That's the great thing with PS2 era. You could make a top 100 and there would still be people complaining that their favorite game is not on the list. The golden age of console gaming.
That's why PS2 is the king of video game consoles. It's not my personal favorite console of all time (PS1 is) but you just can't deny the absolute greatness of the PS2 and what it brought to the table. I honestly can't see another console or handheld taking the crown from PS2 within the next decade, PS4 will probably be right behind it by a couple million units once it stops production though. Scary ass shit when you think about it, Sony has 4 consoles and all 4 make are in the top 5 selling home consoles of all time.. crazy
All this talk of a new Playstation console had me sorting through my collection of 200+ PS2 games and come up with my Top 10 list…with Honorable Mentions! What is your favorite Top 10 Playstation 2 Games?
One game of each series. No particular order. Dark Cloud, Kingdom Hearts 2, Odin Sphere, Tales of the Abyss, Final Fantasy X, Persona 3, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter 3, Dragon Ball Budokai 3, Resident Evil 4. Of course some games are on more consoles but once they came out on the system I counted it as a ps2 only except RE4 but still, RE4 is amazing even the gamecube version is better IMO (gamecube version came first). Another one is Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner, but since Persona 3 is part of the shin megami tensei series I wasn't sure if I should count it.
Despite owning and loving the PS2, I didn't have much money at the time, so I didn't have access to an absurd number of games, but from what I've played, here would be my list. 10- Katamari Damacy 9- Savage Skies (two player was fantastic in it) 8- Dark Cloud 7- Kingdom Hearts 2 6- Dark Cloud 2 5- .Hack// Infection (although all of them are great) 4- Okami 3- Tony Hawk's American Wasteland 2- Shadow of the Colossus 1- FFX
My top 25 PS2 games: 1. Castlevania Lament Of Innocence 2. Shadow Of The Colossus 3. Gradius V 4. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 5. Contra Shattered Soldier 6. Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec 7. Capcom Vs. SNK 2 8. Devil May Cry 9. Mortal Kombat Armageddon 10. God Of War II 11. Tekken Tag Tournament 12. SoulCalibur III 13. Rumble Roses 14. Ace Combat 5 15. Armored Core 3 16. Zone Of The Enders The 2nd Runner 17. Tourist Trophy 18. Silent Hill 3 19. Resident Evil 4 20. Fatal Frame III 21. Onimusha 3 22. DOA 2 Hardcore 23. Warriors Orochi 2 24. Tomb Raider Anniversary 25. Prince Of Persia The Sands Of Time
PS2 was by far my favorite console. I didn't put anywhere near as much time in on it per-game as other consoles, but I always had more PS2 games than any of my other systems and was always impressed with how big the library is.
@@matthewlynn2522 the fact that it takes you around 25/30 mins in real time to go from the top to the bottom of the mountain is incredible, tricky still just slightly wins it for me though
@tigeroscarfan ssx is very similar to thps in terms of the combo system and other stuff, but ssx throws a spin on basic snowboarding and adds uber tricks, which are tricks that allow the player to take the board off of their feet mid-air and get big combos, though you probably already know this
Isn’t it crazy how this era was so great at immersion. Watching that socom reel reminded me how older games may not be graphically polished, but provide better character motion when taking damage and better AI
For years I've been trying to find a game that I played on the PS2. I remember it having a really fluid fighting system. It's been driving me crazy that I couldn't find it. Then when you put down The Mark of Kri I immediately recognized it as that same game. So thank you for this video!
Star Wars Battlefront II, Kingdom Hearts, Shadow of the Colossus, Call of Duty WaW, Black, God of War, Silent Hill III and a lot other awesome games that you forget
This video is so nostalgic for me, when I was 13 it inspired me to ask for a PS2 for my birthday. That year I got a slim with Shadow of the Colossus and Sly Cooper; I'm 19 now and I still have that same PS2 and play it all the time. So thank you MetalJesus, been a fan of yours ever since and I'm not going any time soon
tbh we think they're not good now M O S T L Y because we've seen sooo many of them its kinda just...boring cant add much without straying too far from what NFS is.
@@Jacketx im playing both underground 2 and most wanted right now and they still hold up, really good games. also i tried playing one on an aulator with Hd textures and its looks awesome
You do realize that mainstream video game reviewing has been a thing since the days of the Atari 2600, right? You could even get subscriptions of every game on the market for the NES back in 1984, reviewed by a Nintendo Representative. The obvious problem with that system being that the Nintendo Representative would be very biased toward any and all Nintendo games. His blatant refusal to admit that Rambo for the NES was bad is the stuff of legendary trolling.
@@thomashampton600 Alright, so are you calling AVGN wrong despite him having and displaying literal copies of the magazine subscriptions in his Season 1 playlist? Or, are you simply just misremembering? Link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ut3n8-9JM5o.html
@@randomwhitedude9227 People are just jealous of others who get to play video games for a living or just success in general, they live sad lives and get butt hurt when seeing someone happy.
Your channel is rich with content. One of the few RU-vidrs who actually do some effort and have vast experience of what they're doing. No fancy bullshit and straight to the point stuff. I love it.
*I personally think the **_Jak and Daxter_** series is the best of the platforming genre on the PS2.* *I also love the Tekken series, my favourite is Tekken 5 of course._*
I dont know how to unlock characters and I emulated tekken 5. I suck so I might not really like it. Dont hurt me. It's too easy to block and then spam back on someone with kicks. I really dont like tekken games.
Nightfire, Agent Under Fire, and Everything Or Nothing always felt like GameCube games to me, better frame rate, and GoldenEye was on the N64, so it felt like a Nintendo franchise to me, the same goes with the Star Wars games. Well, those were actually GameCube exclusive, I mean Rogue Leader, and Rebel Strike. Heck even Tony Hawk was a GameCube series for me. That was about the time the excellent Resident Evil Remake, and Resident Evil Zero came out, also Code Veronica "X". The Metroid Prime games were popular too, Eternal Darkness, Killer7, Twin Snakes, P.N.0.3., and F-Zero GX.
*games I loved as a kid* 1. warriors 2. 007 nightfire 3. grand theft auto san andreas 4. true crime new york city 5. rachet & clank 6. crash bandicoot tag team 7. psi ops 8. jak & daxter (that's all I can think of XD)
Omg someone else that loves NFS hot Pursuit 2? Feels like everyone else just goes for UG or MW. And yes, so much yes, Burnout 3 is the best arcade racer to date. I love it.
Lea HP2 was so amazing, I was playing everyday trying to unlock all the cars and levels, I still remember the special level with all the F50 around one of the hardest road
Hot Pursuit 2 and Burnout 3 are best racing's game of all times on the ps2 I play them for hours when I was a kid ,and both of those game believe it or not got me into cars and racing and i still have my ps2 and play them to this day🚘😎
I loved HP2 on the Xbox but never had a playstation. I recently got the emulator on pc for the ps2 version of HP2 and it is absolutely amazing, much better than the Xbox version. The physics are so much fun and so are the cops. Honestly the only negative thing about the game is the extreme rubberbanding, which is annoying.
Never really liked underground tbh, but MW had some really fun cop chases. HP2 is the best imo though, the races on MW wasn't even close to being as exciting as in HP2
These 10 are great picks, and there is still missing so much stuff like Metal Gear Solid 2&3 , Gran Turismo 4, Shadow of the colossus, Tekken 5, Dark Chronicles, Twisted Metal Black, Silent Hill 2, Kingdom Hearts, Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, Saints Row, Dragon Quest, Zone of the Enders, Okami, Age of Empires 2, Sly Racoon, God of War 2, and so many others you could enjoy if you liked the gametype or franchise it was made for like Lord of the Rings, harryPotter etc...
My top 10 to share: 1- God of War 2- God of War II 3- Tekken 4- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time 5-Prince of Persia: Warrior Within 6- Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones 7- Need for Speed: Underground 8- Need for Speed: Underground 2 9- Resident Evil 4 10- Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. Thanks Metal nice video!

bla2772 What? Just stating the truth. PS2 games had some trophy's you can win or awards in the game. But it was the game that made me go back to play them. Not the trophy's. Not the awards. It was about the game itself that made people... or at least most people go back to playing them.
Yeah, these days it's either shooters (FPS style shooters especially), or really shitty puzzle games,. I loved FPS games when they were new and fresh (ala Doom) but nowadays the market is overly saturated with them.
Shadow of the Colossus was a great game, but in such a large pool of games it definitely isn't a top 100. Kingdom Hearts... I just have absolutely nothing positive to say about this... thing.
I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts a lot for its concept, characters, story, and especially its Disney theme. It was so nostalgic to visit the worlds. Each time would make me want to watch the movie again. However, I noticed I really do not like the combat. I actually think of all the KH games, in terms of the gameplay itself Birth By Sleep was the best.
Andrew Phillips I just couldn't do it. Poor combat, poor premise, poor narrative, bastardized Final Fantasy characters and Every Generic RPG Protagonist EVER. I think the only thing that was done correctly were the Disney characters and the gummy ship. But for some reason, I am not at all surprised by those being the only things not FUBAR. I hear it already. "But Final Fantasy has generic protagonists too!" Yeah and I think XIII and both of it's sequels are total ass, too. At least I-XII (excluding XI which I still pretend doesn't even exist) had good gameplay and somewhat engaging characters and story.
Prague C Yeah the older FF games were great. I honestly did enjoy FFXIII and FFXIII-2 but feel they are far inferior to the earlier games. I remember when I did play KH the first time I recall enjoying it. So naturally when 1.5 HD Remix came out I picked it up only to realize that the game is way overrated. Sometimes a second look at a game many years later can change one's opinion drastically. For me it works both ways. Games I didn't like I give another shot and end up loving them, then other games like KH I realize how flawed they truly are despite enjoying them in the past.
Just like playing code veronica with samurai. It has these slow tank controls, dark setting, and good puzzles. A super early ps2 game that does not age well especially when comparing it to the Onimusha 3. But if you like the series and like older resident evil games then this game is highly enjoyable!
"The Thing", "Cold Fear", "Extermination", "The Warriors", "Batman Begins", "Obscure", "The Getaway", "Twisted Metal Black", "RE:OutBreak", "RE:OutBreak File 2"
Same yust got godfather every review say that it is a boring game but i played it a litle bit an its a pretty good game its like gta but in mafia style
Liam Barrett It was pretty much the 007 Goldeneye 64 of the early 2000s, you had to do objectives and stuff, and not just that, it had multiplayer and was the first to have online multiplayer for the ps2!
Jak and Daxter 1, Ratchet and Clank 1, Silent Hill 2, ICO, Project Zero 1 (Fatal Frame 1), Return To Castle - Operation Resurrection, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X,
(No particular order, one game per series!) 1. SmackDown! Here comes the Pain 2. GTA 3 3. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 4. Resident Evil 4 5. Guitar Hero 3 6. Eye Toy 7. XIII 8. God of War 2 9. Soul Calibur 2 10. Metal Slug: Anthology I never played Metal Gear Solid, ICO, Grand Turismo or Tekken so I couldn't add them to my list (I was a Nintendo Gamecube fanboy!)
***** They're really expensive unfortunately! I don't doubt that I'd enjoy it but there's too many games and genres I'm interested in for me to want to pursue it
My Top 10: 10. God Of War 2 9. Time Crisis 2 8. Metal Gear Solid 3 7. SSX 3 6. Spider - Man 2 5. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory 4. WWE: HCTP 3. 007: Everything or Nothing 2. GTA: Vice City 1. Pro - Evo Soccer 2001.

PS2 was definitely the console I put the most amount of time in - it was such an amazing system! I played it all the way through high school and way into college so I have so much nostalgia tied in with it. Some of my all time favorites are: Silent Hill 2, Cool Boarders 2001, Final Fantasy X, the Dragon Ball Z games, Grand Theft Auto Series, Gran Turismo, MGS 2 and 3... I could really go on and on. Great video - it was good to see some diversity away from the usual top 10 games.
10.Barnout 3 9.Mafia 8.Max payne 7.Resident Evil 4 6.Ratchet and Clank 5.Tekken 3 4.Final Fantasy X 3.Gran turismo 4 2.God of war(1 and 2) 1... Metal Gear Solid 2:Sons of Liberty
These are the games i played or owned on ps2 in no perticular order. "Devil May Cry 1 & 3", "Deus Ex", "Red Faction", "Blood Rayne", "Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2", "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty", "Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 & 2", "Shadow man 2", "Resident evil 4", "Ghosthunter", "The Thing", "Drakan: Ancients Gates", "Drakengard", "Tekken 5", "Need for Speed: Most Wanted", "Final Fantasy X", "Fatal Frame", "Red Ninja", "Dead To Rights" .... and the list goes on. Probably recommending them all, great games.
6:30 "I don't know why the developers left this behind, I would love for them to go back and make another proper survival horror game" (sic) Oh man, watching that part in 2020 is interesting....if only past Metal Jesus knew what was in store for him.
I'm planning on getting a PS2 again to play games I missed out. Black, Timesplitters, Red Faction, Jak games, Ratchet and Clank, Medal of Honor games on PS2, etc.
Bob Johnson Stevenson the 5th Yeah, it's a shit opinion. Just because it's an opinion doesn't mean it's bad or shit. SSX 3 being the best game of all time while games like GoW, Tekken, MGS, Persona, all being released for this system is fairly ridiculous. I mean, merely rating SSX 3 above Final Fantasy or Resident Evil is a disgrace to be honest. This list is fucking dreadful in my - clarified - opinion.
My top 10 favorite PS2 games 10 Socom 2 Socom 1 9 Sports ps2 games 8 NFS Hot Pursuit 2 7 GTA San Andreas 6 Spider-Man ps2 games 5 X-Men Legends 1 & 2 4 Burnout 3 GTA Liberty city 3 GTA 3 Tony Hawk pro skater 4 2 GTA Vice City Call of duty 3 1 SSX 3 Tony Hawk pro skater 3 I love the ps2 games so much

@Alvaro Garcia I used to say the same thing about the ps1. I absolutely loved parasite eve and mgs 1. I also played the living shit out of games like oddworld, crash 2, Re 2 and 3, castlevania mk trilogy and much more. Ps2, ps3 and ps4 have a lot more games I absolutely love though.
I love this video and in my opinion, without a doubt, the PS2 is the greatest and most fun console of all time. The games are so classic but my three favourite must be Ratchet and Clank 1, Downhill Domination and Simpsons Hit and Run
Banjo kazooie no offense but N64s library doesnt have shit on that of PS1 or especially the PS2. i had all 3 when they were new. the N64 had some great games it was far too few compared to the selections on PS1 and 2. the PS consoles just hammered it in multiple genres easily. GC couldnt match them either.
Alex G237 The PS2 was and still is the highest selling console ever, it sold over 157 million units, "Did you know gaming" made a video on it, I loved the PS2 but I prefer the PS1, "Did you know gaming" also made a video on it, it sold about 104 million units and I think it had the widest variety of games, the PS1 had over 2,500 games made for it but the PS2 had over 10,000 games made for it. I will admit that the PS2 was a better system not just in terms of hardware, but just about everything else as well.
JustARandomGamer Maybe Gamestop, they sell retro games now but I don't know if they sell PS2 games, hopefully in due time, but most smaller gaming stores or retro gaming stores have them, some new stores might have them too because 2013 was the last year PS2 games were made and that's pretty recent, but most big name game stores don't have them though, but you can still order them online, you could get most of them for a fairly decent price on eBay or maybe Craigslist?
The best PS2 games that I played: -Silent Hill 2&3 -Metal Gear Solid 2&3 -Jak&Daxter -Ratchet&Clank: Going Commando -GTA San Andreas -Final Fantasy X I left Resident Evil 4 off, because it should count as a GameCube game.
My top 10 10: Sly 2 9: Jak 3 8: THPS 3 7: Crash Twinsanity 6: Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal 5: Resident Evil 4 4: Mega Man X8 3: SMT: Nocturne 2: Persona 4 1: Persona 3
My Top 10 PlayStation 2 video games in no order are: 1. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs 2. WWE SMACKDOWN! SHUT YOUR MOUTH! 3. MX vs. ATV Unleashed 4. Call Of Duty: Finest Hour 5. Medal Of Honor: Rising Sun 6. 1 god of war 2 mortal kombat armageddon 3 jet li : rise to honour 4 grand theft auto san andreas 5 spider-man 2 This is definitely the list ..... if you don't believe me search the ps2 games up

I'm waiting for AV cord and power supply. I haven't played my PS2 in years and found my Slim model, controller, and games. I pray it still works. Watching your channel for years now and your presentation of PS2 games has impacted me.. You did that also with the Vita, WII, WII U, . I watched your videos just outta boredom and nostalgia. I'm 50 and thank you my friend for inspiration. I'm now a better person , at Games anyway. Lol.
