Haha I saw your lineup of the 9 heroes and literally thought to myself “there’s gotta be a villain in there somewhere and if I had to pick one it would have to be Doom.” I would’ve gone with a Deadpool over Black Widow but otherwise great choices.
@@alandoane9168 Counterpoint - put the Vintage Black Widow belt and Widow Stings on the Ultimate Rider Black Widow (after wiping the belt paint off of her), and use the long-haired head she comes with. (The long-haired head in the Ultimate Rider Widow set was 100% made as an upgrade for the Vintage Widow, but this is better.) i2.wp.com/thefwoosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Hasbro-Marvel-Legends-Target-Deadly-Origins-Black-Widow-Review-compare.jpg
I agree and I’m on the fence of starting avengers. I was just going to do Spiderman, xmen and hulk and it always snowballs from there. Love the wwf endings.
David displays model behaviour lol, I only collect movie figures. I first said only MCU Heroes, then I was like only heroes and villains, then supporting characters. Then after seeing the Xmen Movie and and Venom figures it’s just all movie figures! Even the Spider Man 3 venom which is a great figure! (Don’t judge me!! Lol)
Bro, this it's exactly my list of essentials! You just made me realize this when you where showing the figures haha. Definitely not an easy task for newcomers but it will be well worthed for those who may find this list. Really enjoying your content. Greetings from México!
Mexico? That’s awesome, we’re getting some proper international flair. I went to Mexico a few times last year when I worked on a cruise ship. I love the country, people and pro wrestling heritage.
It is so funny that you showed the 80 year figures as the essentials and Thor and Iron Man were easy to find because they were at Best Buy, a place not known for figures so I scooped them both but Holy Hell I had issues finding Cap, so much so I bought the Venomised version because it was the same body mold. I got the Hulk in the Two pack and the Grey Hulk with the pipe fairly cheap. The retro Spidey sky-rocketed but I was lucky to be able to find it in hopefully a non shady website. I just ordered the retro widow but she is like my seventh black widow so that one is the one that will be posed on the bike. This video cracks me up because at current market values you are showing about 500-800$ worth of figures.. The. X-men 3 pack is going for 160.00 on some sites. I got the Wolverine by himself but. Cannot find the Jean Grey for less than 70 and Cyclopes for 64. Insanity. If you can help direct me to a seller who is not trying to do a smash and grab on my wallet I would love the help.
Yeah. I totally could have taken Cyclops / Jean and Widow out and replaced with Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Punisher but I wanted to have some female representation.
I'm a bit late, but I just got that Dr. Doom, and it has become my favorite figure. The new retro one is better but... I'm in the process of swapping figures.
Man I’m loving your channel bro. I’m gonna hate once you hit 1k because then I’m gonna have to sit thru ads lol. But keep them vids comin bro. By the way bro, your first knowledge of Wolverine: yellow suit or brown suit?
Don't my Symbiote i'll make sure the videos are extra entertaining so it'll be worth click through those adverts after the first 5 seconds! Also one of my earliest comic book memories is seeing a friends poster of Wolverine and thinking "Why is he wearing brown? Why not the cartoon colours? What's the story behind that? I must know!" So yeah, I'm partial to brown.
David displays model behaviour lol yoooo bro, the brown suit was first indoctrination to Wolvy so that will always be my heart. God bless Jim Lee the GOAT. Issue #1🙏🏽
Dang, imagine if he had to boil down your ML collection to only 10 figures. I used to call the big six: SWITCH (Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Hulk). Of course there are other greats
Instead of Jean, Cyclops, and doom, I'd say Thanos (due to movie popularity), daredevil, (to represent street level heroes), and black panther (because he represents a lot about marvel such as old/new comics, movies, and a relative character, for me at least).
My collection consists of spider man from the ultimate green goblin wave, captain america from the vintage collection wave, iron man from the black panther movie wave, the marvel select hulk and thor I've chosen because of their size than, the wolverine from the recent 3 pack with cyclops and jean grey, vintage collection wave 2 black panther, the recent super skrull wave thing and human torch because I missed out on the Walgreens exclusives. Deadpool that came with the dog and squirrel pool also the scooter. The star lord from first guardians movie wave. Ps I also have characters like colossus, cyclops, storm, mr. Fantastic, the invisible woman, and endgame war machine. Plus some of the more lesser known heroes like shang chi and domino. Trying to build my villains so far I have the marvel select thanos because again the size. The demo goblin wave vulture and the new spider man wave electro. Just need to get the punisher and black widow from the vintage collection wave. Iceman from the x-men vintage collection, the spidey collection green goblin, the huge monster venom figure. Dr octopus, elektra, and dagger from the sp//dr wave. Daredevil and the defenders, Movie ant man, wasp, and captain marvel because I'm trying to go for a modern/classic look like the show Avengers earth's mightiest heroes which needs another season on Disney plus. Plus there's many many more characters I need
You've got some great figures in that collection. I love how varied and eclectic it is. Sometimes mixing different waves like comic, MCU and Select can really make for a dynamic display.
I bought the quantom realm suit cap and I regret spending actual money for this figure but it was the only cap in the only toy store in town. I bought this figure when endgame came out and since then, no other cap has showed up...
Me saying i'll just go for the Avengers... Me finding Black Cat, Black Storm, Cowboy Wolverine, the Dazzler, Jean Grey AoA, Retro JJ Jameson and 2 pack Xavier Magneto at retail... My wallet cried help lol...
Love this video, such an amazing idea. The only thing i would change is i would swap Jean for storm and i would swap cyclops for either human torch or the thing for some fantastic four representation
I just started collecting Marvel Legends in March. It started with Dr. Doom, then the BOF wave he was in . I set a limit of only buying the best representations from the comics and or TV shows I watched as a kid.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour Originally I was just a Black Series Sith and Trooper collector, Then came Marvel Legends, Now GI Joe. Finding all 4 Ghostbusters at Walmart the other day didn't help me stay in my "limit". I couldn't refuse Bill Murrays' smirk.
@@rynohobbies dude those Ghostbusters are so tempting. What's currently driving me to break from my Legends only rule is the NECA 90's Movie Turtles. They look so good!
Silver surfer would 100% have been included if I owned him. He's such a grail now! Also I probably should have switched out Jean or Widow for Punisher but hey, maybe in another list! :)
Very nice list, you definitely nailed the proper big bad in either Dr.Doom or Thanos. If swaps had to be made I'd switch out Black Widow for Storm and Cyclops for Professor X or Mr. Fantastic.
Silver Samurai is quietly one of my favourite figures. So beautiful! Also armoured Daredevil I feel is the underrated highlight of that retro wave. So good!
This are some of best figures from the legends line they need to show this much luv in all figures they make, I would put some of this in top 20 best legends ever made sorry you didn't get thanos exclusives suck so hard to get now just tried to preorder new gi Joe's and were gone in a second 😩
You're right, some of these are absolute stand out examples of what can be done! I'm definitely lamenting missing Thanos. The new one looks like it might be really good but i'll still keep searching for that exclusive guy!
Man a top 10 is tough and ya were adding even more figures at the end like Stan Lee and thanos but whare was deadpool the merc with a mouth with a top 15 I woulda added Stan Lee, thanos, ghost rider, and my added on picks Dr. strange, and deadpool plus ya got a 16 in that wolverien from the hulk pack so a great start to any collection then for a 17 captian marvel a good ice breaker from the start to the world of marvel legends by comics go see what I did their space and world lol. I recently started collecting myselph and I have to say that your list is spot on the hulk and doom I do have cause they were so awesome and that Spider-Man i just recently got and boy he's awesome. I try to not buy double the charaters or charaters I don't need if I rlly don't need to but it is addicting I have to say specially with the comics, movies, and games playing huge roles into the picture I just try to get charaters I like but it's hard with how awesome each charater is so this starting list is a great one for any beginner but to dive deeper into the rabbit hole that's the hard part so tempting yet so cool I both love and hate marvel legends but in the end their cool.
Hey RJ, thanks for writing such a thorough reply. You're right about how addictive this hobby can be and yep it's almost impossible to pick just 10 figures. I think the biggest ones missing were Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, Punisher and Deapool. A top 15 would be a lot more forgiving!
Such a great list. My list would be slightly different. I would have some FF love in there as well but i dont know who i would take out of your list. Thats why i love lists like these everyones is different:-)
I think the spider man is useless if he doesn’t have toe articulation I haven’t bought a spider man figure in years for that reason. Marvel legends needs to put toe articulation in all of them
That's interesting, I've never really thought about toe articulation or considered it essential to me personally. That's what's fun about discussing characters with other folks is that you find out what different people value in their figures.
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour so far I've picked up Madripoor Wolverine, AoA Wolverine and Dark Beast, Silver Samurai, White Rabbit, Retro tyle Iron Man, Retro Cyclops, Armored Daredevil and Green Goblin from the retro wave!! Man these figures are addictive! Looking to get some deluxe figures next, mainly Venom and Toxin as I'm a sucker for Symbiotes🤘😂
Nearly forgot my 2 favorites on display! The WWII Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter 2 pack! I think it's a highly underrated set from a highly underrated movie! The amount of detail on Cap's awesome and unique uniform, all the accessories, and great head sculpts make them 2 of my favorites!
I broadly agree. But I'd go: - 80th Anniversary Cap - Return Of Marvel Legends Thor - 80th Anniversary Hulk - First 10 Years Iron Man Mark 7 - TRU Fan's Choice 2-pack Black Widow (black costume version) - Retro Wave Spider-Man - Apocalypse Wave Wolverine - Super Skrull wave Doctor Doom - Family Matters 3-pack Magneto - Sand Man wave Green Goblin ROML Thor is just bigger and more badass. More gritty and detailed. First 10 Years Iron Man Mk7 is the best Iron Man figure, and the comicbook figures are so similar to the movie figures that it doesn't matter that this is technically a movie figure. The 616 Mk28, 29, 30, 34, 37, 41, 55, 56, 59, 64, 69, and 70 all basically just look like MCU armor. TRU 2-Pack Black Widow has her problems, but in terms of a classic Black Widow figure, they have never even come CLOSE to matching, let alone topping her. (though the short haired head is definitely the better of her two heads, which isn't as classic) Even my near-perfect kitbash of 3 modern Black Widows STILL doesn't look as good. I love the accessories for Love Triangle Wolverine, but on a base level the Apocalypse Wolverine's colors just look better. AND he doesn't come with extra characters who I would say aren't Top 10 Essential. And then pretty much Marvel's three most iconic villains, who also happen to represent the 3 worlds of the heroes. Doom is the greatest villain in....anything. Ever. And he's effectively Marvel's most powerful and successful villain on a general basis, and sort of paradoxically almost a great hero. Fully capable of trashing the combined Avengers and Fantastic Four completely on his own. He's proven himself o be exactly as good as he thinks he is in several ways, and the dude has become a god like....FOUR times? I mean....he owns TWO complete Infinity Gauntlets. Suck it, Thanos. Magneto is of course the X-Men's most iconic villain, the way Wolverine is the most iconic of the X-Men. It feels weird putting Magneto without Xavier, Cyclops, Jean, Gambit, Beast, Rogue, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Psylocke, Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, Ice Man, and Archangel. AND Mystique, Blob, Juggernaut, Toad, Avalanche, Pyro, Sabretooth.... Proper X-Men representation is a whole-ass collection. Green Goblin is the greatest Spider-Man villain, SLIGHTLY ahead of Doc Ock, and he's of course also a threat to the Avengers as Norman Osborn/Iron Patriot during the Dark Reign, leading HAMMER, the Dark Avengers, and the Thunderbolts. It also feels weird not having the Fantastic Four, but that's FOUR characters... And this group is also direly missing: - Doctor Strange - Silver Surfer - Ghost Rider - Ant-Man - Wasp - Falcon - Vision - Hawkeye - Black Panther - Quicksilver - Scarlet Witch - Doc Ock - Venom - Lizard - Scorpion - Mysterio - Electro - Shocker - Vulture - Sand Man - Kraven - Sand Man - Hydro Man - Hobgoblin - Prowler - Chemeleon - Beetle - Jackal - Kingpin - Daredevil - Loki - Ultron - Kang The Conqueror - Blade - Punisher - etc etc etc etc.... ....10 is SUCH a tiny number..... I'm tempted to trade Magneto out for someone else, but I just don't know who's THAT iconic, and a villain, with a good figure. Maybe ToyBiz Loki (with the long horns). I'm tempted to say the ToyBiz Sentinel BAF or Sauron, just because they're incredible, but they don't make sense otherwise.
You know what's funny is that when I was posting this video I genuinely thought to myself "Hmmm I wonder what Phillip's going to make of this" :) You didn't disappoint me my friend. Those are some excellent points and suggestions. You're right that 10 is an incredibly limited number to represent the entire universe so there are indeed some huge omissions. I'll soon be doing a new video which will be 'The Ultimate comic display' which will be about 40 characters strong and try to incorporate all of the essential heavy hitters!
I'd personally ditch Black Widow, and as much as I love the X-Men, Cyke and Jean aren't essential, either. You already mentioned the next two contenders I'd add, with Punisher and Ghost Rider. For the tenth, it's really hard, I'd throw in the whole FF if I could. It's gotta be Namor, for me, though, to represent the original Marvel era.
Absolutely agree on Ghosty and Punisher. I think I just wanted another women in the collection but definitely the two rider figures would be fantastic additions to a collection.
I'm glad we have common idea lol But i replace capt america with infinite wars from 3 pack. Spider-Man retro is so hard to find here, in my country, but I'm grateful enough have black spidey from kraven 2 pack lol
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour i believe you'll have many internasional subs, if u keep hosting ur vlog with cheer up style like that. Keep up mate, sorry my poor english tho 😅😅😅
I only recently got the 3 pack love triangle and I love it I always wanted a Wolvie and jean and cyclops in this set is great too I like that hulk but not the origins wolvie
That 80th Hulk is gorgeous. The Wolvie is more like an accessory for him! Love Triangle is pretty much a perfect set, especially with the bone claws for Wolvie!
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour Black Widow is just regular female body sculpture with TONS of accessories However, Storm fig have Variant already While, Rogue fig is Exclusive thats just going to go up in value in the future 😁
The collection never finished by itself aha, i started by only collectiing the MCU figure, than they released the xmen, spideman..now i have more than 150 figure lol
Here is my current figure collection Doctor doom Loki Velocity spiderman Spider gwen Spider woman Miles Morales Toybiz wolverine Iron patriot Falcon Spider-ham And a broken iron man
Hey no judgement here. We all like what we like and I love that. The Venom wave 2 will bring me my first movie figure (Though not MCU exactly) with Sony Venom. (Who looks like a beast!)
Fantastic 4 should always be counted as 1 set. You can't have 1 character without the other 3 1. Wolverine represents mutants 2. Fantastic 4 - first family 3.Captain America 4. Ironman 5. Hulk 6. Spiderman - street heroes 7. Thor - Gods and celestial heroes 8. Black widow - women heroes 9. Doctor strange - represents mystic characters 10. Thanos or Doom
Those are actually very good suggestions. I just wanted to include at least a couple of female characters to mix things up. Marvel needs more female A-Listers.
This guy on reddit is selling his retro Spider-Man collection and I’m waiting for him to respond so hopefully I just got 14 new marvel legends for my collection
Not in order Captain America 80th Iron Man 80th Thor 80th Hulk 80th with 1st app Wolverine Spider-Man retro wave Wolverine Jim Lee Cyclops Jim Lee Storm Jim Lee F4 Wallgreens set Daredevil/Dr Doom/Magneto/Stan Lee
That iron man is my second favorite marvel legends my favorite being carnage spider man mainly because he my favorite spider man and because my dad got me it and it the first action figure in my collection
