Armed forces are made up of land, sea and air forces. Naval forces are established for protection against threats coming from seas. So, what are the strongest naval forces in the world?

This top is based on the number of ships? So why is the UK ahead of France and India when it has far fewer ships and a navy that is not really as powerful as it was a few decades ago ? Its only advantage is to have two aircraft carriers. Even if it's useful, I have a hard time seeing how it can make a navy much more efficient than these two competitors with twice as many ships. (Especially since France has 3 Helicopters carriers). If someone can explain it to me, so that I can understand it better, thank you.

Naval power is generally equated by tonnage. The French have a lot of small craft, patrol boats etc. It looks good on paper to have more hardware but it is how effective it would be in a naval encounter.

one MAJOR difference between Chinese and American nuclear attack submarines is that, the Chinese nuclear submarine is loud and the American submarine can detect it. we Americans might consider giving the Republic of Korea and Japan one of our undetectables...

Add up any of the figures for any country on this list and it doesn't match the total number because they only list certain types of ships.

True, but that under counts the total because of so many support ships. These are not in the "official" count and are not "USS" ships, but "USNS" ships that are considered "auxiliary" vessels run by the Military Sealift Command and similar groups. An example is the fast command support ships, designated "AOE". There is one accompanying every Carrier Strike Group. There are about 130 of these ships not counted in this video. There are also several dozen ships in the "Ready Reserve Fleet."

After the MP committee. 14th Dec 2021 "We're going to need a bigger Navy," Obviously what's happening in Ukraine the Royal Navy does need new ships. And Aircraft carriers fully loaded. Hopefully now they can start building them sooner rather than later.

Wrong...china already has one 075 heli carrier on duty and another 7 coming along. The 055 cruisers are at least 8. Two are already in service, the Nanchang and the Lhasa....

A good video, but it missed out several classes of warship. For example, the Russian battlecruisers, which are considered the biggest surface combat ships in the world and the main threat to American carrier groups. In addition, there is American cruisers which are larger than destroyers. They provide a command platform, as well as possessing very large numbers of anti ship missiles. Plus two of the helicopter carriers of the Japanese Navy are being converted into true aircraft carriers.

Battlecruisers were retired after ww2, and they suck as they are big ass boats with big unreliable guns and very slow. It is a cruise missile paradise. Edit: ever thought why no one else uses it?

I believe that the strength of the Navy is entirely determined by its submarine capabilities and anti-submarine capabilities. Isn't the United States and Japan, which have excellent anti-submarine capabilities and submarines, stronger than China and Russia?

not true at all, submarines are much more vulnerable than you think, their good as long as there not detected, but if found can easily be targeted by things like anti- submarine warfare helicopters

These ships never served in the Royal Navy. They were offered to the Royal Australian Navy, but the deal fell through. They only served in US Navy before Taiwan bought them.

If only quantity was considered, China would be way ahead of the US and any other country. Also, not only quality and quantity, but also availability is also very important. How many of those ships are full operational. This is the official ranking from “Military Today”. Not many complaints about it.

Forgot to list cruisers. lIsted destroyers and smaller and listed amphibious ships and larger but no cruisers. Now in the commentary they mention Ticonderoga class cruiser...but funny enough they call these cruisers destroyers.
