Back in 1981, I was 14 years old, I was at my LCS with my mother. The clerk showed me 3 very fine / near mint copies of Amazing Spider-man #1 for sale for 75 dollars each. My mother couldn't afford to buy me a copy. I'll never forget that day.
I'm noticing ASM #124 really moving the needle lately. Tonight, I witnessed a CGC 8.5 White Pages go for $560, and a CGC 8.0 Off-White sell for $600 15 minutes later... Must be the year of the Man-Wolf...
Great list from a ton of books to choose from. ASM 31 is a book I feel is undervalued compared to other keys from that era. It’s also a more important key than most 1st villain appearances to me.
Yes, I agree...ASM #31 has tremendous room for growth with the incredible popularity of Gwen all over the various Marvel worlds. Plus Harry Osborn is still a big deal too. First appearance of both plus Prof Warren.
It’s a short 10 list but def soo soo many to choose from the ASM keys as any major villian key from 2-20 then 50 to 129 are the foundation on ASM Rogues. It is without a doubt one of the best ones to ever sink your money into and also Batman ones.. Good picks Dave I agree on them all
I love youtube seeing these prices in 2024 is such a great research tool for understanding the ups and downs of the market because the market does not constantly move upward in general yes but some times there are bubbles there was a covid bubble and yes there was a time we could have gotten these for sticker price. Best advice I have seen is buy what you know buy what you like and chances are you will always be ahead in the end.
So many great Spider-Man comics to choose from. I just picked up a raw near mint ASM #337 for $4 today among other ASMs at one of my favorite LCS’s. Nowhere near the value of the books mentioned here, but a very cool cheap find with potential 😁. On a side note, I’m glad I found your channel. Over the last few months, you’ve become one of my favorite channels on RU-vid. Thanks for the consistent info and content! ✌️
Dope video man, and those new graphics look great! The numbers are easy to read and its very interesting to see the stock comparisons as well. Still adjusting to the new room background tho Haha. Miss the wood panels. 👍
Great list David, after that record sale af15 is jumping quickly. A 4.0 sold for 55k on heritage just yesterday, I’ve seen a 3.5 sell on ig for 48k before the record sale as well. I wish GPA tracked a bit more stuff. I only own one book on this list but it is indeed af15 at a 2.0, it’s an unbeatable book. Loving the new graphics, Keep up the great work !
Loving the new look, the in depth info was appreciated as always. My top 3 that maybe just missed the list would be #121, #238, and Annual #1. As for sleepers, Strange Tales #97 is the first appearance of "Uncle Ben and Aunt May", at least their look-alikes. Unlike the Spider-Man reverse-prototype issue Journey Into Mystery #73, which barely relates to Spider-Man ( a spider gets exposed to radiation and grows to human size ), you can draw a straight line from the Strange Tales #97 to the characters that appeared in AF 15. There are only 9 copies on the CGC census graded 8.5 or higher, with none over a lone 9.2.
Good list. Sure it was tough to do. Pretty sure can make another list of the ones that did not make the cut. As for graphics, agree it looks great. Great job.
Nice little video you just made there, very informative, being a spider-man collector myself i apreciate this. Perhaps issue 238 as some room to go up in the future also.
Man... that Fantastic Four bullying Spiderman was a crazy story line... I respect it!!! What issue was that again!?!?!lmao. Awesome info and thank you for comparing our hobby with an actual investment strategy. Nerds nerding out!!!
Awesome video, thanks for the info. What do you think about the Superior Spider-Man series? I thought it was one of the best Spidey stories in recent memories! Also, liked the new graphics as well.
As a graphic designer (for over 20 years), I like the graphics for sure. Bravo to the artist. As for the Spider-Man books, they're all solid choices. Enough so that I'm re-thinking my decision to pass on a couple of Black Cat issues I found over the weekend. (D'oh!)
@@Utubesanarc I found a couple of raw ASM 194 copies at a local comic shop. They were priced appropriately, but I was already a few hundred bucks in from other purchases. I had one of them in my hand for a minute but decided against both in the end. I kind of wish I had picked them up!
Just got a 9.8 of Amazing Spider-Man #252 a few weeks ago! But that's the only one I have on this list. Def on the hunt for a Ultimate Fallout #4 9.8 for a reasonable price now...
I’ve only started making money off of books in the last year, and it’s been a good year for it bc the market has been so hot. But it’s hard to get away from moderns. I’ve made some decent money, but I still find myself investing in and flipping more moderns bc of the low buy in, but I’d love to save up and start investing in older keys. I say all of this bc I’d love for you to share a top 10 books to invest in under $1000 or under $500. You did a top 10 to invest in under $10,000, but I’m still a ways away from that
Dave, i have to stop buying comics for awhile cause i have spend a lot this year about 4k which is alot for me but i got some awesome books, some keys, low print runs and rare variants but i will start back collecting cause my next book is going to be X-Men#1 and i think for 7k i can get a decent copy.
Hi Dave. Nice looking presentation. Especially on a Sunday. I noticed an ASM 305 for auction on eBay. Todd McFarlane. It was a 9.8 with off white to white pages. How does that make sense? I thought all 9.8 were white pages. Thanks for the video.
Yes, but when you sell a stock from the S&P, you don't have to pay an auction house like Heritage a percentage, and the IRS only takes 15 percent of the profit. That doesn't mean AAPL or AMZN will go up that much in the next 10 years, admittedly.
I remember in 2013 when a ASM 129 I paid 650 for a Vf nm and came back 7.5 from tomorrow’s treasures the dude couldn’t grade a book if his life depended on it..
I would love to have a copy of AF15, but the price is already so high that it might not have room to go up another 600 or 700 percent anytime soon. Many of the other comics on this list have had a better ROI.
Yes but the AF 15 also is a good safe investment. It’s not always about ROi because a penny stock can get you better returns. But they are soooo risky it’s not worth it.
Rob, look for CGC-"graded" pages of AF 15, usually an NG grade. Those are great values and will only go up as a full copy of AF 15 becomes unaffordable.
Anyone know what an Amazing Fantasy 15 with NO COVER is worth?Cant seem to find any info.I know the pages graded are selling on ebay, but cant find anything on the actual book with no cover.
The stocks comparison is useless because you can buy thousands of stocks and they go up massively, try buying even five of these top tier comics , it's a poor comparison.
I'm just comparing dollar to dollar....yes some of these stocks are only 1-2k to buy in, but if you put 50k in Apple or 50k in these comics then you can see which goes up more
@@ComicBookInvestments Oh that makes sense yeah , plus collecting comics is way more fun and the returns are pretty much a guarantee over time. I just started collecting again and love the hunt!
99% of the population can´t afford to invest at least 20K for a comic book.Think twice before posting Amazing Fantasy 15 as the # 1 investment book. It shouldn't even be in the top 10 for that reason.
