This is a top 10 list of the most expensive video games for the Sega Genesis and/or Megadrive using CIB (complete in box) prices as the basis for this list. #sega #genesis #megadrive #retrogaming #retrogames #investing #collection
The Punisher game came out when the Sega Genesis was nearing the end of it's popularity on April 1995. To make matters worse, it was released in limited production and it's MSRP was a hefty $60. Most brand new Sega Genesis games were on average $40.
@@DreFromMaine8472 it’s so fucking good. The controls and gameplay is so tight and fun. It’s not quite the tour de force the sequel is, but it’s a ton of fun.
Long live the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis I love that there is new games made for my favourite gaming console games like Xeno Crisis , Demons of Asterborg , many more
Yeah I somewhat unintentionally left out box variants, homebrews, collectors editions, etc. out of the list. But you're right Paprium would have been #3 on the list.
Have a couple of those games (cartridges only). Got the Punisher game not too long after the Thomas Jane movie came out and got Truxton because the cover actually reminded me of something from Contra. Gald I got it though...fun games.
I have The Punisher, years ago I bought it from a used media place for $40 and I guess they weren't aware it was worth more. I liked playing the arcade version of it. I have Aero The Acrobat and Rocket Knight Adventures and I've never played Aero 2 or Sparkster. I've also never played Zero The Kamikaze Squirrel. Castlevania Bloodlines is another pretty expensive SGEN game, I had it years ago but now I have the CV Anniversary Collection from PSN which has it and all the other classic CV games!
We just got our sega back and i was gonna buy mutant league hockey its 100 for just the cartidge. This should be on the list he missed it. It's 300 in the box and 1000 if its sealed. Regardless i wanna get it to play. It was a good one
🤦♂Sigh... I owned half of these titles at one point. I can't believe Zero: The Kamikaze Squirrel in on this list! Freaking Funcoland was a helluva drug back in the day.
I know Tetris wasnt available for very long on the Genesis because of legal issues but, i may be wrong, not ashamed to admit if I am, but i think a few physical carts were released and are beyond expensive.
Yeah I heard about that. I believe there were licensing issues with Tetris on the Genesis/megadrive so the game was scrapped. Most of the carts that were made were destroyed and there are only a few copies left in existence. They must be extremely expensive lol
@@supergameghost yeah. There was a miscommunication about Nintendo and Atari owning rights to console Tetris games and Arcade games. Somehow Sega thought they had secured the rights but after they realized they didn't because of how hard and confusing it was to communicate with the ussr, they quickly did what they could to pull every cartridge before tons were sold. A few did end up being sold and they are one of the holy grails of Sega games. Crazy thing is, they finally released the game on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive mini. I think it was the 2nd one but I'm not sure. I don't own either one at the moment.
Yeah this list focuses on complete in box games that were more easily available to the typical consumer. Many games were excluded that didn't have an official release, came as part of a hardware combo, and competition carts. :)
