Just love this list so much. This video might be a top 10 but the thumbnail is top 1! I have to say, there’s something so vampiric about Serge Lutens in general. So cold, so austere, refined to death. Perfect as the spotlight perfume in the thumbnail.
I’m really surprised you included Cristalle in the list 😂! It’s the least Halloween thing I could think of…I’m very glad I snapped a bottle for as little as AUD 140 (about 73 GBP) back in 21, couldn’t find it again ever since! Although, Chanel have recently relaunched both Cristalle EDP and EDT in updated bottles, would love to hear your thoughts on both!
Pretty interesting choices, a lot of new scents to me. Kind of was expecting the more usual suspects, like TT - Laudano Nero or maybe Black Afgano, perhaps T-Rex LOL. But these choices really surprised me. Nice vid, I always appreciate when not that popular scents are featured, great way to discover new scents.
Lovely suggestions! Re: damp earth, i remember Voleur de Roses from L'Artisan Parfumeur. And something new - Oratorio from niche brand Pigmentarium. Again a healthy dose of patchouli. For me there can be no vampiric fragrance without incense, so Nu by YSL is a must. Now to ruin all with a wreath of garlic hehehe!
I adore the idea of Cristalle as a vampiric perfume because it is! I love the scent, but it has always had a frozen heart which renders it perfect for this video. I feel that Fracas could make this list, as well as the enchanting Nahema (which I talk about far too often), but in a different category as they are certainly devoid of froideur.
I just smelled Poison this past week for the first time. Now I have to try Hypnotic Poison. Funny how you pointed out Tuberose because I thought No.22 had a very vintage vampire vibe🧛🏻♂️🧛🏻♀️
Lovely video Mr. P and greetings from nyc! My vampire scent would definitely be FM Carnal Flower. I once rubbed my eye with a hand that had the dried scent on it. It ended up dilating my pupil and causing blurred vision for the day. Definitely a deadly scent, but still, in the best possible way 😂❤ 🧛🏼♂️
OK, Madonna has 15 albums, if we include I'm Breathless. You could do a top 15 list where you choose a perfume that best represents each of the albums..!
Brilliant to do this video in black and white!! I wore Angle for halloween, as no discriminating vampire would be interested in an angle or the scent itself!! Just getting through my "watch later" queue of your videos I am catching up with; otherwise, I know Halloween was two weeks ago😇😜.
Love that thumbnail. 🤣 And the b&w! Didn't know you were such a Dr. Who buff either! Your descriptions are always so innovative Dariush. Fantastic stuff.
What an intresting list! My top Choice would be Magie Noire, its not discontinued, its in a square bottle and reformulated but still recognisable Magie Noir. My mum used to wear the OG, so I know it well.
Haha, with my jesting trendsetter comment I meant that you, by transitive property, introduced Madonna to Portrait of A Lady. That aside this is a wonderful list, I'm glad to have caught some of this live.
Congratulations on the Bela Lugosi imitation of the thumbnail! 😂 So happy you mentionned Tellus which is in my opinion very underrated... and also I believe is now sadly discontinued.
What a brilliant video! I had so much fun watching it and will definitely come back to it, you mentioned so many interesting films, perfumes, etc, that I'd like to discover or revisit. Thanks a lot for sharing your passion and knowledge with us Mr P !!!!!
Wonderful edition!🧛 Intriguing list. What about Nasomatto Absynt (do you remember the scene....?). Encre Noir and Serge Lutens Bapteme du Feu (the perfect Halloween scent with tangerine, cloves, gunpowder and castoreum). Cheers and greetings from Holland.🎃
I was gonna comment Bapteme du feu and glad to see I am not the onlyone who thought of it. That scent is unsetteling but aluring at the same time. Perfect for a Demon or Vampire
Just watched now as wasn’t able to tune in live due to working late . Brilliant as always and I love the tangents and you fanboying Dr Who . I wore Histoire de parfum Marquis de Sade for Halloween as it’s dark and debauched 😂.
I am getting the association between tuberose and vampires. There is something about that note that is on the border of human and beyond human. Via del Profumo's Night Blossom takes tuberose to the predator level which might fit here.
What a creative list! You have certainly piqued my interest in a few of these. I'm particularly keen to try Robert Piguet Atomica and Parle Moi De Parfum Papyrus Wood. If I were to make a list of my favorite Dracula inspired scents, my top 5 would be: 5) Laboratorio Olfattivo Sacreste, 4) January Scent Project Smolderose, 3) Frank Boclet Cocaine, 2) Tauer Incense Rose, and 1) Aaron Terence Hughes Smoulder.
I did not "celebrate" Halloween, but yesterday was a fairly gloomy day (one of the first autumn day in fact here in Italy, plus I'm a sucker for this kind of things, childish as they may be) and I wore Beaufort's Fathom V. I find it perfect for a dark atmosphere with that smell of dead flowers. P.S.: They're going to change N°19 EdT too, I'm highly disappointed. I love that perfume. I never tried the vintage and I am happy with it, I'm worried about what it is going to become.
Excellent list...I just got back from New Orleans for Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos...lots of vampires there!! I used ELdO's Hermann while I was there. I have to get my nose on that Atomica. (Belated) Happy Halloween!!!
My favorite vampire scent is Pentalogies Etude 1.4 - Le Goût. Its got this dusty, almost herbal medicine type patchouli note in a honey, gourmand. Definitely not for everyone, but something about it is so good.
Haha, what a fun review! One of these days the timing will work out and I can join you fine folks (Vlad the Inhaler 😂😂). Dior Midnight Poison is still the quintessential Halloween vampiric fragrance for me.
I'd missed the "Adorem" review and am now so curious! I tried an Avignon sample, and while it was gorgeous, it disappeared within about an hour for me. While I was browsing, I also tried Samaharam by Arte Profumi and fell in love. The staying power was much better than Avignon, and it gave me that same "walking into a Catholic church" vibe. I was looking for a fragrance as close as I could get to Trudon's "Spiritus Sancti" candle and these two were as close as I came.
The most un-halloween pumpkin ever 😂..loved the episode... Montale oud cuir d Arabie is probably the most vampire/werewolf perfume I have... Shalimar not far behind 🦇
bwaaaahhhh.. Dr. Who!!! hehe… although my name is not at all related to the character. Hoping and curious to join in sometime, how do you share your time/dates for lives?? Also is it just me.. I loathe when my signature scent goes viral and i do get annoyed when i smell it on others or especially when i find out it’s being worn by a celebrity , even if i like said celebrity ?!? (i have been wearing PoAL since my visit to the FM shop in Paris 2014)
Thanks for watching. I try to give as much notice as possible about upcoming videos, but unfortunately, I can usually give no more than about 24-36 hours notice. Any info is usually posted here on RU-vid on the Community tab (make sure you've clicked on the little bell so that you receive notifications about updates) as well as on Instagram.
I feel justified seeing Patchouli Magnetik on this list. When I first smelled it, I was horrified!! I thought it the vilest perfume I'd ever smelled. The second time wasn't as bad, but still... it is absolutely unwearable for me.
So sorry my comments were delayed on the live because I had to pause the live. Barbara Clegg wrote Enlightenment- spot on. She’s still going strong and was both a great screenwriter and an actress (she acted alongside Katherine Hepburn and Richard Burton in her time). Thank you for your kind comments, my husband was so thrilled and touched that you remembered her episode!
Rebecca, you cannot believe how happy your comment made me. Thank you SO MUCH! That one line from Enlightenment - "Enlightenment wasn't the diamond. Enlightenment was the choice." - has stayed with me ever since it was etched into my impressionable little teenage mind. Never in a million years did I imagine I would be able to communicate with someone connected to the person who wrote it. Please, please let Ms Clegg know that the spirit of her story has stayed with me for decades.
@@Persolaise ditto - your comment has made us very happy. It was the first episode written and directed by women and the eternals were based on her very wealthy relations who owned Littlewoods. I haven’t actually watched the episode (but we have the novel) but the last line is a wonderful summing up that enlightenment is wisdom not knowledge. You have inspired me to track down the episode. Thanks for a very special episode and all your wonderful episodes and reviews and tangents.
@@rebeccadippyegg This is just beyond incredible. Thank you so much for offering to tell her about me. You could also mention that I saw Enlightenment while living in Dubai (before it became the bling capital of the world!) on a quaint little local station called Channel 33. As for Mitsouko... wow! A wonderful writer AND she has great taste in perfume.
I cannot believe you like Patchouli magnetik!!!!!!! To me, it smells like the H-10 insect spray, without elegance, without a story!!! without soul......
