I like a comedian that knows a thing or two about football (for example: Bill Burr) but I agree these comedians that know nothing about football and are just there for “comedic relief” are annoying. Overall though such a great show!
It’s true, after their falling out Al Davis benched him until he was able to leave. Then he went to KC where he exacted his revenge on Al twice a season lol
A bigger question about Al Davis (at least to me), I’ve never seen a picture of the mother of his son Mark but Al was a good looking, charismatic, smart, wealthy, F off if your not on my side guy and had amazing confidence in himself which is at least at first a magnet to woman so was Mark the fruit of a drunken night of the weirdest one night stand between Al and by the looks of Mark a bipedal gerbil/human hybrid Dr Moreauesq F U to god that escaped a South American compound an inexplicably crossed paths with the father of Raider nation, or was he adopted.
I get your point but even with the bad blood, his career wouldn’t have lasted as long if he was getting 30 carries a game the entire time he was with the Raiders. Maybe with those carries he and not Emmit Smith is the career leader or with repeated 380 carry seasons like 1985 his body breaks down. Your not wrong but I don’t think it’s that cut and dried, but this is why we love sports discussing what ifs.
@@bumpusjones.1978 very good point. He wouldn’t have made it to the mid 90’s if he was receiving 25 touches per game in those last 3 - 4 season with the raiders.
Charles Woodson was a BEAST. Over 60 interceptions - ELEVEN of them run for TD's. With TWENTY sacks to add to that. Plus 54 tackles for a loss - and 33 forced fumbles - 18 of them recovered, with 2 being taken for TDs. Whcih is CRAZY for a DB. They did foretell his HOF selection though.
How many years did he have to play to achieve that? 20? So, 3 INT, 1 every other year run back for a TD, and one sack every year? THAT makes you a beast? I think he's the most overrated player in history, not named Earl Cambell or Gale Sayers. I certainly don't remember anyone saying, "Don't let Charles Woodson beat us". He was a moderately good CB. I would take two years of healthy Bob Sanders or six years of Kam Chancellor over Charles Woodson. Woodson was the CB equivalent of Drew Bledsoe. He certainly wasn't a beast to me. But I certainly respect your opinion.
@@Rockhound6165 I can't guarantee the Cowboys would have won the game, but even the Steelers, particularly Joe Greene, said Dallas cost themselves their best shot to win when they stopped handing the ball to Dorsett.
Not sure of the year this video was made, but it mentions there are eight Heisman winners who are also members of the NFL Hall of Fame. There are actually ten that I am aware of: (1) Doak Walker (2) Paul Hornung (3) Roger Staubach (4) O.J. Simpson (5) Earl Campbell (6) Tony Dorsett (7) Marcus Allen (8) Barry Sanders (9) Tim Brown (10) Charles Woodson Additionally, Marcus Allen is the only person who has ever lived that has accomplished these milestones playing football: (1) College football national champion (2) Heisman Trophy (3) College football Hall of Fame (4) Super Bowl champion (5) Super Bowl MVP (6) NFL league MVP (7) NFL Hall of Fame. Tony Dorsett accomplished all of the above with the exception of a Super Bowl MVP and NFL league MVP.
Yeah, but he never served his country in wartime. I'll take that check mark over a national championship anytime. And... that was the last time Navy ever contended for the title. They came close because of Roger, who has 6 of your 7 qualifiers. Plus, he played in 4 SB's in 8 seasons, winning two. But I ain't doggin Marcus. He was amazing. Peace
So it's Barry's fault that he had to carry crappy Lions teams? The last time I checked, Barry never played with an elite QB, it was rare he played with an average one.
Defensive back from Michigan Charles Woodson is the number 1# Heisman Trophy Winner in The NFL. He was in selected 4th. overall in The 1998 Draft. Won Defensive Rookie Of The Year in 1998, He had 11 pick 6's, Won D.P.O.Y. in 2009, Only player in NFL history with over 60 interceptions & 20 sacks, Won Super Bowl in 2010 with Green Bay Packers, &, Inducted into NFL Hall Of Fame in 2021, Plus Charles Woodson is the only Defensive Player to ever win The Heisman Trophy.
Barry retiring early is probably the best thing he did when you think that there is no really bad seasons that he had and there was no decline. Also I think I'd probably push Newton back to 10 and move everyone else up one and swap Campbell and Marcus Allen around. Allen was amazing, its not his fault that he got screwed by the Raiders.
Bro your channel is fire!! I am reliving all those great highlight shows of my youth...I'm only 39 but I grew up on the likes of Football Follies and NFL's Greatest Hits specials, this stuff is right down my alley rock on!!
OJ Simpson did win a National Championship in college, his junior year at USC. He belongs at #3. People forget what a great RB he was because of his off the field issues.
Oj Simpson was the entire Bills offense. The first back to rush for 2,000 yds in a 14 game season. He even had more rushing yds than the team Qb had throwing yds on most games. Dorsett and Allen both had complete teams. Both stacked on offense and defense. This is why he is ranked higher.
@@spencerleiataua3173 not only the first, but the ONLY player to ever rush for 2k yards in a 14 game season. Insane. He would own the single season rushing record by a mile if he had 16 or even 17 games to play. Hell, he might have pushed closer to 3k yards with 3 extra games.
Noone forgets about how great he was we just don't talk about him he didn't get a d.u.i the man murderd 2 ppl got away with it and then wrote a book on how he got away with double homicide So of course it out weighs football Chris Benoit will never be in the wwe hof because of his double homicide
There might be hundreds of people to tell Brown that he was to squeaky clean and needed some swag and attitude, but there are thousands upon thousands who prefer him to stay the way he is and continue to be a class act
Paul Hornung is so underrated. If he played for almost any other team we would talk about him today the way we talk about Jim Brown. Since he played for the star studded Lombardi packers he may have gotten 10 - 15 touches a game. Even with his limited opportunities he’s a legend. The golden boy.
@freddie davis go back and read my comment, slowly. I am very familiar with Jim Brown. That’s why I used him as a measuring stick when comparing someone from the same era.
@freddie davis once again you are completely missing my point. I’m using Jim Brown as the gold standard by which to judge another player from that era. I’m saying that PH could’ve been as prolific as JB was had he had more touches and was the only option on his team’s offense. I’m specifically zeroing in on JB because he was so prolific and was his team’s only option some of those years. I’m not comparing the 2. If not for JB the Browns don’t win that 1964 NFL championship. If the packers did not have PH I believe they still would have won the 5 titles that they won. Just my opinion.
It’s a darn shame this world and US in particular had come to the point of a Legend like Tim Brown not getting his rec because he was too perfect of a Great Dude. Ridiculous. I do feel that even with all the craziness going on in the world people are waking up and a player & person like him are more & more appreciated for their all around greatness on & off the field. Better to be a Great Person than a great player.
To anybody who doesn’t think Paul horning‘s stat sheet is quite big enough. Please understand that he had to split carries with Jim Taylor and lost a whole season in the middle of his Career in 1963 because of a Gambling suspension. But despite all of those setbacks, every time he touch the ball, he showed the entire league that he was arguably the best offensive player of his time
If they ever did a top 10 Heisman busts it would be a real tough list to come up with. There are 9 in the 2000's alone(Weinke, Crouch, White, Leinart, Bush, Smith, Tebow, Bradford, Manziel and a case can be made for RGIII, Winston, and Mariota).
Marcus Allen being only #9 is criminal. The main reason his career slowed down in the late 80's was b/c Al Davis hated him and tried to destroy his career. His told the coaches not to play him. What Marcus Allen would do in today's league would be awesome.
3:35 I remember being at dat game it was Off tha Hook he closed out da Coliseum but we ain't wanna leave!!! Oops I think I'm confused wit da game vs Phoenix when he left wit punt return n OT
Something random: Cam Newton was killed for not jumping on that ball in super and ppl were saying he didn’t want to hurt his throwing shoulder… just for him to hurt his throwing shoulder the next season and him not being the same since.
I would have put Eddie George and Jim Plunkett on the list (shame they were overlooked) with Roger Staubach at #1 and Barry Sanders at #2 (this was a close one). Also, Hornung won the Heisman on a lousy Notre Dame team that finished 2-8 - the only time a player on a losing team has ever won it as of 2021.
What do you think would have happened for Barry if he had played on a real team. Hell! Just give him 5 seasons with ,49ers ,Cowboys,Steelers. A franchise that won. I grew up with Lion's football. Barry was the only reason there was NFL joy at all in Michigan. 😎😎😎
The only reason Archie Griffin won two Heisman trophies is because Joe Washington wasn't allowed to be on television. Oh well, Joe Washington was on a Super Bowl team.
Cam newton changed the game with his style thats why he went before them he broke numerous records his rookie year as well. His first 6 to 7 years he was unstoppable
@@NDTexan tell me how he didnt he came into the league and broke just about every rookie qb record that stood the panther changed there whole scheme for him just give the man his props he came in and did his thing.
1. Earl Campbell best running back I ever saw, he wasn't part of the Oilers he was the Oilers. 2.O.J.Simpson (lacked killer instinct). 3. Barry Sanders 4. Tony Dorsett
What’s so funny about these guys saying “what did they win?” is that all of these NFL writers make the point that you need three things to win a title: QB, coach, defense. The best QB Barry had was Scott Mitchell. His longest tenured coach was Wayne Fontes. His defense consistently ranked in the bottom 10 of the league. He was in the NFC when they won the Super Bowl every year. How could he win in Detroit?
Ah yes, Cam Newton's infamous 51 passing TDs in the SEC. For how good he was as a runner, I am shocked he didn't score 21 on the ground and 30 through the air.
One group I have to, begrudgingly, give credit to on these lists is the 70's and 80's Raiders. They always stick together when it comes to saying a former Raider is ranked too low. Think about it. How many times have George Atkinson or Phil Villapiano said that a former Raider (or anything really related to the Raiders) is too low on the list? It's amazing loyalty, and I have to respect it, even if I HATE the Raiders.
1) WRONG! 30:07 OJ won the National Championship in 1967. Set the record for TDs in a season in 1975 & yards from scrimmage, the same year. A 14 game season btw. 2) Charles Woodson was Defensive RoTY in Oakland and was a perineal pro-bowler until injuries. Got beat for a TD in that Superbowl but also got a Interception.
In the description box you said this episode was “originally aired in 2012” but #7 is Cam Newton and they mention him leading the Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2015? Lol…
Joe Person is more monotone than Ben Stein and Charles Woodson absolutely earned his Heisman trophy he played in n 11 games scored 5 tds(Punt return, Rushing, Receiving) and snatched 7 picks. The reason i hate the Heisman Trophy is because it rarely goes to the actual best player. Its been going to the best player on the best team and only offensive players. Suh should have won his last season at Nebraska. Off top of my head i can think of three three undisputed Heisman winner Devonte Smith, Joe Burrow, and Derrick Henry
How is woodson not number one? Hes the only one on this list AND ever to have won the Heisman as a defensive player? And he's in the HOF that alone should put him above all others
Allen was Hella raw n he said I ain't no Oakland Raider but got drafted n 82 when I was born. But he was NFL MVP n if he ain't f Al Davis daughter 0r wife he a lead da NFL n RB Touchdowns
Marcus Allen deserves to be higher he would have been number 1 if his career hadn’t been sabotaged by the owner of his team that also refused to trade him despite his requests the fact that he’s as predictive as he was and has all those accomplishments despite that speaks for itself
It's pathetic that people still after all these years have to be saying that Barry never want a single thing which he never did with the Lions. He played great in college proved himself and he carried that reputation to the NFL and did not let down any of the years that he played. They won the division which was the old Central division I believe back in 91 and 93 so that would have been his second and 4th or 5th Year. He took a dismantled franchise from a no-name team and people don't realize that they were making the playoffs even if it was in the wild card most of his career. Never had a steady quarterback only won one playoff game that I understand but Marino only want a handful of f****** playoff games in his lifetime and only made one super bowl granted yes he made the super bowl but you don't hear them throwing that back in the argument about Dan Marino anymore because of what he did and how he revolutionized the position and that is exactly what Barry Sanders did. Because after a few years in Miami Marino can I even make it back out of the divisional playoff round I think after he won the AFC title the one year he was like over 3 or only over two in his career in the playoffs and championship games.
Let's cut the crap I know everybody has their favorites but pound for pound play for play and stat for stat both in college as well as in the pros no Heisman trophy winner can have the claim to number one on this list than Barry Sanders........ There's literally no one else like him.
30:09 Championships?! Teams win championships not players by themselves, you goofy 🙃 He ran for 275 yards against the Lions 🦁 He was the first NFL player to run the ball for 2,000 yards in a season (1973 season-14 ball games)
Las Vegas Raiders 🏴☠️ It’s our turn to draft a legit Heisman Winner to be a stud in The NFL & carry on that tradition. QB-Jim Plunkett RB-Marcus Allen RB-Bo Jackson WR-Tim Brown WR- Raghib The Rocket Ismail CB- Charles Woodson
Tyler Rose is #8? I never saw jim brown but earl is the man! PS Isiah robinsons daughter is on Cobra Kai. I wonder if she has a bruise birthmark right in the middle of her chest.
Time to stir the pot. Earl Campbell was a better RB than Jim Brown. He played in a more competitive league. He had better top end speed. He was an equally powerful back. He was just better. The stats would show it if he doesn’t blow out his knees and if Bum Phillips doesn’t run him into the ground with 400+ carries every year. And Paul Hornung is absolutely overrated. Jack of all trades, master of none. People reflect way too fondly on those early Packers teams. Was Hornung even the lead back on his team? Also OJ was a better player than Staubach.
'Plunkett was a flame out'. Puke. Coach ground Chuck Fairbanks made him run, ended up with a smashed face,. A coach with a diamond QB who has no flipping clue how to use him. That meathead nearly destroyed Plunkett but that seems all forgotten in youtube land
