Hello everyone! This is the first time I do some Superbooth content. As I mention in the video I mostly went there for fun. Let me know if you like these kind of news/update videos, or if you’d rather see me stick to my regular thorough explanations. Cheers! PS: Only the audio in the clips on the Quasar, Dual Harmonic Oscillator, Sophia, and Pizza are related to the module. These clips are supplied by the manufactures and used with permission :)

Hi, and yes, I like these kind of news especialy about stuff that I‘ve not even seen on Sooperbooth. As you said, it‘s impossible to see them all and speek with every manufacturer. Therefore thank you for this video, well done 👍

Glad to hear it! This was fun to make, and happy to share it. Cheers :)

Otherwise good video, but the camera's fixed focus / short depth of field is just awful. Those zooms into or out of focus are ok for an occasional effect, but way too much for a whole video.

Hi there! Didn't really plan this video. Just thought I'd take some shots of the modules I liked, but could have definitely use more/different material. Will think about how I'll do this in the future :)

Thank you, very well done overview. I'm glad our community has someone like you to go to Superbooth for those of us who love modular and techno.

It was great to get your overview and insights across a number of modules and modular developments. You always present charismatic, engaging, entertaining, and informative videos, so it’s great to have some variety presenting different aspects of your persona and intelligence. Beyond that though I also love the detailed, intricate and uniquely patch-theory inspired tutorials. So in answer… both! Just keep being you and trust that we’ll be along for the ride. I just want to see more people accessing your excellent content, because it’s so useful.

Hey, thanks for sharing! Honest friendly comments like these really make the effort worth it! Happy to hear you like this video. Might do similar thoughts about things in the future, as more people seem to agree. But will for sure keep the focus on detailed patch and synthesis ideas videos. All the best!

Thanks for this. Quasar looked interesting, the sound sample sounded very convincing. Pizza seems like a generative musician’s dream.

Thought so indeed! I'm, really cramped in time these days, but might see if i can have a closer look at Quasar some day :)

great overview. I agree with your thoughts on Ghost it looks like they were more concerned with symmetry and how good the module looked than they were with how it will be used once patched. (it's also interesting to see that it wasn't patched when you took your video , I guess some tendril patch cables will be a must have to use this module symmetry and useability is possible if the designer just gives it some thought. a lot of the mutable modules for example where the panel layout is symmetrical but the patch points are all at the bottom of the panel (marbles is a great example of that, even with a cable in every patch point you can still easily get your fingers into all of the pots and buttons) or even the XAOC Sophia you show in the video, thats a lovely panel layout where they clearly gave the playability a lot of thought
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
True, there is different thoughts that both have pros and cons. I imagine working with Sophia is a joy when it comes to space, but in a live performance case it probably takes to much space. Ghost is the other way around, might feel cramped in the studio, but when traveling or performing you can get a huge amount of power out of a compact module :)

It would be cool to see the Verbos envelope in your hands. Also can't wait to try Ghost, Quasar and the rest...
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
Yes it would! Verbos is located in Berlin as well, and very friendly people. Might try and go over for a coffee some time. In general hope all the new modules will hit stores as planned, and find some good new owners :)

Agree about the ghost module. It has a bunch of things you want in a module but, it looks like it will be hard to use once you get it all patched up.
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
Will be interesting to see how it's best used. It's great to have the options though. This way you can pick any of the features and get the most out of it, or maybe set it up as a full end of chain effects, with automated motion. Might not be a problem :)

Personally I am feeling kinda “done” with modules that have very few CV inputs, like the quasar. While I’ve enjoyed some of them, I rarely get much longevity or surprise out of them. So many DSP modules are in that category! I find them easily replaced with a VST. :/
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
Fair enough! The fact they are freely assignable is crucial of course, so you can modulate different stuff with complex voltages every time. Part is also perhaps the ease of use with modular gear and or performances, but I get the feeling :)

If only I could see the modules in focus *while* the voice moves forward. Sooooo much pausing to see them.

Quasar is so cool, especially in generative stuff or percussion. definetely to get one at some stage!

Yes! Great for detailed shaping of sound, so much control there. The creator did a great video on it, just in case you haven't seen it :)

In regards to Sofia you said it was "a big module for a single oscillator" and im 99% sure its actually 3 oscillators. 1 main oscillator and the 2 on the side are modulation oscillators. since you can change the relative pitch of the 2 side elements i'd imagine they are oscillators.
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
Hi there! I don't know to be fair. Indeed you can change the relative pitch, but there not usable as independent oscillators. Also I'm not sure if there is a technical definition in the way. They consistently call the sides 'ripple elements'. But in all fairness how to call them doesn't make a big difference to me :)

Great overview thanks...what did you think of the erica synths lxr-02 eurorack version?
@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
Hey Wayne! Drum machines are not really my thing. I keep coming back to want to use samples when I make drums. But if you like the sound of the lxr line I think the cv modulation adds a lot of value to it! Also you can use some engines as synth/basslines, so it's getting more to a complete setup. It's a powerful device :)

@MonotrailTechTalk
@MonotrailTechTalk 2 года назад
Lovely sounds indeed! And like the asq-1, seems like a very powerfull device. At the end really decided to make this a personal pick, because there's a lot of cool stuff out there! For me though I keep coming back to writing and sequencing with an external controller or DAW. That works better for my workflow then sequencing from the modular :)

9:42 “figure out the name..all by yourself” he says after finally focusing and avoiding the Instruo name altogether (I am doing well even being able to pronounce Instruo). Hey, whatever the name of the DIY klein/mutable line is, I can hardly wait until I hear from you DIY advocates… AFTER you get arthritis ; ) 😦😖😫

@@MonotrailTechTalk its all good! I get that you were going for that depth of field but it was just a bit overdone. Just like with audio sometimes effects need to be subtle. Looking forward to your future videos and keep up the good work!
