@@RobertAdoniasCostaGomes it was only banned recently with surprisingly little fanfare, so, if you don't play MD I don't fault you for not knowing that. for some reason, they were letting spright and runick run around with it for a long time, so I'm sure a lot of people just thought MD was a format that would perpetually always have stein. while it was fun to cheat out unfair floodgates while it lasted, i'm glad they finally banned the card
I want to play Ib world chalice, Zoodiac Broadbull, Guardragon Agarpain, Painful choice and Djnn releaser of rituals in some of my decks. Which of the four formats are these cards legal in?
Something I find hilarious about Knightmare Mermaid: It was released into Duel Links before Orcust Knightmare. But when Orcust Knightmare was added, they put Mermaid to limited 1 alongside Orcustrated Babel to try and limit the power it could have. That did all of nothing as an easily accessible Dingursu alongside the draw 2 of return was so powerful, roughly 80% of decks had the engine at bare minimum and Mermaid was banned about 2 months after Orcust Knightmare was released. I find it hilarious that DL basically mirrored Mermaid's story in the TCG
That was a dark time. Splashed everywhere. The orcust variants that I've seen: -raging pendulum (still there) -gandora (still decent) -dark magician -thunder dragon -ddd -cyber dragon (wtf...)
@@Zelda345able no, that was done at the same time. My best guess is to prevent new variants from using it alongside Babel and also limiting the raging pendulum decks from abusing it
The only problem is that in reality is a 2 card combo. It is basically useless if not summoned with sunseed genious loci. The other uses would be to enable plant extenders like rose girl, carrotweight champion, or therion lily borea. but it's uses are limited outside the one hard combo it can do that requires 1 specific card.
striker dragons last effect is kinda underrated. now granted the best part about that effect is more so rokket recharger being a good card but being able to turn a link 1 striker dragon into the revival of something like a borrelend dragon is just crazy good. sometimes this even allows you to do really silly stuff like linking off your own borrelend for a huge 7300 accesscode and then bringing borrelend back by just summoning any low lvl dragon, going into striker, poping itself and add recharger to then summon borrelend
Striker dragon's second effect means that dinosaur dragon link can exist as it can pop a babycerasaurus on the field and then end on a dragon link board plus uct and evolzar dolkka.
Yeah, but the best monster to use to summon elpy, striker, etc... isn't seyfert, it's house dragonmaid, eclipse wyvern, red metal dragon, white stones, etc... seyfert is fun but gives you no immediate advantage
@nunocarvalho6671 that's completely not true, it actually gives far more immediate advantage than every card you mentioned and its not even close, there's a reason why seyfert is a 3 of with no question in dragon link but some lists dont play black metal at all. Seyfert sending itself gives you black dragon collapserpent then you summon black to link into striker searching white, then any link 2 dragon, which isn't amazing but then when you consider how seyfert combos with almost every dragon card played in dragon link you realise that seyfert + 14 other dragons you play in dragon link (including itself) give you combo lines ranging from 3-7 interruptions depending on what you pair with seyfert and what combo line you pick
@@benbaylis3977 not to mention how versatile the search is. Opened a absorouter? Send it to search destrudo. Opened a galactic spiral dragon, ced or levianeer? Send it to search another 8, then once seyfert hits the gy recycle the other 8. In the case of ced you could then even add back the banished seyfert to do this loop every turn. Back when elpy was allowed we even had combos with seyfert being the elpy target simply for being search and recursion, whereas brotaur for example only searched
Links were often given to archetypes or themes that couldn’t summon out their Extra Deck in MR4, so their Link 1s needed overpowered effects to facilitate their own plays. The issue of course is that Konami underestimated the utility of summoning an Extra Deck monster off of a single material.
That is where Predaplant Verte Anaconda and the attribute-specific Link-2 monsters like Hip Hoshiningen, Wee Witch's Apprentice and Missus Radius are made for.
Cause being honest, Crow by itself isn't really game breakingly broken, and isn't even the MAIN reason superheavy was playable. Cards like Mermaid, Linkross and Elpy warped entire formats around themselves and cards like Sera and Meow are *The entire deck* by themselves. Scarecrow is a good card but it doesn't fall into either category
@@BK-zy4zk The reason they banned it is very simple: SHS would be a budget tier 1 deck, and TCG Komoney can't have that now can they? I guarantee they would've left it if it was an expensive deck.
Sera deserves special mention for actually making Traptrix a deck all on it's own Prior to Sera, Traptrix was just an engine at best, and one that hadn't seen relevance for years at that
@@DekrossI know it's in the video, genius But I wanted to highlight how Sera turned an obsolete engine into a deck veering on rogue singlehandedly. And that was before the SD
Top 10 non-union archetypes that put their monsters in the back row. Bonus points for "union but better" type effects like Dragunity, Magistus, Sup Sams, Cyberdark, Destruction Sword, Inzektors, Infernoble Knights, the Claw of Hermos fusions, Therion, Plunder Patroll, and ZW's
Magical Musket Max deserved an honorable mention. It's arguably one of the most busted link 1s ever printed, but it's held back by being affiliated with a bad archetype.
It was pretty dumb that they added Knightmare Mermaid in Duel Links even after its evident power in the normal game. Once Orcusts got Orcust Knightmare, they took over the meta overnight and every deck runs the engine. They had to ban it there too, which is impressive since it's pretty rare to see something get banned in Duel Links
Thanks for explaining why Linkross is good. Somehow its effect seemed unassuming to me (Tokens with such a low level that can't even be used for Link summoning themselves?) but now I see how other recursive monsters such as Martial Metal Marcher quickly allow you to Synchro climb into all kinds of other things with those tokens (perhaps even things that plus further such as Denglong, First of the Yang Zing).
I'm surprised that Salamangreat Almiraj wasn't on this list, a link 1 with a discard effect that targets your monster and it cannot be effected by any card effects that turn, that is EPIC!!
@@benhwa101 Linkuriboh requires a 1 Lever Monster, while Almiraj requires a Normal Summoned Monster with 1000 ATK or less. Depending on the deck, Linkuriboh may not be useful at all. The same can be said of Almiraj as well, of course. My point is that Almiraj played the same purpose as Linkuriboh of sending a particular monster to the GY, but was forgotten on the list.
@@davidcantor8349 It wasn't forgotten but Linkuriboh and Link Spider already basically had the same entry and Almiraj would've been exactly the same. I just erred on the side of the cards that saw more play in top level decks, which Linkuriboh and Link Spider handily win on. Almiraj is basically in the same tier as them, but less busted (linkuriboh's gy effect and link spider's interactions with tokens make them more powerful).
Before the link 1, it was Zoodaics bending over the entire player base with just 1 card needed to access the extra deck, explode in value and be hard to stop without using the most painful of means which then lead to better cards that can get around said hate cards and on and on this spiral of madness has gone.
@@thatman666You'd think they would learn that letting a monster have the power to affect the opponent's hand is too powerful of an effect with Chaos Dragon Emperor, but they then released so many monsters that could loop themselves to discard the opponent hand.
I keep watching these videos as a person who played years ago, and have a deck with some decent stuff in it, but I have 0 Link and Pendulum cards. I'm a Blue eyes person who won't let go of that nostalgia, and would love to see what pendulums and Link go with my Blue eyes cards.
I don't think any pendulum cards work well with Blue-Eyes. For links you can use Linkuriboh to put the white stones in your graveyard to get their effects.
Morphtronics could get a Link-1 monster that rearranges the top deck in order to enable Celfon and to allow you to run equip spells for Braver Dragon without hard bricking the deck. Morphtronics are kinda ok when they get rolling, but they never get rolling XD
Yes! In fact, why not go the whole hog - have it be a Babel for Morphtronics & let it change the battle position of a Morphtronic monster on the field (on a non-OPT) each time your opponent activates a card or effect, but you can't change the same monster's position more than once with this effect.
Seeing traptrix sera on the thumbnail brought me joy traptrix is what got me back into yugioh on master duel was going to build a naturia deck and accidentally got basically all of the traptrix so ran it and it's still my main deck to climb with I'd call it a pretty fuckin good rouge deck I've been diamond 1 multiple times with my traptrix lol people don't expect the utopia double for some reason lmao
Meow Meow Mu can come back to 3 and nothing would negatively impact the meta. We have been long since past the days of every deck using the adventure engine.
I would've had a dual spot for Marincess Blue Slug and Sea Angel, but if I took my bias out of it, you'd have to get rid of the top 3 for them to even have a chance. As much dislike playing against it, that Link 1 Scareclaw is incredibly vital to that deck, too. Link 1s that plus you in some way are kind of silly, not gonna lie.
I don't agree with kagari being so high. I agree sky strikers are a good deck but sky striker is a whole ass deck not just one monster. Kagari isn't strong. Kagari does not do anything broken. Putting it at 10 feels more appropriate if you wanna talk about how good sky strikers are
Top 10 cards used for what they are, instead for what they do? I am pretty sure - Gem-knight Garnet (the most played Gem-Knight Monster, by virtue of enabling Brilliant Fusion, and in worst case scenario, being a brick with decent 1900 ATK, that coined the term "garnet") and - Elemental HERO Neos Alius (the core behind "HERO Beat" Decks , by virtue of being a Level 4 LIGHT (honest target), Elemental HERO Warrior (Meaning it was searcheable in so many ways) 1900 ATK Gemini monster (which Enabled Gemini Spark's effect and Hero Blast's Effect) - Dark Magician and / or Red-Eyes Black Dragon (Red-Eyes Dar Dragoon's main fusion components, especial dark magician) Would make the cut
I always found it funny a way to get new support was including a link 1 when link started way back of 2020 something but other oddballs like abyss actor getting not one but a link 2 and Tg over stepping that with a link 3
How about Top 10 cards that would be broken in other archetypes, ie cards like Ojama Red (Summons 4 archtype monster when summoned with no restrictions) or Snake Rain (Discard to foolish 4 cards from deck with no restrictions)
Fun fact: Knightmare Mermaid was limited in duel links for simply being able to make a link two instantly if you drew iblee in your hand. You used iblee to make a mermaid, summoned another iblee from the deck and summoned iblee to your opponents side of the field. Then you could just simply use mermaid and iblee to make any link 2 and just have your opponent locked down from summoning anything but links. Later, when orcust was realeased, mermaid got instantly banned
I find it funny that Dragon link has 3 of the strongest link 1's, some of the strongest link 2's, Link 4 bosses that were used by everyone else, lvl 8 synchro's that are also extremely powerful, and a link 5 that does everything. *still only tier 2*
Dlink is tier 1 right now? Literally the second best deck in top cut conversion after kashtira, which is the only truly bad matchup (70% because dimension shifter is a card that exists) if they had hit kashtira harder Dlink would be the current best deck
Could you do to finish up the link monsters series do top 5 best link monsters please because of the fact the fact that there is only 9 link 5 monsters printed so far.
Idea for a link-1 monster: _Chain-Link Utility Barrier_ (EARTH) Link-1 Arrow:⬇️ Rock/Link/Effect 1 EARTH/Rock monster with 2000 or more ATK or DEF _This card, and cards it’s arrows point to, cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. This card, and cards it’s arrows point to, cannot declare attacks or inflict battle/effect damage. You do not take any battle or effect damage from battles or effects that involve this card or any card it’s arrows point to. Once per turn, you can tribute 1 card this card’s arrows point to, then activate 1 of the following effects depending on the type of the tributed card:_ Monster: Normal Set 1 non-effect or Flip monster (from your hand, deck or GY) with a total ATK/DEF equal to or lower then the tribute’s. Spell/Trap: Set 1 Spell/Trap directly from your hand, deck or GY. ATK/2000
No. No more link ones that aren't archetype specific. Links ones shouldn't even be CLOSE to being generic. Also, "tribute a card this monster points to to set ANY spell/ trap from hand , gy or DECK". This is a troll right?
@@trippersigs2248 You misread: It specifies any _card_ it points to, with effects depending of the type of the tribute (Monster or Spell/Trap). So if it’s in your extra monster zone, it’ll be pointing to a monster. If it’s in your main monster zone, it’ll be pointing to a spell/trap (UNLESS there happens to be a monster in there for whatever reason, but unless it’s still treated as a monster instead of a spell/trap then the point it mute.)
@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire STILL completely busted lol. No link 1 should ever allow you to set ANY spell/trap without it having an insane cost. Like it doesn't even restrict usage on the spell. Edit: I just read it again. It's a SOFT opt that fulfilles ITS OWN summon condition? Bro.
@@trippersigs2248 Fine, easy fixes then: _Chain-Link Utility Barrier_ (EARTH) Link-1 Arrow:⬇️ Rock/Link/Effect 1 EARTH/Rock monster with 2000 or more ATK or DEF _This card, and cards it’s arrows point to, cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. This card, and cards it’s arrows point to, cannot declare attacks or inflict battle/effect damage. You do not take any battle or effect damage from battles or effects that involve this card or any card it’s arrows point to. Once per turn, you can tribute 1 card a “Chain-Link Utility Barrier” you control points to; Activate 1 of the following effects depending on the type of the tributed card:_ Monster: Normal Set 1 non-effect or Flip monster (from your hand, deck or GY) with a total ATK/DEF equal to or lower then the tribute’s. Spell/Trap: Set 1 Normal or Continuous Spell/Trap directly from your hand, deck or GY. ATK/2000 THERE, put a HOPT on the tribute effect, and made the spell/trap set apply for slower spells/traps only.
@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFireDid you not know you can't activate quick play spells the turn they're set. You removed the LEAST problematic part of the spell/trap set effect lol. There are cards on the Banlist JUST because they can add a spell from grace to hand. you CANNOT have a generic spell Set in this game. The only way it would even be CLOSE to working is if you couldn't activate the set card until YOUR next turn. Anything less that that is OBSCENELY busted especially on a generic link 2. Also, you DIDN'T give it a HOPT lol. " You can only activate this effect or Chain-Link blah once per turn" is how a HOPT works.
Traptrix sera should by atleast number 5,imagine your effect says "bro you play the game, you get card advantage, which that card advantage is also playing the game" like bro,it shows that you dont need a 4000 atk and def, inmune to your oponent card effect, board wipe, effect negate boss monster to by,well a boss monster
