You know, considering that the "Forbidden Realms" are a thing in Yugioh Lore, Makyura is basically this weird-looking guy called "The Destructor" who is the most feared and powerful being in the world, sealed away because he has unrestricted access to "dark magics" (trap cards) that could be used to "destroy the world" (i.e. the meta and the game). Goddamn Yugioh is actually pretty anime. Forget the 20 minute card commercials. We need an actual "The World of Yugioh" anime with monsters as characters.
seriously ive been asking for that for years so many cards hint at lore from the game hundreds of thounsands of them as well as places things that happened and so much more they clearly have more then enough material for exactly that yet they never capitalize on it
@@steampunkastronaut7081 Goblins man, just think about it there is entire world dealing with Goblin attack/elite forces that number in the thousands, sure most cards focus on the individual characters but the Goblins together can slay dragons infact it's likely that upon victory the Goblins would loot equipment (equip spells) and charge forth to overrun yet another foolish knight or hero who believed that one against hundreds was a good idea. Of course Dinosaurs getting into an all out brawl with Cyber Dragons would be just as cool visually, or maybe the horrifying implications of the Plant monsters fighting giant Insects.
Here's a thought for a list. Had this idea from one of your older lists. "Best costs that are actually a benefit." For example, Pot of Desires cost fueling Gren Maju.
I never unstood why Konami didn't expand upon the single word blanket effects like "FLIP" like Magic does with "flying," "trample," "haste," etc. Card effects are a mess and discourages new and returning players from getting into the game.
Your first turn, yes, but not the first turn of the duel. It would be winning on your first turn but it is still the second turn of the duel. Attacking on the first turn of the duel is impossible and can never be an ftk. You'd need spells, monster effects or traps to FTK with CED.
It's a TCG vs. OCG thing. BEUD, Cyber-Stein and Megamorph were all out in the OCG before the TCG was even released. Indeed, the first Kaiba structure deck had all three, making it one of the best structure decks of all time. It's just BEUD and Cyber-Stein weren't printed in the TCG for many years because early promo cards, the first wave of structure deck, a handful of series 1 cards that weren't reprinted, and Shrink weren't printed in anything that was adopted to TCG. Since almost every video game is based on the OCG (WC2006 uses TCG release packs for some reason, and it still includes the cards missing in the TCG in special game-only packs), Cyber-Stein+BEUD+Megamorph OTK is present in pretty much all of them and thus still recognizable to people in TCG regions. Seto Kaiba actually uses it in Stairway to the Destined Duel, and you're flat out told how to do it in a tutorial for Duel Academy.
Except mudball man as a joke maybe Neo mudball man's effect should be: must be fusion summoned. His card's name is treated as "elemental hero mudballman" on the field.
Or, in CD decks Power bond Twin, Limiter Removal. 28×2×2=112 11,200 damage. Edit: continue reading I did the math wrong Power Bond is an ATK double Limiter Removal is an ATK double Twin's double attacking is an ATK double (effectively) 28×2×2×2=22,400 damage at max
@@wickederebus I once did Power Bond and Chain Material as a last ditch and summoned Overdragon with 28,800 ATK to destroy my opponent. also Super Strident Blaze.
I kinda would like to see a video titled, "Top 10 Archetype specific Trap Cards" I'm pretty sure Zefra Divine Strike and something from Altergeist would make that list.
@UCmoS_OEvooOqayoqa9jqmvw They're certainly not tier 1 or 2, since they suffer in terms of consistency and recovery, but they can put out some monstrously powerful boards. I would put them above a lot of other rogue decks.
Gaia Drake, The Universal Force is most commonly known for its ability to be summoned using a monster called Summoner of Illusions, who tributes one monster, and special summons a Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck. It is destroyed during the end phase, but because of Gaia Drake's effect, he'll remain on the field as a massive 3500 atk beater. It was often used in slow moving stall decks, especially Ghostricks because it would allow you to protect yourself with a monster that actually has a body, instead of relying completely on cards like Ghostrick Lanturn, and Ghostrick Scare. It was kind of a niche strategy, but it was pretty good back before the ruling change. Even with the April rule change, I don't think Ghostricks would be worth the risk. If you run into a deck that uses link monsters, you basically just get to roll over and die because they can't be flipped face-down. :')
Dark magician says its the Ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense so that means it can beat any card including man eater bug. Day 17: of asking duel logs to make top 10 best archetype specific link monsters.
Oh yeah? Well my Blue eyes white dragon is virtually invincible. So it cannot be destroyed by any means or even defeated in any sense. So it's either we tie or I win.
honestly these are my favourite cards. why they think someone would love to read a 10 paragraph effect text (or explain it to a friend during the duel) is beyond me, a running theme with the newer expansions, isn't it?
@@ltzp2 ah yes that's like jar jar Abrams making star trek like star wars cuz that's what he wished it had been... Didn't work out well did it? Almost like if you try changing your product to have wide appeal you lose what made it good. My friends and I play without synchro, xyz, pendulum and link monsters.
I remember when I got the Legendary Hero box, Leo was in the Nordic deck, and he won me tons of duels. I played him much more frequently than the Aesir synchro monsters.
Cyber Stein also saw a lot of play in Duel Links for a short period of time because of a skill that lets you activate Pay LP costs for free, which let you put two 4k beaters on the field and OTK
They should give Makyura the same errata they gave Temple of the Kings. "During the turn this card was sent to the GY, you can activate 1 Trap Card from your hand. You can only use this effect of 'Makyura the Destructor' once per turn. " As it stands right now, basically no one plays Traditional, and Makyura is a dust collector. Being able to activate one trap from your hand is fine.
Cyber stein was a shonen jump prize card initially, which sold for over $7k on eBay when first released because the primary target was thousand eyes-restrict
You forgot the card whose text reads: "This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale." Did I just use multiple sentences in one submission? Screw the rules.
Honestly Skelengel has actually only gotten stronger with the game's powercreep. It's already an objectively better Jar of Greed since it has the same Draw 1 effect, but instead of using a crappy Normal Trap, you get a body on field. A level 2 body that can easily be yeeted away into the extra deck.
Im getting flashbacks with that cyberstein meta in DL, where you used tea's ability to not pay life points to just flood the field with the cyber dragon fusion and blue eyes ultimate
I haven't played yu-gi-oh in 15 years, and about a week ago some of your videos on the older cards got reccomended to me. Decided i forgot how cool it was and i had to but some stuff and start collecting and playing again, so thanks for your good content! :D
i really wanna see them make more cards like this. it wouldnt be too hard either. a lot of cards have really complicated effects but what they actually do ends up being pretty simple. i feel like they could easily cram some really cool stuff into a single line like these if they really wanted to
I remember putting skelengel and manju of the ten thousand hands into my first deck in a desperate attempt to give BLS something LIGHT to banish from the graveyard. For dark I didn't have much trouble. Drillago was a favorite of mine.
In Duel Links they could change the card text of Leo,The Keeper of The Sacred Tree to "... except during the end phase". That way it's not always un-targetable.
@@zanzeron4277 Actually they've come out with many cards from the Anime that were not printed in the TCG/OCG. Just recently Duel Links added The Unchosen One and added the effect that you skip your battle phase. It would be easy for Duel Links to change the effect.
Still want that "Top 10 Monsters With the Most Appearances on Other Cards", though I still haven't figured out a shorter title for that. Also, I get how with Makyura and Chick the Yellow would allow Call of the Haunted to be used infinitely (I think), but not the infinite damage part.
Infinite damage because you can use call infinitely. Chick summoned from the GY by Call hits for 1000, effect returns own Call to hand, sending Chick back to GY. Remain in battle phase, cast Call from hand, attack again.
surprised they haven't thought of putting a limiter on Makyura's effect, like "During the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard, you can activate Trap Cards from your hand, up to a maximum of 3 times"
Mist Valley Falcon: 4* / WIND/Winged-Beast/Effect / 2000/1200 "This card cannot declare an attack unless you return a card you control to the owner's hand" effectively panther warrior, but actually good because bouncing up your own *spells* is something you can play for with cards like Safe Zone and Big Bang Shot (equipped to opponents' monsters). since it's bounced up as cost, you can't negate it unless you skip the battle phase immediately with an effect like threatening roar or scrubbed raid. even a mirror force won't stop big bang shot from banishing something if it gets equipped.
Gaia Drake The Universal Force had a gimmick in Ghostrick along with Summoner of Illusions. Basically, you can cheat him from the extra deck via some ghostrick shenanigans involving Summoner of Illusions. Back in the day, it was a pretty interesting thing
Remember when you did that Top 10 Cards that Only Saw Play in Duel Links? Why not do the opposite? Top 10 cards that saw play in the TCG but not in Duel Links?
Cyber Stein is so nostalgic to me because when I would face kaiba in stairway to the destined duel world-wide edition. Sometimes seto would use him to bring out blue eyes ultimate dragon and boost him up with megamorph, but few times I would have magic cylinder set even resulting in a somewhat otk every so often. Good times lol.
He forgot Man-Eater Bug, Old Vindictive Magician, Flash Assailant, Servant of Catabolism, Little Wing Guard, Leghul, Cyber Harpie Lady. I'm probably missing some cards. But those were worth mentioning.
What about Top 10 Monsters with the most support? For example, Neos Alius gets Warrior, (some) Neo Spacian, Neos, Elemental Hero, Hero, Level 4, Light attribute, and Gemini support.
Draw 2 cards, from where? My deck, my opponents deck, the bottom of my deck, my mind, my sleeve, that pack of cards over there, the parallel universe, the anime, the guy playing next to me’s deck, like cmon. Tf am i supposed to do
@@krytocon6825 from what I remember you were allowed to open up a new card pack right there in the duel... shame it got banned. I always kept at least 3 kaiba packs with me at all times

Cyber-Stein in its beginning days was more known for summoning Cyber Twin Dragon and Cyber End Dragon, depending on which benefitted you more at that moment, as both of them had pretty powerful stats and effects that quickly ended the match if your opponent had no response.

Skelengel, in a slower format obviously, could be really useful for Light Fairy Decks. If you can keep it alive, and no doubt there are ways to do that, and consistently flip it back face down, again I know there are very easy ways to do that, you basically have a Pot Greed on Demand. The problem with Skelengel now matches are over in just a couple turns.
makyura lets you use trap cards from your hand get chick the yellow in the graveyard and call of the haunted on the hand, revive chick the yellow with call of the haunted, attack with it and activate its effect, return call of the haunted to the hand which sends chick the yellow to the graveyard, revive chick the yellow...
@@ugh5880 wow I was being very stupid. For some reason I was thinking Call of the Haunted would go to the graveyard after you used it from your hand, like a quick play spell would, but the monster would still stay on the field without it for some reason. I don't know why I was thinking that but this makes sense now, thanks
Bruh how am I just seeing this video now. I’m the one who invented the Wildheart+Power of The Guardians deck in duel links. I always try to find new ways to use Power of The Guardians
Maybe Konami could make a retrain for _Makyura The Destructor_ that actually focuses on the _Destructor_ part, and keep it as powerful but redistribute said straight more fairly…: I’m thinking that when Makyura destroys a monster by battle, it can do one of three effects per turn: A: make another attack B: destroy a spell/trap on the field your opponent controls C: destroy a card of your choice in YOUR hand/field, for cards of your own you WANT destroyed or in the graveyard. And these all link to a main effect to A allow the activation of “one” trap in your hand or already set this turn for every card Makyura destroys by effect or battle. So at least 1 or two traps per turn on its own, rather then EVERY trap you have, and it’s up to the player to pull it off. And for good measure to further reign it in, make it a level 7 monster that can either use 2 monsters OR two face up trap cards to tribute summon, give it an even original 2000 ATK/DEF, and when the card is sent to the graveyard, you can _search_ a trap or flip monster from the deck. It the OG remains one of the strongest cards ever made, then it makes sense to make a retrain a boss monster in its own right, or at least around that level of power. I think with these, you get a semblance of the original effects, while refocusing the old might of the card to be potentially even stronger, but in a way your opponent can better retaliate against.
For Makyura The Destructor, do you think it could come off of the ban list if its effect was changed to "During the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard, you can activate 1 Trap Card from your hand."? There are already cards that allow you to activate a trap card the same turn it was set (IE: Trap Trick). Seems like Makyura is only kinda degenerate because it has no limitations on how often its effect procs. Would it see some play if its effect was toned down in that fashion?
I once went up against a player who managed to use cards like book of moon and a monster I think was called "A/D Changer" with Morphing Jar to OTK me by making me deck out.
Back when I played a monarch deck, Majesty's fiend definitly would have had a place on this list. The simple effect "Monster effects can't be activated" caused quite a lot of instant forfeits on DevPro. It's just to special for this list since it needs one tribute and can't be special summoned, I guess.
