So good to see Ken Warby getting due credit for the most extreme of the speed records. He utterly owns the water speed record, as as told in the video, all other attempts have ended in tragedy. The legendary big man with the biggest goolies ever. Infinite respect.
@@ianjordan112 He did, and a lot of the time during the build it was outside under a tarpaulin. I am good friends with Ken and his son David, who is the boat in the video(not kens boat)
As someone who has done 205MPH in a racing boat it feels like you are doing 8000MPH it’s just crazy how people can achieve such fast things and go that speed
Forget it. This guy does not have a clue. He's even talking about the 47 lightning and 1075's. Those engines haven't been in production for well over a decade.
@Alec Staley i am no expert on explaining jokes but I'll give it a try. It is funny because 8000mph is obviously a mistake. Instead of pointing out the actual mistake, I am taking the inflated mph at face value and pointing out a different mistake as if I didn't know better.
I feel great knowing that I watched this whole 10-minute video to see the fastest boat in the world and come to find out some guy in Australia made it in his garage.
Nice. Do you know Jon Britton's Britten V1000,1100's? Motorcycles built in an Australasian garage, still holding 4 or so speed records for their class.
@@jayknight139 pontoon boats are for stupid old people that were born in the 50s and 60s. No sane person would every buy one over a center console or cabin cruiser.
i see a lot of corrections on this video i got one more in 1987 Eddie Hill from Texas already held 1/4 mile top fuel drag boat world record (set in 1982 stood for 10yrs) set world record in NHRA top fuel dragster so he also held land and water records at same time
I believe there was a 1 off they made with the electric engine? Obviously not the typical marauders we know and love lol. I could be wrong but if it is true it’s a yellow one to match the electric amg gts
Awesome Awesome !!! I would love to see a video giving side by side comparison of outboard offshore power boats and inboard outboard offshore power boats!!
It was a heck of a pass; but, I don't recall that Scotty backed it up though. I caught up with him after the race to take a couple of pictures and I found him off by himself quietly packing his chutes like it was just another day.
I’ve been 82 mph and thought it was going to be the death of me. Unless you’ve been that fast on water you just cannot imagine what it’s like. 174 mph? No thanks
It really depends on what you are in. 82 will not feel very fast in a lot of go-fast boats. But do it in something like a 20 foot Baja and it will feel pretty fast for sure. Do it in an Outerlimits 43SV and it is absolutely nothing.
@@AB-80X It was a 31' Scarab with twin 454 Chevy supercharged V-8's. Each making over 800 hp each. I don't know if it was the boat's top speed, but all I can remember was being mortified. I also remember it was on the Gulf of Mexico and we made a run from Apalachicola FL to Clearwater. It was perfect. The water was like glass in the evening. No wind. And it was calculated by the GPS navigation system, so I imagine it was fairly accurate.
@@valuedhumanoid6574 Hey, not doubting you. The 31 Thunder is a pretty good hull - old tech but known to be a strong runner. That hull should feel very solid at 82 with a pair of warmed up 525SC's, even in 3 footers, not to mention the water you deecribe. There can always be a multitude of reasons as to why the ride could have felt like that. Props, bottom conditions, worn steering parts and obviously the driver. But that boat should be on rails at 82. I have driven a few of them, both the regular variant as well as the light kevlar/carbon layups. They run 110+ if set up well and have the power/drives for it.
so you could have one of these long deep-v speedboats that are pretty much only for going quickly... and you're getting outpaced by a pontoon boat with a barbecue on it?
Not a test. He was attempting to set a speed record at the Shootout on lake of the Ozarks. One of the most horrific blow overs ever. Boat was in the air for about 6 seconds and was 50 foot in the air.
That c5000 is a beauty; they all are. Tbh though, I'd probably take the pontoon so I can actually have room to move and have some sweet bbq get-to-gethers.
Until you had it. Then you'd want a 50 hp outboard. Then a 17 footer 100 hp outboard The a 20 foot 150 Then a 23 foot with 250 hp Then you'd dream about a 30 foot with twin 250s Then a 36 foot with triple 300s Etc...
Apart from the last one all the rest get easily beaten by offshore power boats. Muritomo does 200mph, so there goes that argument. Oh ,also Australian !😎👍
“Can cruise comfortably at 120mph with a full load of passengers” I’ve gone 90 on the water and there’s nothing comfortable about it. I’ve driven cars over 160 and felt much safer.
When you hit 60mph. Anything other than as flat as liquid inside a milk bottle it's gonna get rough really quick. Boat racing is very different than land or air. The engine will shake itself apart with shock the nose can go into and under a wave. A log appears. You can't react fast past 60 on water
So because you have a small boat that does not do 90 well, that means others can't have a bigger nice boat that cruises at 120? I'm sure you'd say something very different if you took out an SV52.
@@LewisTheFly888 my cousin had a bass boat I swear it would run 100, scared the shit out of me just skimming across the water barley touching it. I was in a boating accident so that doesn’t help. We were flying along and the motor quit, the boat behind us was so close that they ran over top of us, the prop walked all the way down the side and broke the left windshield that’s how on top of us they were. Be safe folks, boats ain’t no joke
The only reason the record was broke in 1964 is because, back then, the water was a lot slicker, making less friction. Today, the water around the world has much more friction.
Mr Campbell was an Australian . By the way the only boat that had a horsepower rating was the electric one the rest had brake horsepower learn the difference .
Why is there no footage of the fastest boat in the world? What is shown as the fastest boat in the world is Spirit Of Australia II and is driven by Ken Warby's son Dave. It is not the fastest boat in the world yet but it's getting faster all the time. You can clearly see that it is an enclosed cockpit boat whereas Ken's record setting boat had an open cockpit. If you are going to post a video of the worlds fastest boats you should probably get your facts right.
@AB-80X way to call yourself out my dude....Let me guess, the wife's boyfriend has a boat you get to wash ? Lost count how many times I witnessed a drunk, trying to switch the fuel over underway. Fingers 2" away from the 260 merc, then you see the arm jerk and pink mist....Dad, we gotta call coast guard again, Randy lost another finger.....Bruh...stay in your lane....I was rigging boats when your mother was still swallowing the football teams gogurt under the bleachers in the high-school gymnasium...
@@Hanibul_Lecktor Wrong. And what the f is that rant you wrote? Do you have a drug problem? The fact that you call B.S on the idea that a Pontoon can run triple digits is what is striking. There has been a few at the Lake Rescue shootout so they are out there. I know of one with triple 300X's that goes well into the triple digits. I've been involved with go-fast boats since I was born and I'm now 42. My family raced powerboats here in Europe. I have piloted more models and brands of powerboats than I care to remember, I have owned over 25 boats myself since I was 13 and my last boat I sold four years ago as I'm focusing all my motorsport time on cars these days. The fastest I have piloted a V is 153 mph and over 200 in cats. What's your fastest run? I'm guessing that I have forgotten more about boats, drives, props, setup and hull design than you've ever known. You have no idea who you're talking to. Now I do sometimes help my brother-in-law with his boat, but that's because I'm a nice guy. I would be absolutely ashamed if helping someone washing his boat was beneath me. Take note of that. Kindness gets you far. Don't bother replying. I have nothing more to add, and you clearly have it all figured out and nobody can tell you anything. In the words of the honourable Buford T. Justice. "Now, fuck off".
