Mine too. Well, at least, it's my favorite 50's/60's TV show. Have you seen "The Six Millimeter Shrine?" if you haven't, you should. It's a great episode and has a heart warming ending. I also like, "The Midnight Sun."

As important as Star Trek: The Original Series was, it defined the 70's and 80's to a far greater degree. I have no doubt we'll see Star Trek: The Next Generation on the 80s or 90's list too.

The British import The Avengers from 65-68 w/Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee was near perfect and they hold up very well to this day.

I agree, although I always preferred The Avengers with Linda Thorson. I feel The Prisoner, Danger Man, The Saint plus others should also be mentioned. People still meet in Portmeirion for The Prisoner convention even today.

Star Trek should have been number 1 or 2. Star Trek has led more Americans interest into science and space travel short of Moon landings.

@@youtubeistryingtocensorme Science fiction fans were watching it in it's original prime time run. The same core crowd that followed The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, and to a lesser extent, One Step Beyond, Thriller, The Alfred Hitchcock Show... A massive letter writing campaign to NBC saved Trek from cancelation after its second season, producing Trek's third, and basically awful, final season. It's true, however, that Star Trek in reruns attracted a massive mainstream crowd that made it the legendary hit it's thought of today. Why that's so, has never been adequately explained. It may have been due to the rise of commercial UHF stations, and the fact Star Trek had only been off the air about a year when it started re-running on those stations.

The Monkees? The Munsters?..also a show like Carol Burnett and actually Doctor Who really belong in the 1970's. When people think of Doctor Who, they 1st think of the Tom Baker period, hence Doctor Who was most "Decade Defining" in the 1970's, not 1960's. Also I would have included The Monkees over Batman. If you include Batman, you may as well include stuff like Dragnet and Get Smart frankly.

Everybody's tastes are different, and the 1960s was one hell of a decade for television. I don't agree with several of the shows included, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't agree with mine. (Twilight Zone would be second, Star Trek would be first.)

Haven't seen the list yet but Star Trek should be #1. All the predictions made in Star Trek (solely by sticking to the Science part of Sci-Fi) defined at least two decades of technology in which Star Wars fan is holding a form of predicted Star Trek tech :) Per example : the first interracial kiss on TV. Hardly mentioned yet groundbreakingly trancending the brainwashed.

How can they not have "Get Smart"? It was witty, slapstick, was political and social satire, and is all-time favourite. Don Adams was classic in it, and 99 brought some glamour.

It was terrible. Don Adams was never funny, INHO, although the Chief and 99 were charming. They were spoofing the Espionage shows of the time: Mission: Impoosible, the Man From UNCLE, etc...those were good shows, I thought.....

I am so glad to see that The Andy Griffith Show made the list. Personally one of my favorite shows of all time and I am nowhere close to being born when it was originally released. I recently looked on the Rolling Stone Magazines list of 100 best T.V shows and noticed it was not on there.

I'd suggest _Star Trek_ as number 1 simply because it's had more spin-offs, movies, comics, RPGs, computer games, and conventions than everything else on the list put together. And as has been mentioned, _The Monkees_ should at least have been an honorable mention. The 50th Anniversary Tour is underway as we type.

I thought the list was excellent. Thanks for giving I dream of Jeannie a honourable mention. Though people thought the series should be canceled after the 5th season, the season Tony and Jeannie married, I don’t think the series lost the comedy. It could have lasted longer. Get Smart was also a fine series, but I thought it dipped in the 3rd season - it got a bit repetitive.

The Flinstones was a cartoon version of Jackie Gleason's The Honeymooners. The Beverly Hillbillies was one of the first shows to launch successful spin-offs with Green Acres and Petticoat Junction. The Carol Burnett Show probably should have made the top ten as Burnett helped pave the way for female leads in the decades to follow. Finally, the cartoon Johnny Quest should have earned an honorable mention, as it also paved the way for more serious cartoons to follow.

Good points, all. I thought Green Acres and Petticoat Junction were better than The BHs...they had their moments, but they could really drag you dwon, too. Nacy Kulp was funny as the banker's secretary

As many viewers noted, Get Smart should have made the list. It was certainly a better show than Batman! It's interesting they included Star Trek, but as another viewer noted, Trek achieved most of it's fame in 1970's reruns. And what about The Outer Limits? That show was so shocking for it's era, that local television stations regularly censored its content to protect viewers from being too scared by its assortment of "monsters!" Although the original show only lasted two seasons, the 1990's version produced seven seasons.

@@williamanthony9090 Batman was way better than Get Smart. Don Adams was one of the worst actors ever in a tv series. Batman was hilarious, one of the great comedy/farce shows of all time, and a huge step forward in visuals on a tv show

@@joemarshall4226 - That's your opinion, and you're certainly entitled to it, but that doesn't necessarily make it so. Adam West was an awful actor. Anything he was ever in was dragged down by his lackluster performances.... EXCEPT Batman, where his terrible acting skills didn't matter. As for Batman the show... It certainly wasn't very well received by Batman comic book readers, who weren't wild about the "worlds greatest detective," a super hero almost as popular as Superman, being reduced to a zany, pathetic, parody, on ABC. It's also worth noting Get Smart had a longer run than Batman, although Batman was unique in that it ran two episodes a week its first two seasons.

@@williamanthony9090 Batman was camp humor, spoofing everythig that the comic book took seriously: over macho-crime fighters, government control lunatics, super-rich elite weirdos....it was just wonderful, and one of the best, and most original shows in tv history....like the Simpsons, it appealed to both kids and intellectuals. Everyone in Hollywood wanted to guest star on it, just like they do now on the Simpsons. Adam West was brilliant, with his understated performance, and his bizzarre masculinity.....Get Smart spoofed....what? Other secret agent shows, but it was typical borscht-belt 60s tv comedy, and had really nothing to offer. Don Adams was a decent stand-up comedian, but he was lost as an acting comic, despite the presence of The Chief and Barbara Feldon, who gave some life to one bad script after another.

The one show missing, The Fugitive. The last episode was the highest rated episode at the time. It beat the ratings when The Beatles made their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

I watched every single one of those shows except Dr. Who, which wasn't on any of the channels we received. They left out Gun Smoke and the #1 show ever....The Munsters. Good list, brought back many fond memories.....Barbara Eden, Mary Tyler Moore and Elizabeth Montgomery were really hot!

I would've added "Peyton Place"- America's FIRST primetime soap , and "Dark Shadows"- a daytime soap that went to become a cult classic, inspiring several feature films, fan conventions, endless merchandising and even a brief primetime remake in 1991 on NBC!!

well star trek went on to do something no other show has done because they made a 12 movies and then 6 different tv shows and had one of the few actors to keep working through the 60s

A thing or two about Doctor Who. If you ask me, I'd put it in the 70's defining shows list. With Jon Pertwee and the U.N.I.T years which was followed by the iconic duo of Tom Baker and Elisabeth Sladen as the 4th Doctor and Sarah-Jane Smith. While it was popular in the Patrick Troughton years after Dalekmania of the early Hartnell years, the show was facing cancellation after 3 seasons. Cult following? Maybe in the classic era. Now the following is brimming with teenage girls who only watch because David Tennant and Matt Smith are hot, Rose Tyler exists, Donna Noble is sassy and they think it's cool to be a nerd girl. They say the classic era is too old to watch? Well get over it, the Doctor is a silly old man who plays the recorder, not a romantic heartthrob with ridiculous hair.

While I agree that they are annoying, I know plenty of young, female Doctor Who fans who DO watch it for the content. They see hot actors as a nice plus. Hopefully this transition in Peter Capaldi's Doctor will rid us of some of the fake fans.

Yeah, Star Trek was the sleeper. We didn't know how just damn good it was until it was rediscovered and appreciated in syndication. I mean, THAT CAST, THOSE STORIES! It's still ahead of our time. So, too: Speed Racer, the Prisoner, Outer Limits, The Invaders, Jonny Quest, Eighth Man, Gigantor, My Favorite Martian, The Fugitive, Gunsmoke, Man From U.N.CL.E., Wild Wild West, Danger Man, The Avengers, The Time Tunnel, Space Ghost (the original), Alfred Hitchcock, Columbo, Mannix, Hawaii Five-0, The Saint, Dark Shadows, Get Smart, The Monkees, I Spy, Flipper, Mr. Ed, It Takes a Thief, Top Cat, Password, Underdog, Chiller.

Probable mentions in the upcoming lists: '70s- Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels '80s- Diff'rent Strokes, Star Trek Next Gen, Blackadder '90s- Twin Peaks, X-Files, Friends, Seinfeld (I'd say Buffy is more early-2000s) '00s- Sopranos, The Wire, Lost '10s (so far)- Thrones, BrBa, Walking Dead (even though it's an awful show)

I grew up in the 1980s in the Detroit area, which I consider to be the greatest time and place to be for media. Radio and television in that area was great back then. WXON and WKBD played 1950s and 60s shows all through their daytime schedule, so you could watch all of these back to back on days when you cut class. Which I did often, hating my school as much as I did.

The Fugitive should have been on this list, probably #2 (I agree with the #1 choice) since it did have the biggest audience share of all time for it's two last episodes when Dr Kimble catches Johnson the one-arm man, with the help of Lt Gerard who had been his nemesis for four years. In my opinion The Fugitive set the tone for social justice topics of all 60's TV shows and put forth the quintessential American male role model: a man wrongly oppressed by society's mistake, who's mission is to right not only the wrong done to him and his wife, but who risks his own life and that mission to help his fellow man in time of need. Dr Richard Kimble was the all-time "Greatest American Hero".

Technically it should be on the list for the 1960's, 1970's 1980's 2000's and 2010's. The only list it can't be on is the 1990's.

Breaking Bad didn't define the 2000s..It didn't even have that many viewers in 2008 and 2009..Sopranos should be no.1 as it had a huge impact on future drama shows and Vince Gilligan himself

Early prediction for the 1970s list: "All in the Family" for #1. Other names which should be on the list are "Happy Days", "M*A*S*H", "Saturday Night Live", "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "60 Minutes", "Good Times", "Charlie's Angels".

All were popular and iconic, I admit. Sanford and Son, with the brilliant Red Fox was great....too bad John Amos left Good Times...he was the best thing on it...the rest of the cast was a little amateurish. What was that show with James Garner...The Rockford Files......that was a good one....lots of cop shows in the 70s...and stud-shows.....Carol Burnett reached her peak in the 70s. Also those MTM spin-offs: Rhoda and the other one....Kung Fu was better than any of them, though.

The Spy genre was huge in the 1960s, so much so that most sit-coms would have at least one spy related episode. (The Flinstones, Gilligan's Island, The Patty Duke Show, The Adams Family, just to name a few). So there really should have been room made for Get Smart in the top ten list. Other shows in the genre were Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Avengers and Mission Impossible.

10. I loved this series as a kid and I never realized how old it was until like four years ago. Either way it's truly excellent 9. I've heard about this show but I've never seen it 8. Same as 9 7. I still watch the reruns today. It's campy but it's good 6. I've only seen the episodes with guest stars DeForest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy 5. I LOVE this show. 4. Such a classic. I'm surprised it's not number one 3. Not really a fan. Though I've seen a few episodes from the tenth doctor. 2. Watched only a few episodes before 1. Not really a fan

If anyone missed, it (or interested), that was a very young Captain Kirk who thought he saw the man/gremlin on the airplane wing. The name of that particular Twilight Zone story is called Nightmare at 20,000 feet" I always thought Mr Shatner was a nice looking young man!

thanks to a good toupee......He is an amazing actor, IMHO.....the things they gave him to do on Star Trek were impossibly difficult, wrestling with invisible aliens, being taken over by invisible forces, fight scenes, love scenes, commanding scenes. He carved a truly believable character who just drew you along in those plots.....maybe the best tv actor ever...and he was great in the other shows and episodes he starred in as well.....

Where is "The Prisoner"? Surely that should have a place on this list. It captures the 60s like no other show and was both popular at the time and now a cult show. But then again, it wasn't from the USA so there's no way they would have included it. The only reason you included Dr Who was because it's currently popular in the US and you want to seem like you actually care about other cultures. Dr Who in no way defined the 60s, it was a great show but was extremely atypical for the time, not very popular (down to 4/5 million viewers by 1969) and did achieve it's true height and influence until the 1970s/1980s. Dr Who is a lazy inclusion because rather than placing it in the decade it most defined (either 70s or 00s), you included it just so you didn't look like you were only including US shows.

Including Dr Who to please certain people is stupid. They should place on the list things that are actually decade defining, not things to please a small minority of people. It's about integrity, not bowing to the pressure of a few hardcore whovians (of which I am one). I understand WatchMojo will take no notice of this comment but when they realise that their lists should include what they genuinely think should be on them, rather than just a list of populist and usually American options, they will gain a lot more respect from a lot of people.

Yes, Dr Who is a superior show to The Prisoner, but Dr Who was at it's height of popularity and quality from 1975 - 1979. That is the era most referenced in popular culture (Tom Baker, K9 etc.) Dr Who defined the 1970s - not the 1960s, but The Prisoner is one of many shows that defined the 1960s and in my view, it should have been included on this list.

The second episode of Doctor Who was viewed by 10 millions peoples... It was very popular even in the 60's. In 1965, there was a big Dalekmania and every children wanted a Dalek for Christmas.

My great-grandfather died when I was 3, so don't remember him hardly at all. But I'm told he always liked watching the Flintstones with me as a tyke, so Fred and the gang are a favorite of mine for that reason alone.
