Nice collection! The Heljestrands are favorites too. That 24 is just brilliant for travelling and allows relatively fast shaves, as it is so nimble. For loose pin, try the soup spoon trick: Put a soup spoon on a table or a cutting board, with the convex side up. It will be your anvil. Use a second soup spoon as a hammer, hitting the pin's head with the convex side. Gently tap the pin about 5-10 times, then flip the razor and give 5-10 more taps. Try to tap while drawing a circle around the pin. Check the tightness. Rinse and repeat. As the force is very low, it is very controllable, and it is nearly impossible to hit the scales or bend the pins, but it is a surprisingly quick process.
Beautiful collection! I’m actually a blacksmith/knife maker so I’m pretty savvy with metallurgy/sharpening, but I’m completely new to the straight razor world. In your professional opinion what would be a great high quality one to dip my toes in? I’ll basically be just using it to edge my beard so fairly light duty. I’d love to have one that lasts a lifetime 😊
Really nice set of razors there Marion. I have also ordered a DD. Can't wait if I am honest. Once I have recieved it my next purchase will probably be a Koraat👍
I have one that would have been on this list, but it will be on its way to Sweden soon. I just need to finish this frameback up that is taking more work than I thought to take the chip out of edge. Then they will both be off
I want to display my razor collection like you did yours but I can’t figure out a way to mount it to the board. I don’t want to put something on it that will damage the material over time. How was yours done? I’m assuming you’re using a hanging display case?
You don’t hone your own razors? I’ve been only using traditional straights for about 8 months and after the first couple weeks I had to get me some stones and practice on some gold dollars, after I got my first one from Anthony Esposito. I had years of experience with Shavettes so making the switch to traditional wasn’t so bad. Nice collection man I like vintage as well. I only have 2 as of this moment. The Dubl Duck 🦆 🦆 special No. 1 and a J.A Henckel “Twin”
I’ve heard your name Thrown around the wet shaven community for many years and this is my first time watching one of your videos. Gotta say you don’t look like a barbarian 🤓
@@marionthebarbarian886 Thank you for answering. Set the pin? Yeah i looked everywhere and can’t find the washer. I’m not even sure when it fell out. My straight razor is a Boker Edelweiss and the ring that is missing is on the back side of the middle pin. there are 3 handle pins but i wonder if i could send it to be fixed by someone and if they would be able to make it match the look of the other ones.
@brodyberry6253 there are people who would accommodate. Razor Emporium possibly. Max Sprecher maybe John's Shave Shop on Etsy might. Try Razor Emporium first
