I remember saving $3 (it took forever) to send away for the Miss America Doll from Kellogg’s she was kind of like Barbie but when you moved her legs arms moved up and down and her head moved left and right. She had a crown dark brown hair and a beautiful dress. Wish I still had her.

I once sold an empty box of Count Chocula for $125. It was the one that was removed from shelves 2 weeks after they were out. Dracula wore a pendant that resembled the Star of David so they all were removed and became very rare.

Don't forget the vintage cereal box itself. Resale Rabbit was selling vintage cereal boxes from the 1970s for hundreds of dollars each; unfortunately, his cleaning lady threw out a whole box of cereal boxes he was going to list on eBay, thinking they were garbage.

As a railroad collector I have to mention the cereal premiums from Post cereal in the 1950's most people don't know about. It was before my time. They made Railroad logos out of tin. Railroads from all over the United States. I used some of them when I last married. We married on a train and everyone was assigned to a table based on the railroad. Because I'm a west coast gal and I used to live near the line, our table was Southern Pacific.

Smurf Berry Crunch at Christmas Time in the 80's had Christmas Ornaments that were no more than 3 or 4 inches high and came with a string. I had one. Snow White ornaments, it was a short lived Disney Cereal that I can't for the life of me remember the name of but it was popular with girls as it had Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast on the box and inside was an ornament for each Princess: Snow White's ornament was the apple, Sleeping Beauty was the spinning wheel, Cindy's was the Glass Slipper, Ariel's was the Conch Shell Ursula wore on her neck that held Ariel's voice and Belle's ornament was the rose under the glass dome and the mirror. Didn't see them after 1991 can't even find them on ebay or either of the amazon sites.

I grew up during WW2 and I had the Captain Midnight Decoder that I had to send away for. On the Captain Midnight radio show which followed right after the Lone Ranger show, they would give out a secret message which you could decode if you had the decoder. I had it for many years but think I sold it during the 60's after my mother and I started an antiques business.

I love that you shared the history of the toys since I've always loved history! In grade school, I wasn't reading comics, I was reading biographies of Revolutionary War heroes - can you say nerd? LOL My mom still lives at the house I grew up in, so I will have to go through the drawers and see if any of these missed one of our many garage sales back in the day! Hey Kevin, Some interesting pieces of history. I would love to find those Military pins. The official US Air Force was actually not established until 1947. Those would be Army Air Corps squadrons which does carry more value for the rarity. I have done pretty well on Army Air Corps stuff. Sold a 1943 Flight Suit sold for $150 I got from a cleanout on base when I was in training. - Brandon (SSgt, Active Duty Air Force)

I remember them in the early 1970's, Alpha Bits box had ABC by the Jackson 5. Saw one at a toy show about 20 years ago selling for $5. Should have bought it. They also had some of the iron ons that you could get for a dollar or two with box tops. Boy, kids today are sure missing out 😊
