The Leatherneck and Bazooka from this year are both great molds that suffer from bad paintjobs.I still consider Leathernecks weapons tree the best of 93/94 yet it was only released with 3 figures I believe.
Glad I watched this. I have gotten 1993 Bazooka & Cross Country recently, both complete. I bought them both from the same seller. She packed all the accessories in the same bag. For whatever reason, I thought CC's orange backpack belonged to Bazooka. Probably because it's so whacky.
1993 was definitely a complete change from the 1980s years. I was still collecting and I have a lot from this year. My top 10: 1. Headhunter Storm Trooper. Looked long and hard in 1993/1994 and could only find one package that somebody had stolen the figure out of it. 2. T.A.R.GA.T. Great repaint of a cool figure. 3. Beachhead Not as good as the 1986 but still awesome mold and color scheme. 4. Snow Serpent Too bad he's not easier to find. 5. Heat Viper 6. Cross Country Almost as good as the 1986. 7.Backblast Great figure, good color scheme, and the sprin loaded missile launcher makes perfect sense for an anti aircraft Trooper.
My top 10 gi joe figures from 1993 are alley viper, backlast, bazooka, cross country, duke, firefly, headhunter stormtrooper, heat viper, iceberg, roadblock,
Awesome line up of Cobras for this pole. I'm cool with the Neon and stuff so I like a lot of 93 figures in saying that though Cyber Viper great sculpt awesome character but his colours let him down a bit, a lot of people don't look past the Neon and don't realize that there was a ton of nicely sculpted cool characters from 93 but they're just like "Yuck I hate his colours"...I think big Joe fans don't just judge a figure by his colours glad to see Mega Viper up there one of my Top Cobras, glad you guys had some positives for him, when he came up I thought Nooo they're gonna just diss him lol...Hey love your episodes can't wait for the 94 edition. 👍😎
Thanks! Would I rather have Mega-Viper in subdued colors, sure. I don't really care for things were the colors seem random. I dislike when pantlegs don't match the waist piece. (I'm not saying they are bad figures but) Drarklon, Vapor, and Cyber-Viper's outfits feel too random to me.
I started having trouble recognizing many of these figures a few years ago in the series. I got to say I don’t think I missed much. The color scheming on a lot of these later figures alone is just so out the spirit of the line. Why all the super bright colors other than it’s the 90s. Accessories are kinda dumb at times too. I think the only one I liked was the one at #1.
To be honest, GI Joe was loosing market share and Hasbro looked around at what was popular (Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and X-Men) and so they added bright colored accessories and spring-loaded action features to GI Joe trying to stay relevent.
