You said that gligar was the first on the list that received an evolution in a later generation, but you forgot about golbat evolving into crobat from gen 2 onward.
Alexandar I see it as more of a trade-off and not an evolution since like u said it’s a got the same base stat total of 500, but a different spread and typing
This video was brought to you by the Eviolite, one of the best hold items introduced into the games. Below will be some of my thoughts on the featured Pokémon. 10) Gurdurr -While I prefer the look and power of Conkeldurr, I have seen Eviolite Gurdurr put in work in wifi battles. 9) Golbat -Prior to Gen 5, I didn't care much for Golbat, especially with having to encounter wild ones in later areas of the games. Crobat was a good, speedy Pokémon. I have seen people make Eviolite Golbat work. Fortunately for it, Leech Life got a buff. 8) Gligar -Prior to Gen 4, I didn't pay it any attention. The Sinnoh anime made me like it a bit more. Its evolution Gliscor helped out, too. The Eviolite made it better, especially if you ran the hidden ability Immunity. Gligar is alright in my book. 7) Scyther -I might honestly like Scyther as much as Scizor, perhaps a bit more. Thanks to the anime, I've perceived the two as having different personalities and battle styles. Scyther became pretty viable with the help of the Eviolite. 6) Sneasel -Prior to Gen 4 through 5 or 6, I didn't pay Sneasel any attention. With the introduction of gender differences and the evolution Weavile, I preferred the look of the male(original) over the female. The Eviolite and watching wifi battles from Gen 5-6 on RU-vid made me like Sneasel a bit more. I still wish that Sneasel and Weavile were gifted the abilities Technician and Tough Claws. 5) Piloswine -Prior to Gen 4-6, I didn't care for Piloswine. The introduction of Mamoswine made it moderately useful. The Eviolite and watching wifi battles made me notice its abilities, and not just because of Thick Fat. It's okay. 4) Doublade -It's a really good physical wall to have in-game before evolving it into Aegislash. I like this evolution line. 3) Porygon2 -Prior to Gen 4-5, I didn't care for Porygon2. Porygon-Z made it somewhat noticeable. The Eviolite made Porygon2 arguably more viable than its evolution. It's become a fairly popular Pokémon competitively since Gen 5. 2) Gothorita -I was not expecting this Pokémon on this list at all. I dislike this evolution line the most in terms of the execution of their designs. I will, however, acknowledge that Shadow Tag(introduced in Gen 5) along with Competitive(introduced in Gen 6, but is more viable on Gothitelle) make it worth a glance for those who like this Pokémon. 1) Chansey -Always a staple in the Pokémon Center. It was fine. Blissey made it better. However, in Gen 5, Chansey debatably became superior to Blissey. It's such a bulky cleric. Below will be a list of Pokémon that I thought could've been on this list. Ferroseed, Magmar, Electabuzz, Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle, Combusken, Marshtomp, Grotle, Monferno, Dragonair, Slowpoke(both variants), Servine, Braixen, Frogadier, Raboot, Thwackey, Torracat, Brionne, Dartrix, Nidorina, Nidorino, Gabite, Metang, Pupitar, Shelgon, Zweilous, Sliggoo, Hakamo-o, Pineco, Clefairy, Gloom, Growlithe, Poliwhirl, Kadabra, Haunter, Onix, Tentacool, Shellder, Magneton, Grimer(both variants), Tangela, Rhydon, Koffing, Seadra, Lickitung, Galarian Mr. Mime, Galarian Linoone, Galarian Farfetch'd, Omanyte, Lileep, Munchlax, Togetic, Misdreavus, Murkrow, Corvisquire, Fletchinder, Flaaffy, Marill, Wynaut, Aipom, Wooper, Galarian Corsola, Mantyke, Remoraid, Kirlia, Shroomish, Vigoroth, Lombre, Nuzleaf, Nosepass, Lairon, Roselia, Numel, Swablu, Cacnea, Vibrava, Dusclops, Sealeo, Clamperl, Luxio, Staravia, Pidgeotto, Shellos, Riolu, Bronzor, Hippopotas, Boldore, Swadloon, Whirlipede, Cottonee, Krokorok, Darumaka(both variants), Dwebble, Scraggy, Yamask(both variants), Minccino, Shelmet, Karrablast, Duosion, Lampent, Foongus, Frillish, Fraxure, Vullaby, Larvesta, Floette, Spritzee, Swirlix, Inkay, Phantump, Pumpkaboo, Charjabug, Mareanie, Mudbray, Dewpider, Sandygast, Morelull, Dottler, Carkol, Hattrem, Morgrem, Silicobra, Sizzlipede, and Poipole. Honorable mentions go to: Bayleef, Grovyle, Pikachu, Eevee, Drakloak, Quilladin, Machoke, Sandshrew(both variants), Vulpix(both variants), Metapod, Kakuna, Silcoon, Cascoon, Exeggcute, Feebas, Magikarp, Wimpod, Combee, Salandit, Herdier, Vanillish, Eelektrik, Klang, Rufflet, Spewpa, Bergmite, Rockruff, Crabrawler, Yamper, Applin, Gossifleur, Skiploom, Wooloo, Clobbopus, Snom, and Meowth(each variant, but more so Kantonian Meowth that have the ability to Gigantamax)
Githitelle is actually a good trick room setter and if you didn't know but gothitelle was banned in , i guess 2015-19 vgc(I don't remember it well) due to shadow tag( Pretty sure it's similar to arena trap). Hardly anyone uses gothitelle for offense but most people run taunt hypnosis and trick room set on it.
Can you do a best team of 4X weaknesses? (Just a team of Pokémon that have 4X weakness like swampert lol, I feel like that would be unique and harder to make)
Some of the Mons with 4× weakness have only that precise weakness such as Swampert or Scizor, Ferrothorn has only its 4x Fire weakness and a 2x Fighting weakness and is a defensive behemoth, you see it's not that hard to make a team IMO I already have half a team without thinking too much about it
Actually, it does. Its HP is trash. It's more vulnerable to being worn down so it's not the impenetrable wall it seems. It's certainly better than its evolution Dusknoir but it's not really list-worthy without proper recovery or offensive presence. It's similar to the situation Shuckle is in defensively only no where near as bad.
Before Mystic: Golbat! Later Mystic: Gligar is the first Pokèmon that got an evolution in a later generation on this list. Me: Golbat is generation 1 and Crobat is generation 2.
They're basically mini-versions of their evolved forms. In Magneton's case, it also has the Speed advantage over its evolved form and would be the only reason you'd ever use it over Magnezone in a metagame where both are allowed. In which case, Magneton would be holding a Choice Scarf.
@@albanskigangster Probably could do some damage against frail offensive teams. It might struggle against other Eviolite stuff without any boost to its attack though. There's also Swords Dance or Double Dance. The latter providing a little more boosting versatility at the cost of type coverage though its STABs already cover a lot so not the worst.
@@ShiningJudgment666 the incredible defenses boosted by eviolite offset the poor hp, it gets access to pain split, and it has reliable damage output with nightshade. But I do understand why people don’t think Dusclops is all that good if they don’t understand, care about or play VGC. Dusclops is pretty much a doubles exclusive Pokémon.
Makes more sense. It'll at least survive a hit to set up Trick Room or whatever other shenanigans it wants to pull off. I wouldn't consider Pain Split to be proper recovery though it's certainly better than nothing. In a pinch, it won't really save you all the time like Recover and the like could. Night Shade is also fixed damage and ironically what really cuts through its bulk coming from something else as it's 3HKO'd.
@@ShiningJudgment666 glad I could help you understand a bit more about why it’s so good in VGC. If you’re looking for a good trick room setter with recover though, might I suggest Porygon 2?
Gurdurr line can use Rock Slide/ Stone Edge to counterattack Flying types. Golbat also uses Leech Life against Psychic types plus my favorite move it uses is Air Slash. I expected Scyther in the list, yet it's also better to use X Scissors. I knew Sneasel is better to use Ice Shard. Doublade does sound great by high Defense. An honorable mention I wish would be in the list Rhydon, the very first Pokemon that was designed
For anyone wondering why the heck Mystic said that Gligar was the first pokemon on the list to gain an evolution in the next gen at 2:56 even though Golbat gets Crobat in a later gen, keep in mind that Gligar was a single stage pokemon FIRST when it made its debut while Golbat was the final stage of Zubat when they both debuted in generation 1. Getting an evolution in a later generation is not the same as getting an evolution in a later generation when you’re already part of an evolution line. If Mystic said that Gligar was the second pokemon on his list to get that treatment, then it wouldn’t make sense because then it would mean the previous list would have to include Zubat pre Crobat debut (maybe not, but I’m speculating here) and the lack of Zubat on there would make no sense since before Crobat, Golbat WAS the final evolution for Zubat. Meanwhile, Gligar made its debut as a single stage pokemon before it was given an evolution later on, so what he meant by Gligar being the first on his list to gain an evolution later on was that because Golbat itself is an evo of Zubat in that context and Gligar had no evos of any type at the time, Gligar is the first single stage pokemon to get an evolution in a later gen. Now can we please stop commenting that Golbat did that first? Golbat did that first, but it was Zubat’s evolved form first before
He specifically meant Dual Wingbeat, which is normally 40 base power but hits twice. So with technician that would be 60 base power hitting twice, which is 120
Hey ,Mystic you made this list from Pokemons banned from Smogon's Gen7 Not-Fully Evolved Metagame ;right . With the list consisting of : Chansey Doublade Gligar Golbat Gurdurr Magneton Piloswine Porygon2 Rhydon Scyther Sneasel Type : Null and Vigoroth Right?
Chansey has the rare distinction of being better than its evolution in most ways with Eviolite. Blissey has a "better" SpA and can use either Leftovers or Heavy Duty Boots but that is about it. Shoot in Sun and Moon, Chansey was in OU, and Blissey in UU making it the only Pokemon where it was in a higher tier than its evolution.
@@ShiningJudgment666 I wish Weepinbell had a better base stat total. 390 isn’t good but whirlipede has a base stat total of 360 and I loved it when battling with it.
It's nice seeing not fully evolved Pokémon some attention, cause many people including me doesn't really care about them, except for strong & cool ones like Dusclops and Scyther
My favorite mixed wall is Dusclops with full EV investment in defense and spc defense. Pair him with trick room/screens and he's about impossible to ko. I run pain split, night shade, will o wisp and trick room. He pair's good with Kelfkei as the screen setter with the heavy hitters of your choice in the rear. A solid combo that got me far in the battle tree. Dusclops takes a surprising number of ko's.
Chansey is no joke, for sure! If people want to learn more (or still don't believe it), False Swipe Gaming's video on Chansey/Blissey is OVER AN HOUR LONG! It's definitely worth a watch after this!
Tangela is, in my opinion, potentially one of the best. With 252 EVs+Calm nature it has 101 Special Defence, 107 HP with 252 EVs and 131 Defence with 4 EVs (the usual set I use). This becomes 151 Special Defence (same as Zamazenta) and 204 Defence, once again about the same as Zamazenta after its boost from switching in. The only problem with this is a lack of recovery, or so you’d think. It has the hidden ability Regenerator, so it’s easy to get a ton of HP back by just switching it out. That, or use Giga Drain. It has a really good base 100 Special Attack stat (120 with 0 EV investment but 31 IVs) so can fire off Giga Drain, and throw Leech Seed to drain all of their HP. That’s _only_ singles. In doubles you have a brilliant option for redirection, even better than the likes of overused Amoongus. It has much higher Defence and Special Defence than most other redirectors. The only small problem with this is it has no recovery, unlike others. Once again, it has the capability to just switch out to set up Leech Seed to keep farming the opponents HP.
I am pretty sure that Rhydon deserved a spot on this list. Previous from the introduction of Rhyperior it was considered a really decent choice and it has even earned a spot in champions's teams. And with the eviolite it might be able to surpass Rhyperior
Radical red remastered because Typhlosian doesn’t get eruption until level 100 meaning it’s not that useful against the Elite 4. Magmortar gets mega launcher as its new hidden ability meaning it’s a good option.
@@ShiningJudgment666 its low hp actually makes its recovery option, pain split, more effective as it takes more hp from the opponent, and when fully invested in hp with the eviolite bolstering it's amazing defenses it is extremely bulky. This thing can live a banded wicked blow from urshifu (it's a roll but still has a chance to live). I'm just saying there's a reason dusclops is a phenomenal support pokemon (one of the best in doubles) and definitely deserves a spot on this list above some of the picks made imo.
Quick question with chansey, I noticed with the GEN 1 stats that you showed It’s special defense and special attack we’re both very high, but then I noticed in a liter clip on a future generation it’s stats change to where the special attack was much lower, why did they change it?
Hey Mystic! Why not rank all of the pokemon spin off games like Colosseum and Mystery dungeon from best to worst according to you next? It seems fun.....
Missing out mons with actual tournament finish: Dusclops, Clefairy, Torracat.... And I'd say objectively probably P2 will be no 1 based on finishes alone, as Chansey's gimmick gets some counter with 100% physical accuracy Z-Moves and Max Moves. Even Dusclops maybe is over Chansey.
Surprised Dusclops, Murkrow, and Clefairy weren’t on here. Dusclops never dies and is a great trick room user. Murkrow is an annoying little support Pokémon that can stick around longer than you would. And lastly clefairy is one of the best follow me support Pokémon in the format (Along with female indeedee and amoongus).
Speaking of the Gothitelle line, I nominate Gothitelle for the weakest Psychic types list. It may have been OU in gen 5, but that was because of shadow tag. And when that got banned, it fell out of favor. Then after that Gengar and Gardevoir returned and outclassed it. And it has been untiered in gen 6, 7, and 8. So Gothitelle has to be bad, right?
While you are right on the fact that Gothitelle is bad without shadow tag But the thing is that it’s bad *without shadow tag* with shadow tag it’s by technically an Ubers mon since it’s banned from OU and in Ubers Gothitelle is really good due to that so overall Gothitelle is one of the best psychic types due to again shadow tag
Scyther evolution is an evolution that doesn't increase the total base stat instead just increases defence and attack while reducing special defence and speed
Magneton is faster than its evolution but that's about it. It's soft on the special side due to low Special Defense and even moreso because of its low HP. Haunter is basically just Gengar lite.
We just going to leave Zweilous and Dusclops out. Hustle Outrage is not something to sleep on and Dusclops has proved its place above its evolution so many times now.
I know it's evolution is better, but since it's only about the strongest not fully evolved pokemons in general, I was waiting for Kadabra to show up somewhere...
The way you describe Gligar implies that Landorus Therian has six move slots or something. Also at 6:59 I don’t know what the 2 most strong offensive types are (as someone who doesn’t follow or play competitive). Just some suggestions to help with video clarity!
Correction. Banned because of Shadow Tag. At least originally in 3rd gen because like Wobbuffet, it caused endless battles because, at the time, Leftovers recovery outdid Struggle damage and recoil in a Struggle war between 2 Wobbuffets/Wynauts.
