I would buy those Little Nicky figures. Some Mcfarlane toys from back in the day really did age well. Just look at the new Overtkill from compared to Overtkill III from 2001
Trendmasters actually did some decent stuff back in the 90's. Look up their Kaiju stuff. They had a really good Godzilla line and even a Heisei era Gamera line that goes for insane money if you can find them. They had a fairly good and well liked Independence Day line. They also had a Mars Attacks line. And had a really hard to find Voltron line. They produced some really great figures and toys with lots of action features. But they had lousy license selection.
If you’re looking for QT figures, Diamond Select Toys made Minimates of Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill. I believe Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill even received Select Figures.
Just want to point out there already were toy lines of Reserviir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Bastards. Like you said earlier Todd Mcfarlane would do figures of just about any license. I recall buying the reservoir dogs figs back when they had released the Sun City ones as well. So that’s like 2005 or something like that
About two weeks ago, I watched a video called movies you probably didnt know had action figures, which included alot of movies I'd never even heard of.
This was an AWESOME video, but how do you not remember Trendmasters?! In the 90’s, they made toys for Independence Day, Godzilla, Mars Attacks, Extreme Ghostbusters, and more. I dare say I had more of their toys than I did Kenner or Mattel in the 90’s!
Wow. Wild Wild West was one of my favorite movies as a kid! Had all the BK toys! And the sunglasses! I had no clue they sold toys in store for it. I would have wanted them had I known. I put that on bad marketing
I remember seeing a lot of those figures just sitting at Kay Bee Toys. But I did have one of The Last Action Hero figures, it was a gift from my grandmother, I wish I still had it.
Is... Is Fat Thor doing the Gangnam Style dance in the bar back there?? 😂 And you've gotta look at the Battlefield Earth toys at a dutch angle, otherwise they're going to look wrong!
I never knew about the Django Unchained toys. I definitely would have gotten some. Django Unchained is by far my favorite slave movie. I got the bluray!
I kind of wanted that Jim West action figure back in the day I remember going to Toys R Us hoping they had it but all they had was Kevin Kline's Artemis Gordon action figures
Just paused your video at 1:13. So, of the top of my head, I'll guess the Robin Hood: Prince of Theives toyline? With so many reused parts from other toy lines like having Frier Tuck's body being a Gamariain guards body, and, other lines like Robocop and Super Powers. I also remember seeing the commercials, and seeing that cool castle... which wasn't even a playset at all.
Oh Man, I would love some NECA Starship Troopers figures! I was one of the few who actually had those Demolition Man figures. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi, and Snipes was so bad ass in that flick. I also remember having some of the Super Mario Action Figures from the movie. I'm actually kinda surprised they didn't make the cut, considering just how bad that movie was. Great list and a fun idea for a vid!
I remember in the 90's so many movies that you think wouldn't end up getting toys, they did. Glad you mentioned Last Action Hero because the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title for this video.
I am surprised Speed Racer didn't make the list. That isn't to say that isn't a brand undeserving of a Toy Line, but the movie flopped, the toy line flopped. Hell, I think at one point TRU was giving them away for free with the purchase of "x" amount of dollars. I still see some of them at bargain outlets.
Yup, those be Ka Ka toy-- lines! Trendmaster attempted a toy line for the Lost In Space movie, with Gary Oldman. It was horrible, but not very memorable. They did a classic Jupiter 2 the 60's TV show. The Saucer was well do e shape wise. It had the Robot, Will and Dr Smith figures. Also a really bad squatty looking Shuttle. They really cut corners on the interior. I would give 2.5 out of 5.
I was sure you were going to bring up the toyline from the first Avatar movie. Horrible likenesses, and weird articulation. The only saving grace was I could use the mech suit for my GI Joes.
Great video! Even though I love the movies and toys, I would also put The Shadow and Dick Tracy on that list. Those movies bombed huge and the toys littered Kay Bee for a long time. Audiences in the '90s just weren't into the pulp hero revival...
I think it's the Indians Jones line from the Crystal Skill movie, saw those fingers everywhere all the time and I never cared and never saw anyone looking at them
Dude I remember being a kid and going into mediaplay with my mom, picking out a little Nicky and being afraid they wouldn’t let me buy it haha damn haven’t thought about that memory or those toys in ages
Cone Heads has to be the worst! My brother and I were at a comic shop in the White Marsh Mall, in Maryland. I bought a Medieval Witchblade figure. He bought a Beldar. I rightfully chastised him the entire week. Beldar was in his black uniform. The stand looked like the insignia on his uniform and actually said, "Beldar," on it. Like the pointed head wouldn't give his identity away.
the flintstones toyline was cool because the reason they looked so weird was because they were trying to make the movie characters in the style of the cartoon. It was fun, i thought. The kids who wanted the more accurate toys of the movie itself were probably more drawn to the bendable figures. they were fare more accurate in terms of proportions.
Oh man, I actually had that trench coat Last Action Hero figure. Also definitely enjoyed Little Nicky as well! Went to see it twice with family, and a second time with a friend at school. I want to look into that mister beefy figure now 😆 I guessed starship troopers, say what you will but my buddy and I traded that giant warrior bug back and forth. It was so cool. Everything else was a complete surprise to me in regards to this list. I remember seeing articles of Django Unchained figures. Just wow.
Last Action Hero was amazing for many of us that couldn't get a Terminator fig as kids. Waterworld though, was kind of obscure to have toys in my opinion, even as a kid. I had them.
The John Travolta figure appears to have 6 fingers on his right hand, which is why it looks so freakishly large. The left hand looks like 5 fingers. So weird.
I remember as a kid seeing the Judge Dredd figures bogging down shelves in Toys R Us, mostly the micro machines sets. As an adult I love that movie, but as a kid I had zero interest. *Edit after watching the episode* I had the Last Action Hero and Flinstones figures. Funnily enough only one from each though. I had Fred and the Jack Slater that came with that big yellow mech thing
Should have been detailed single characters aimed towards adult collectors. Taco Bell and Pizza Hut missed including Demolition Man figures in kids meals, for after the Franchise Wars, only these two restaurants survived.
The 1999 movie "Virus" also had a toyline. You know, Virus... it's the film that star Jamie Lee Curtis described as "unbelievably bad" and a "piece of shit".
It really didn't matter about the movie being R-rated, I used to get the Robocop stuff and T2 toys as a kid back in the day, nobody cared back then, it was awesome!
Honestly you should have put the batman as the number one movie toy line . Ive seen the over priced figures that no one wants . Even the McFarlane figures have dust on then . Coming up next is the Thor 4 line of cheap looking toys . The good toys have gone up to $35 to $40 for a 6 or 7 inch figure and even the garbage figures are to much . I hope the toy industry can survive this inflation.
Haven't even finished watching the video yet but seeing that Wild Wild West figure in the thumbnail, l gotta say! If they made a giant mechanical spider figure l would've begged my parents for it as a kid! Besides it being a total flop that Will regretted doing l loved the movie as a kid! A hoity toity spiffy top hat wearing evil villain in a huge mechanical spider in the wild west seemed so steampunk to me!
Ummmm if they're gonna do Inglorious Basterd toyline then I hope there's a deluxe two pack with Hans Lands and Bridget Von Hammersmark. With alternative grip hands for Landa.
I had the jack slater and demolition man toys when I was kid I was around 8 or 9 but I was that kid who had his dad buy him those.. big Stallone and for Schwarzenegger fan in my house growing up
I have a feeling that the Austin powers toys will end up on this list. I think they are cooler now, but as a kid about 20 years ago, there was no desire for cryogenicly frozen Austin powers, Dr evil or fat bastard.. Wish I would have gotten a fat bastard at least..
Anyone remember DragonBall Evolution? You wish you didn’t? Sorry! But they actually had a toy line with a build a figure for the Oozaru (Goku’s giant ape form), and it looked nothing like the ape form that was in the movie! Probably because the design the toy was based on leaked online and it fans hated it so much they reshot the movie at the last minute.
