I don't get it either. I have not seen any evidence of poor sportsmanship on her part. Although it is true that her game has flaws -- the serve, in particular, is weak -- I cannot understand why anyone would want to dislike her. Actually, for me, I admire the effort she puts into other aspects of her game, such as her shot placement, to compensate for her technical issues.

I think some people are still bitter remembering the drama she had with hsieh su-wei a few years ago. She was definitely in the wrong and continued to defend herself in the press conference afterwards. Seems like people find poor sportsmanship hard to forgive sometimes

Cibulkova was awful. She had a Napoleon complex (being short) and overcompensated with her attitude.

I loved Cibulkova on court. But eversince she retired she has had a few bad moments here in Slovakia, most notably getting herself a covid vaccine in a few first days when it was meant only for elderly and medical staff and then bragging about it on social media.

Love Ostepenko, not because she's a sweetheart. She's not. She's a selfish horse's ass, but her brand of tennis kicks total butt on the entire WTA except the top 7 or so players, which she never seems to beat (plus Azarenka who has her number). Watching Ostapenko play is like watching a good fireworks show. She's super entertaining. Sometimes her crazy, rocket-powered shots are so off the charts, I literally find myself laughing out loud when she crushes another winner, both forehand and backhand. You may not like her, but you have to admit, she's fun to watch.

no, I dont watch any of her matches, and hitting winners is not the definition of fun for me. people love people with lack of sportmanship, that´s it. she only won 8 tournaments on a whole carreer, she is no way close from kicking each others butts, girl lost to a random korean last year

Obviously an eastern european with a dislike for Sabalenka. She is loud, yes. But she is very entertaining, humble, and successful. With the trophies and with the likeability.

@@shaunmoran9004 humble? not sure. Except loud, her on court attitude (especially when she is losing) was quite terrible (saw in person) before she won her first grand slam. But it seems be better now after she got AO from 2023.

It doesn’t matter that you are unsure. I am not. And the pressures on a young woman with a lot of potential to succeed can be soul crushing, and she was young. Now she has grown and is more mature. And yes, humble. And yes, I’ve also seen her live. Much easier to watch than any American
