Now that's a lie. The Blazers didn't draft Bowie because they thought he was better. They drafted him so they could move Mychal Thompson to fill a gaping hole at PF. They not only had Drexler at Off Guard, they also had a perennial All Star in Jim Paxson. What were they going to do with three Shooting Guards? It was a very understandable positional selection

Amazingly talented...Uh HELL NO !!! Not averaging 13ppg and only 8rbs per Game in college as the first option. But I agree, he wasn't a BUST just didn't live up to his No. 2 overall pick. When your selected that high you're expected to lead a franchise to multiple Championships.
@thebestcentaur
@thebestcentaur Год назад
I disagree. He’s a partial bust mainly because he was selected between two of the best ever, and he put up okay but pedestrian numbers when, as the post above me said, he was supposed to be a strong cornerstone of a franchise, if not outright lead them to the promised land. He will never be known as the worst player in NBA history, not by a long shot. But he qualifies as a bust IMO because of a combination of horrible luck and circumstances mostly beyond his own control (like injuries) when other players were turning their teams around

I'm not sure I can agree with the Danny Ferry choice. While I see the point you're making about production from a number 2 overall pick... you also don't get 917 games out of a second-rounder. I could also agree that Danny Ferry wasn't starter material, but he was a very serviceable role player his entire career, even during the backend. it's fair to say that he didn't have an impact, but I also feel like there are a lot of players in that draft underperformed and also didn't have 917 games. Granted... those players weren't picked second overall. I'm sure this was a hard choice. Great list though! You know... for a bunch of busts!

Why would Portland draft Michael Jordan when they had drexler already they drafted what they needed a big man it just didnt pan out if bowie would've stayed healthy he probably would have been 20 and 10 which is solid but his legs failed 2.7 blocks is very good he wasn't a bust he was just injury prone

A bust is someone who is rated very high and drafted high and then fails to reach their full potential. Injuries or death should not be considered in labeling a player as a bust.

James Ray really 8.2 minutes a game how can anyone have success that is 2 minutes a quarter If he played the whole game that equivalent 16ppg 16rpg. Bill garnett was in a bad situation just like Harold miner on a team full of guards only playing 12min a game aka 3min a quarter. That is why Steve Francis left Vancouver too many guards there.
