Nice video! This vine has been growing in my ancestral home for almost 40 years, it blooms only in February in our climatic conditions of Central India. Never thought of growing it in a pot, might give it a try soon.

Very informative..I do frequent air layering of this plant and the results are good..in 6 weeks time (around monsoon), I'm able to make a few babies of the mother plant..

I have two Petrea plants bought almost a year ago, and they are growing well, but they have not flowered yet.Waiting eagerly for the flowers.Hope cowdung and bonemeal and other organic manures won't hamper or delay floweing.I got seedlings but from your video only i came to know stem cuttings also will work though rarely.Thank you for giving Petrea volubilis growing tips.

Stem cuttings work much better actually...adding compost is more advisable

I have three cuttings. It's been about a month since I planted them (followed your video), and while one is giving new leaves, the other two are sort of just hanging on to their old ones, so maybe only one will survive ultimately. I would like to plant them in grow bags (easier for terrace gardening, weight-wise). Should I start with small ones, and then move them to big ones as they grow? Or should I put them in big ones straight away? What grow bag/container size would you recommend?

If it reaches hgts of 2 or more ft u can go for a big grow bag...you could use gunny bags as grow bag just a suggestion

I have one query. I have bought a new Sandpaper vine plant and planted it on the ground, not pot. But the place that its been planted receives 8 hrs of direct sunlight since the other locations r either occupied by my fruit trees or the place is too shady or receives only 3 hrs of direct sunlight. So will my plant thrive and flower well in the location which I have placed her in ?

I bought a seedling with two leaves in February (which is late summer here in Sydney). The leaves fell off for some reason by autumn and now it's midwinter. I fear that the seedling had died. How do I know if my seedling is dead?

@@Urbanscapegardening It is green, yes. And it's in a spot that barely gets sunshine (perhaps 1 hour in the morning). I transplanted it in a sunnier spot (with 90% of the roots intact). I hope this won't affect the plant?

@Curio I live in Brisbane and have 5 large specimens. Mine also lose some of their foliage every winter - but they bounce back. Mine are all in the ground, with rock dressing on the garden beds, and I have never fertilised them (they were already quite large). They grow rampant every summer, and we find we have to prune them several time a year, as the previous house owner planted them under the eaves, and they rub on the paint and guttering. I love them though.

@@shereeralph3802 It died a few months ago. So I bought another (a seedling). Even that doesn't look very healthy to me. It's not putting out new leaves, and it seems to be losing them. Now it just has two leaves. Why is this plant so sensitive? Besides, it's midspring. Maybe it isn't established yet? I'd be really hard pressed if this dies one as well.

U can try adding the cuttings in a well draining soil.mix. Feb end would be ideal if not u can now. Make sure there are more cuttings keep it sheltered exposed to east facing sun and water when the soil is dry
