Lets be honest here, no one falls for the fake box, it's pretty terrible. I mean there was a reason there were no clips of people running into one in that video, it just doesn't happen.
Well if you're smart then you could plant it behind a set of power up boxes so that they get it by accident but then again you're right for the most part LoL
The only way you can make people fall for it is placing it inside regular boxes, and even then the stationary box inside the moving one is pretty obvious. It works on the AI, though, as does leaving them on boost panels. I'm just glad they finally got rid of it in 7. It was a pretty useless item.
Thomas Hertog That and the coin are 2 items I wish they would remove, the blooper has never caused me to loose direction, and the coin is something you get way too much in MK8
Spiny Blue Shells are pretty easy to avoid, you can use a mushroom and boost right as the Spiny Shell blows up. You can use the Super Horn, Invincibility Star, wait for someone to pass you as soon as it's launched, or falling off the course.
SmashFan95 Depends on where you place it., like putting it on top of a small boost pad or near a ramp jump that had a bottomless pit or one of those narrow roads or curves it can be a absolute menace. plus it's more useful than the Banana at the very least as it can't be destroyed easily and has a bigger hitbox. I've seen some very nasty placements of Fake Item boxes
I remember when I would play with all my friends, if someone threw a red shell out, the guy who got hit leaned over and punched the thrower in the arm every single time XD And when the blue shell came out, all the hell broke loose

I remember playing Mario Kart DS (best DS game might I add) and always coming in first place. Thanks to the bottom screen, you could see who had what item. So whenever I saw someone having a blue shell, I would reverse backwards into second and watch the ai/player burn in hell thanks to the blue shell. I'm a horrible person.

Not going to lie but Chain Chomp is way cooler than Bullet Bill (yes, I know they excluded Double Dash powerups but still). It wasn't bullshit broken and had a real risk to using it: it yanked you everywhere and could possibly send you into a wall or off the edge if you used it at the wrong time. The positive was that it kept going after the chain breaks and continues to hit anyone in its way.

I think that star Is the best as if you have a race with expert shortcuts you could always use it to go across mud dirt plus your invincible combated to the billet bill you are invincible but you don't have any control over it and you can't take expert shortcuts as it only takes you on the main path
AlvarHanso84 (I've never played MK8)the lucky 7 is annoying to have in my opinion. It is very difficult to control which weapon gets used next, and if the bomb gets set off it blows you up.
@@Charlie-ei8zn No, power ups are abilities, items give you those abilities, but only some do. For instance turtles shells are items, they are just given to you to throw. They do not give you a power up. The Power Star is an item, but it gives you the power up of invincibility.
Personally, I prefer certain items for certain race tracks. Ex. Bananas on Donkey Kong Mountain. *sigh* I broke so many controllers because of mario kart.

Well to answer you reasonably, the Mega Mushroom is cool and all but you can still be over taken by stronger items like Bullet Bills, Stars, and Lightning Bolts. And the star is better by itself because it won’t get stolen as easily as it would be stolen or taken out of the Lucky 7 or 8 would, besides if you get a Lucky 7 or 8, how many times do you spam all the items?
no because after the chain chomp rolls away u lose control for a few seconds. But i like it better than the bullet bill because it is so much more HILLARIOUS!!!!!
+cheeky lad The chain chomp is way more balanced. Like, who would want a stupid starman over a bullet bill? They're the same thing, except one's just better! Chain chomp helps that by making you completely lose control.
You forgot the best tip for the lightning bolt is to save it for opponents who are making big jumps to cause them to drop straight down into the pit or having to go back around the track to redo the jump.
Was anybody else kind of annoyed by the fact that during the explanation for the fake item box, there were no clips of anybody actually driving into one? Seriously, why the hell would I want to see several clips of people obtaining the item if you won't even show me what happens when someone uses it? I can't even think straight. Got to like how #8 is the shittest weapon in the series, that they couldn't even use a video example.... Also 3 mushrooms is better than gold mushroom, depends on the track why only take 1 and a half short cuts, when you can take 3
Okay 3 Things: 1: While I was watching WatchMojo's Top 10 Mario Bros. Power-Ups today, it came to my mind that they should now typically publish this countdown someday, and sometime soon. And funny thing is, IT WAS PUBLISHED TODAY!!!! 2: The Blue Shell should NOT EVEN BE MENTIONED on this list, let alone ANYWHERE NEAR IT!! Because of the obvious fact that it was more unfair and frustrating than it was useful. 3: The Top Spot was COMPLETELY predictable, whether it was up to 3 or just 1 Red Shell. Red Shells no matter what deserve the Number 1 Spot on Mario Kart Weapons/Power-Ups, and in the Top 10 Best Overall Video Game Weapons of All Time (in general)!
The Blue Spiny Shell isn't that good because while it hurts to be hit by it, it isn't going to help the user. You usually receive this item when you're in the back of the pack.
Am I the only one who thinks that the Wii version is out to screw everyone? I mean, it takes skill in the 64 and Double Dash versions, but for some reason, in the Wii version, the power ups just simply make you go from 1st to last in a second. That game really annoyed me.
You want to really talk about skill, go get Super Mario Kart from the Virtual Console. My first ever game was MK64, I recently went back and tried SMK, and no offense to any fans of the game, but how did you play it? The turning is terrible, it's digital, not analog, input, and you can barely see walls...
Michael Wynkoop Seeing as how we used the D-Pad for EVERYTHING back then, it wasn't difficult at all. Back then, we dealt with the more challenging games and gameplay. Kids today are spoiled with their simplistic and easy games. Seriously, kids today can't even make it past the first 3 boxers in Punch-Out! Even when I was 4, I still didn't lose at that game until I got to Bald Bull.
While looking through the comments, I realized that not a lot of people know how to strategically place the Fake Item Boxes. I usually hide them inside other boxes, put them on narrow pathways (the bridges in Maple Treeway and the tunnel exit in Daisy Circuit make it virtually impossible to avoid), set them in front of or behind speed boosts, on the bend of sharp curves (everyone drifts around them and aren't able to avoid them as easily) or cut in front of someone and drop it off (this gives them VERY little time to react). I use bananas in the same way, but FIB have are bigger and can't be as easily avoided in some of these circumstances.
BANANA should be No.1 you can lay down many of them wich can stop enemy projectyles like red or green shelps , also can slow them down or in good positioning they can even get your followers off the road and THEY SMILE
Number 1 should be the Blue Shell!! Don’t you love getting it in, let us say, 7th out of 12th, and you throw it only to realize that you’re still around 7th place, all you did was help 2nd to 4th place mainly.
One of my favorite power ups is the heart power up from Peach and Daisy in Double Dash cuz of how defensive it is and if an item comes into contact with you while you have the heart you will actually be able to use that item for yourself so if a red shell comes at you instead of it hitting you you will actually absorb it and are able to launch it back at someone.

Lightning is the most overpowered bonus in this entire game. It should have made number 1. Not only is it pretty rare. 1. It slows enemies down (so it's always effective, unlike shells that can miss or be countered - even homing shells). You can't counter the raw speed reduction. (outside of blowing mushrooms or maybe using a star) 2. Being crushed can't be countered without a personal weapon active. 3. In some rare instances, holding on to lighting borderlines cheating because, especially in Mario 64, it made some parts of levels UNPASSABLE if you got shrunk while trying. Take the final gap jump in Wario Stadium. Once me and my friends figured out you can't make the jump @ shrunk speed, once someone got the lightning - you would see them hold it until lap 3 no matter what. It was the ultimate killer. Grab it once, wait till third lap, slap down everyone so they can't even complete the final jump - win the game. There were a few other jumps this worked with too. Also disabled you from getting to some short-cuts - like the hole in the wall in koopa island, reaching the blue shell diamond in koopa island. If you used it right, that bonus was deadliest. And who could forget lightning on someone trying the Rainbow Road jump lol. Meh, Lightning was OP as fuck. 3 red shells? I've seen them all fall off someone in the thicket of green shell spam lol. I've seen 3 of them home in on someone with the IQ of a sweet potato and hit the wall. 3 red shells rock, no doubt. Not the best.
Another thing about lightning is the people in the back grow back first and the people in the front grow last so it evens the playing field for everyone who didn't use it.
How is the 7/8 power up before the star when the star is part of the 7/8 power up? Also, I think you guys have a broken video because blooper was not in it.
My favourite power up in Mario Kart is the golden mushroom. I find it really fun to just spam the "use" button and speed ahead of everyone and everything!
About the blue shell, you can either stay in second then use a power up at the end to get the win, or just get so far ahead it doesn't even matter. But that second option isn't as fun.
The bullet bill is a faster alternative to the star that will go farther quicker and you won't fall on a course like rainbow road. No. 6? Also where's the piranha plant? It's seriously overpowered

Not sure if this was already commented on, but the Boo actually was in the very first Mario Kart game, at that time the item itself was just known as "Ghost."
Mushroom is #1. It's so versatile, instead of slowing one enemy down with any other, you can move faster than anyone else in the track, so relatively speaking you just slowed everyone down. You can use it for shortcuts, and it even dodges blue shells in the newest Mario Karts. And it's so common to have.
One thing that many don't know about the blue shell (at least in the earlier games) is that it can be held behind you to make a sort of super shield. No other shell can break it, so if you decide not to use it but still get to first place somehow, it's going to be really hard to take you out without a lightning bolt or star.
It is not making sense that one single star is higher in this list than a star, a red shell, a mushroom etc. together... WHY?!?!? And why is there the fake item box?!?!
I hold a large amount of respect for the Blue Shell. It's the great equaliser, making sure that new or inexperienced players have a chance, while also stopping the person in front from gaining too much of a lead. If someone was way out in front and no-one could catch up to them, the game would get boring pretty fast.
To me, the blue shell doesn't really help you out at all mainly because you commonly get them when you're in 7th or 8th place. It won't benefit you because hurting the person miles ahead won't help you get ahead at all. It's just helping anyone who may be in 2nd or 3rd place.
