured to have the same passion of talented people like you (and your boyfriend, right? I don't know this channel, so I'm just assuming). Anyways you're awesome
This is awesome! I feel really inspired and excited for this halloween and wanna make my first cosplay and want to make an Inosuke mask and swords and i feel depending on the price i could make something good with this info tysm!❤❤❤
Number one crafting materal at my place is PLA, Second place is PETG, Third place is TPU. I would have put 3d printer on your listing myself as there is a surprising amount of files out there for horns, masks, wings and other cosplay items that can be downloaded, printed and then painted.
An essential when you start moving from generic patterns to fitting things exactly is Assembil Books How Patterns Work. It takes you from beginning to end, of creating and adjusting patterns, working from blocks, you name it!
Here I am, watching Videos, because I would love to build Darius Axe for my Girlfriend as a christmas/birthday present, because she absolutly loves the champion. And then you are casually going through those books and there is a picture of Darius with his Axe ... Now I want it.
I like pvc foam board like Sintra. Found out about it from the Mandalorian Mercs. Its awesome for making armour. I'm planning to try a full suit of renaissance plate armour with it.
I just got the digital downloads for a few of your books! So excited! :) I will also definitely check out the others as well! Thank you for inspiring me to finally do so! (I have been viewing for a couple months)
Great top 10! Always get excited to see a new post from you guys. I started on foam, now using my 3D printers for suit building, but I'm still amazed at what you do with foam. Good to know about Worbla as well. Keep it up! :)
Hello Kamui, I just wanna say that i admire you and beni so much, and i hope one day i could be so good as you, please keep doing on well. The_Sword_Player.
Hey there! I know I'm not Kamui, but in my own experience, a hair dryer won't get hot enough to do the job. You can pick up a pretty cheap yet durable heat gun from Harbor Freight, if I'm not mistaken. Happy crafting! :)
If you don´t have the money, don´t buy Neopixel LED strips from Adafruit! They are just brand-name WS2812b LED strips which you can get for much less money.
I would love to see a video on any tips and tricks you've learned to help make costumes more comfortable. Anyway, I love the way you do your videos, you and Benni are such an inspiration! Thanks for all your hard work and sharing! :D
WatashiwaJouhouDesu See one is custom tailoring to YOUR body, some is learning how to move in the costume. You may want a friend to help you make a duct tape double for the tailoring part...
ich habe wegen ihnen angefangen cosplays zu tragen, machen und so weiter! danke für die Motivation!! I started wearing, doing cosplays because of you! thanks for the motivation!!
It is hard to buy any Worbla in Ukraine, so this is my list for eastern Europe: Eva foam, PVC pipes (both for plumbing and ventilation), particle board and wood, gabardine, polyester, all sorts of glue: PVA, rubber, cyanoacrylate, polyurethane
