After experiencing the college life for a couple years, I completely forgot that most of these were rules

#1 seems really ridiculous because when you gotta go you gotta go. You can't hold your pee and poo like that in classroom, that's harmful to your body to do that.

Here's the Worst No Cellphone Experience when I was in Middle School. It was AFTER SCHOOL! This one student was talking on his phone, this one teacher was walking up behind him and just took his phone from him. It was AFTER SCHOOL!!!

The worst was ****HOMEWORK****

I mean when you have to deal with 30 smart ass teenagers just leaving class whenever they want to "use the bathroom" you'd ban it to before and after class too. Not to be a stick in the mud but most of the things banned were banned bc kids kept taking advantage of them.

My school blocked Snapchat on the schools wifi, but all the students use a VPN to break that so we all still have access😂

#10 - sucks for girls who suffer from awful menstrual cramps #9 - Makes sense. Who wants gum stuck under their desk or chair? Yuck! #7 - I think they mean crazy hair colors. Even my work doesn't allow non-natural colored dyed hair. #6 - I don't think it's too silly. Try imagining you giving a report and you keep getting interrupted by someone's phone going off. #4 - It's more of just good manners to take a hat off indoors #3 - I like seating charts but then again I ave Autism so have a routine helps me feel comfortable. #2 - It's just plain messy. How would you like to come in the next period and have crumbs all over your desk?

*A dumb rule for us in middle school is that for that for the first 9 weeks of school, we aren’t allowed to use the bathroom more than 3 times each period. But 6th and 7th period are when I always have to use the bathroom. But my 3 times are already filled up for those periods :’(. If we go 4 times, we get in trouble. School these day’s are so stupid.* *Edit: I already got in trouble 2 times for this. Now, I might get an F on my report card for this. Imagine, failing 6th grade because we couldn’t use the bathroom??!! So stupid.*

The hat rule back in my Highschool was extremely bad. You wouldn’t just get in troubled blue for wearing a hat, if it was on your person whatsoever you’d be in trouble. There was no “Hey take your hat off” warnings, and they would often confiscate them and never give them back. One of our Deans was so fixated on the hat rule that he never bothered to do his job otherwise. I got in trouble one time for my Ps2 hat I was wearing wth the guy while I went up to him to get him to come stop a bully from beating a kid! He wouldn’t budge unless I have him my fucking hat, and after I did he just went to his office and never came back. This Was my Freshman year, he was fired roughly near the end of my Sophomore year.

At my school we have hall passes that we’re supposed to take with us whenever we use the bathroom, and one teacher I have is super strict about it. If the passes have gone missing and she has no passes, we can’t use the bathroom during her class. But the saddest and dumbest part of this whole thing is that she’s RIGHT NEXT TO THE BATHROOM.

As a high school janitor, i would love to see chewing gum banned. It is the worst thing to clean up. It sucks when you go to move a piece of furniture and put your hand on a fresh gooey gob of gum. Its impossible to remove from carpet as well.

In my school, you're only allowed ear studs and nothing more. We have to follow very strict uniform. For example, I live in the UK, and we have to wear school uniforms that make us look like kids from Harry Potter. We have to wear ties, and we have to have 5 stripes or more or we get sent home and a detention that afternoon.

I like the idea that TJ proposed just recently in one of his videos: Stupid school rules exist so that students can break them and feel rebellious, instead of, if they didn't exist then students might feel compelled to rebel against more important things, such as the stupidity of the school system itself. Or some such.

I messed with teachers and got out of certain situations with humming the sound of a cell phone ringing on vibrate. One of the few times I was glad I didn't have a phone until 16. And glad to have seen Police Academy for the first time and knew who Michael Winslow was.

When I was in high school cell phones weren't even invented yet. Yeah, I'm that old.

I think that the seating chart rule is fine. It makes perfect sense to have the misbehaving students in front so they can be closely monitored by the teacher or to have all the people that are always talking separated so they're not always talking and distracting the other students.

I remember seeing a scientific study that homework doesn’t actually really helps students at all before age 12, and even in middle school and high school they are getting way too much of it. I graduated about four years ago, and I can entirely agree with that.

My guess with hats is that some hats can be big. Baseball hats, berrets, beanies, flat/short hats is one thing... but then you get cowboy hats, tallhats, etc. But really, it is a sinple solution: tell the smartass wearing a wizard hat to take it off cause they are blocking the kids’ view

I think a lot of these rules exist for these age groups because teachers will be blamed for the child's incompetence. "Why are students doing bad in your class?" Because kids are on their phones all the time, they spend most of class time in the hallways claiming to use the bathroom, and sitting next to their friends talking. So the parents complain to the teachers to make sure their child doesn't do these things by following rules. But when these rules don't apply to their classmates, the troubled child complains. Then when the rules applied to everyone else, students will complain about them. The parents hate that the teacher isn't letting their baby use the bathroom or took away their phone during class. It's a vicious cycle.

One time, the teacher took away everyone's phones during a test including mine. I struggled during the test so I stayed for 30 minutes after school, my mom was mad because I didn't let her know that I was staying after school and was waiting outside, and I told her I couldn't text her because the teacher took our phones

Every school has a rule that goes like... “NO PHONES...” And yet they still use THEIR OWN PHONES⁉️ And yet...I’d say the phone rules are just idiotic if you tell me about it!!!!

My school lets us use our phones, wear hat if it is school spirit, we can set were we want, some teachers let us eat in class, and we can go to the restroom.

At my school even if your not on your phone and it just falls on the floor or they see it in your pocket they will take it until the end of the day

My gym teacher told me that the no hats rule is mainly for baseball hats because if someone were to fall while wearing one the metal part of the little button on top could injure someones skull.

I personally liked seating charts.. I was unpopular and bullied, so when there wasn't a chart and I tried to sit down somewhere, often I got "ew, you're not sitting here." And trying to find a seat was always awkward for me. At least with a seating chart, you know exactly where you're going to sit each time

With all the shootings in schools... everywhere actually..I don't think there should be a no cell phone in schools...off maybe..but our babies need to have a cell phone in school. Wow this is stupid most of the rules are there for a reason, fine some of these can get some regulations like going to the bathroom one person at a time and not delaying more than 5 minutes unless you're sick, and eating little stuff like a candy or an energy bar, use cellphone just for research and emergency calls, throw gums at the trash can etc.

In Australia, at least in summer, children are not allowed to be outside in the playground unless they are wearing a hat (usually either a legionnaires hat or a wide brim hat)

I fully agree with ALL of these: 10. If you're in pain, you obviously need relief, and if the school can't give you any, you should be able to have your own. Concentrating on work when you're in pain can be a lot harder than it needs to be, and saying no to this would be like telling a student not to take other medications which they may need too, like for asthma. 9. I used to eat chewing gum, but I don't anymore. It's an easy way to freshen you breath and it's been proven that it helps to prevent overeating. Even worse is when the teachers have chewing gum, but they won't let you have any. I'm too familiar with the gross gum under the desk situation as well. 8. There's nothing wrong whatsoever with someone having a piercing if they want to have one. It's understandable to not wear anything that's dangling in case they get caught, but surely there's nothing wrong with someone wearing studs? 7. A person's hair color, length or style, has NO effect on their education AT ALL! Saying someone should have a haircut is totally out of order too, as cutting someone's hair without their consent is actually a form of assault! 6. Having a mobile phone/cellphone is VERY useful in an emergency if you need to ring someone for help - like a parent or guardian - in particular if you can't get to one in school for some reason e.g. if the office is locked, or you've forgotten the number but it's in your mobile. As long as it's not out in class, there's no problem with having it with you. 5. As long as it's not in class time, there's nothing wrong with going online to RU-vid, Twitter or Facebook, or e-mails for a bit to check updates or for messages. As for free time, that's actually a very good point. 4. There's nothing wrong with anyone wearing a hat. They're a great way to accessorize an outfit, plus sometimes it's for benefits, like to keep you warm when it's cold (especially important when most body heat is lost through the head) or to shade your face in summer to prevent you from getting too hot, both of which are actually very dangerous health wise. 3. I always hated being told where I had to sit, because it was usually next to someone who I didn't get on with one little bit at all, and they would typically kick up a stink about it! I personally can't understand why the teachers can't let someone sit where they want to in order to avoid that ruckus. 2. Not being able to eat is unfair since food is one of the basic necessities in life. What about if someone woke up late and missed breakfast? What if someone is diabetic and needs to get their blood sugar level up? What if someone has been out of school having medical treatment done and they missed lunch? How about if someone has epilepsy and it's triggered by low blood sugar? If someone only has a short amount of time to eat, people can end up being forced to eat convenience foods which are less healthy and give people less long lasting energy which can disrupt the learning process! 1. The worst one of all. When you have to go to the loo, you have to go, and having access to a loo is a basic human right for anyone. Everyone can only hang on for so long, and hanging on can cause and worsen constipation and UTIs. Also, it can be really awkward if you have to change sanitary protection too.

True, but there are some loopholes in the rules (A good example is the social media on the school computer; if a teacher access it for 'educational purpose' or have some sort of proxy that allows you to bypass censorship. I've found that out during high school)

Actually, I asked a teacher in the seventh grade (which was eleven or so years ago) why there was a no hat rule, despite the fact that I do not wear hats. He explained that it had to do with the age-old notion that it was once considered impolite to wear a hat inside anywhere -- be it a private residence or fancy restaurant or concert -- and so it was seen as a sign of respect to the individuals around you to remove said hat. I can kind of understand this rule, because it not only teaches people manners, but it also shows that we cannot constantly have what we want 24/7.

How school is operated is an absolute joke and there are some very agreeable things on your list. But you have the notion that teachers are what’s the problem and that’s not the case, yes some teachers are very ridiculous but what the actual issue is the system behind it, the criteria in what we need to learn and the time we have to learn it is that’s ridiculous. Nothing ever of relevance is learned past middle school and the system teaches you to memorize and regurgitate useless information that’s easily accessible by our phones rather then actually understanding it because everything’s revolved around the grading aspect and just throwing out what you know to memorize some more useless shit for the next test

Requiring kids to wear school uniforms in some schools. Why? It’s school! Not a fucking wedding or a funeral!

At my old highschool cough drops counted as over the counter drugs and were banned. You also couldn't bring in any prescription medicine that you actually needed, like say an inhaler for asthma, to the nurse. They wouldn't accept it from anyone, but your parent or guardian. If you were caught with your medicine on you, you could get in trouble.
