Tell me about it. The scene in Empire after Vader and Luke's fight when Vader is storming past the troopers and other Imperials, I always hear in my head the simple one line "Bring my shuttle." The curt way that line was delivered encapsulated all of Vader's frustration and irritation at that moment, but all anyone seems to remember is the special edition version where he sounds like he's asking someone to bring his limo around so he can present himself to the photographers on the red carpet. "Alert MY star destroyer to prepare for MY arrival, whereas I have a ham dinner with mayonnaise waiting for me at my mansion."

One other Mandela effect to point out with Star Wars is that many people believe that episode 4 was always seen in theaters with the title Episode IV A New Hope initially it was just titled Star Wars. It wasn't until after it's release was it changed to Episode IV as George Lucas wasn't sure he would make a sequel to Star Wars. But after the movie was a blockbuster hit he decided to go ahead and make The Empire Strikes Back episode V.

One of the biggest Star Wars Mandela effects is the ‘Biggs/Luke scene on Tatooine’ being in SW EP4. I was shocked this wasn’t on the list. Many people swear when they saw SW in theaters in 1977 their copy of the film included a scene of Luke and Biggs together on Tatooine in the beginning before Luke gets the droids or meets Ben Kenobi. Most people believe this Mandela Effect happened because this scene and a photo from the scene are in the ‘Star Wars Storybook’ that came out at the same time as the movie.

I don't remember ever seeing those scenes in the theater, because they were never there, but do appear in the comic book adaption and novelization, which were based on the original script. The movie went through some major re-edits and sequencing so those early adaptions deviate a bit from what was eventually released in 1977.

@digidv85
@digidv85 2 года назад
As a kid who was introduced to Star Wars and fell in love with the franchise immediately, my only regret was not being alive during its premiere and indulge with the mass insanity as it started. Born in 84, where the first film came out in 77. Watching the original trilogy on VHS, I always knew Vader said: ''No, I am your father'' in Episode 5. Where ''Luke'' was ever brought up into the iconic phrase/moment I haven't a clue. Oddly enough, The Simpsons episode ''Round Springfield'' which was from Season 6, Episode 22 had a cloud version of Vader misquoting the line as ''Luke, I am your father'' as well. I mean sure, there are many mistakes I've seen over the years. What really caught me off guard in regards to A New Hope, which isn't widely known by the way is that one of the X-Wings during the Battle of Yavin is designated as Red 6. Already doing deep dives back in the 90's, the pilot of Red 6 was named Jek Porkins. Biggs even refers to him by his last name before they shoot down a Tower together. Red 6 as far as I know was the first fatality the Rebels suffered during the fight. 30 starfighters took part in the raid as told by the Warrant Officer addressing Vader. The trading card game states that Red 6 skipped its last mechanic inspection before being flown out, which is what caused the craft to explode; not by the turbolasers as a casual fan might think. Yet when Luke is being chased by a Tie Fighter later on, someone on the radio clearly says: ''Red 6, can you see Red 5?'' Despite the fact Red 6 was already taken out. Bizarrely enough, someone actually responds with: ''There's a heavy fire zone.'' Even if you want to make the case, whoever answered with that line was meant to be another pilot, it still makes no sense why the first person would reach out to Red 6 in the first place. Then when Luke lands back on the moon after the fight, Leia greets him by saying his name loud and in an ecstatic fashion. Luke responds with what appears to be him saying ''Carrie'' although the response is somewhat audibly obscure. Carrie Fisher obviously being the late actress portraying Leia. I believe Mark Hamill himself later admitted he has no recollection of what he said in that scene. It just seems weird that his exclamation was left that way in the final cut of 77 and 97. And to close, I don't think it's widely known that Ewan McGregor who played Obi-Wan in the prequal trilogy is IRL the nephew of Denis Lawson who played Wedge Antilles in the original trilogy. Now you know. Lawson meanwhile, leant his voice to the video games Rogue Squadron 2 on GameCube and Star Wars: Squadrons for his character, if you weren't aware. He also had a cameo in Episode 9. He insists he willingly turned down a cameo in Episode 3 but was misquoted on Episode 7, saying a scheduling conflict interfered and would've done so otherwise.

The pilot who says "there's a heavy fire zone on this side," sounds like Denis Lawson (Wedge.) As far as mistakes in the battle, there is another. When the Y wings run the trench, Gold Five says,"This is Gold Five, Lost Tyree, lost Dutch." Red leader responds "I copy Gold Leader," instead of "Gold Five." It can be attributed to the wildness of battle, but it is a mistake, either way." Also at one point Luke says, "Blast it, Biggs where are you?" Then Wedge swoops in and saves him. One edit says, "Blast it Biggs..." And in another edit he says "Blast it, Wedge."
@digidv85
@digidv85 2 года назад
@@rumblehat4357 The thing with Gold 5 suddenly being referred to as Gold Leader is an actual concept from the flight simulator games. In Tie Fighter, you play as Alpha 2 in one mission. It's scripted so that Alpha 1, your flight leader is taken out in the first dogfight. You then receive an audible message from another wingman that you're now the new designated leader of the Alpha squad. So if you die, Alpha 3 takes the reigns, then 4 and so on. I'll also throw in that Gold 5 calls Gold Leader "Hutch" in the movie but his official Star Wars card lists his name as "Dutch." Even weirder, the card of Wedge Antilles shows not Denis Lawson on it, but the pilot standing by Luke during the briefing who claimed "That's impossible, even for a computer." Which makes me wonder if Lawton's casting was from changing the actor, or the card being incorrect. To add more likelihood to the latter, Grand Moff Tarkin's card states "He planned on using the Death Star against the Emperor." Something I've never seen or heard of referenced in any other outlet. Unless it was a reveal during Rogue One, since I never got around to seeing that. I know it's sacrilege to not keep up with everything after so long, especially being a mega fan of the franchise. No excuse.

Not sure if this qualifies as a Mandela effect but for many years I swore I saw Leia spit on Vader's mask and it sizzles before he wipes it away. I can see that scene so clearly in my memories. However, it was eventually brought to my attention that no, that scene was never filmed but it was in the 1977 novelisation, by Alan Dean Foster. “She succeeded in reaching him with her spit, which hissed against still-hot battle armour. I swear, I never saw C-3PO's silver leg until episode 1 came out. I watched the original trilogy, but it was the 1996 theatrical re-releases that I started to take interest in the franchise. I just genuinely don't recall seeing a silver-colored leg.

A think a strong contributing factor is people and merchandise sometimes have the wrong prints. So as you grow up with it you believe it is the right way because you will see more toys and hear more quotes than ever watching the movies themselves.

For a while I had a "reverse Mandela" effect with Star Wars original trilogy. I first watched them at age 5 on VHS, which we kept for over a decade. I never saw any other version than those. Cut to age 17 when I decided to buy the OT Star Wars on DVD and discovered this whole new thing called the "Special Edition." EDIT: For those unaware, if you've ever seen Star Wars OT post-1997 you are watching the "Special Edition" that was released. No theatrical version exists after 1998 besides a very bad 2006 limited edition set that was taken from a 1993 Laserdisc copy. Many of the controversies of Star Wars -- "Han Shot First," bad CGI Jabba, that whole weird 3-minute musical, the ROTJ end music -- are all from Lucas' 1997 or 2004 versions. It was very odd growing up as a Star Wars fan, reading all of the Expanded Universe and playing all the games, then discovering this unholy version that everyone else had known for 12 years as the "Original Trilogy."

1. In the book version of the first movie, it is explicitly stated that Leia gave Chewbacca a medal also (but she did have to strain somewhat to get it on him). 2. STAR WARS DAY IS MAY 25TH! That was the date of the original movie's premiere. Calling 5/4 STAR WARS day is doing a bad Daffy Duck imitation. 3. Got to admit, I've screwed up the "No, I am your father" thing on many occasions. But I did know that Kenobi never said "May the force be with you" in those words. (Oh, and just to *really* go nuts: in the previously mentioned book version of the first movie, he says "Trust in The Force, Luke...and wait.")

Maybe the people saying Obi-Wan switched off his weapon is due to how his blue blade glows white and when held perfectly vertical against those white lights on the walls, the blade "disappears" (it's just hard to see), and some may just assume after lifting his saber up, he switched it off (off-camera) simply cos they could not see his blade. Just a theory.

OMG, at 3:29 look at the closed captions! That's EXACTLY what my 6- or 7-year-old self thought Ben said before I knew the line was "The Jundland Wastes are not to be travelled lightly". Looks like the autocaption AI misheard the line too. I always thought Ben said, "A gentleman wastes enough to be travelled, lightly" - which makes no sense, I know, but who knew anyone would be saying anything about Jundland Wastes? That's not something anyone expects. Also, later, I thought Luke asked Ben, "You fought in the colonial wars?" Colonial wars made sense to me as a child, as the U.S. was once a set of colonies and went to war against England for independence, for example. My ears would have never expected to hear anything about *clone wars* (what's that?).
