I'm convinced that Randy Moss had an affect on the Dallas Cowboys taking Cee Dee Lamb in this recent draft. Jerry Jones saw Lamb still on the board, and while WR wasn't necessarily a need for them, Jones was like, "I will not make this mistake twice"
@Harry Engel No. He fell because it was a receiver loaded draft, so teams in the top half of the draft then picked other premium positions like OT and defense because they felt like they could get a quality receiver in round 2. Raiders and Denver picked Alabama guys. Then right there was Dallas and Cee Dee Lamb was not going past them. But absolutely the miss on the Randy Moss pick made Jerry not pass up on another explosive wide receiver that fell into his lap.
It may not be a direct reaction to whiffing on Randy Moss, but there is a reason we have the saying "History repeats for those that do not learn from it." Of course, ironically trying to make up for a screw up turns to undermine any progress--so just learn feom it and move on. You fucked up when you made Jimmy Johnson leave, Jerrah. Maybe just be an owner, not trying to be a GM too--you obviously are not qualified enough for that.
It’s perfect. Lions & Cowboys are A must on Thanksgiving I literally associate a nice Thanksgiving with waking up & watching some LiONS 🏈 Then that PrimeTime Game with 2 new teams is the perfect nightcap after a day of overindulgence of delicious foods, lol all day with family & 🏈 Perfect 👌
The fact they limited to him to 3 catches and he still gained massive amount yards shows how explosive and deadly he could be even in small increments. Randy Moss only caught 100 balls only twice in his career while his former teammate wes welker caught over 100 balls 5 times in those time he caught 110 plus 3 times and catching 120 plus 2 times. Randy's strength was catching touchdowns, stretching the field, and gaining yards. 98 and 07 Randy are the most prolific and deadly versions of him.
Yeah, but Wes welker (A very good WR) was never a constant threat of taking it to the house on every play. Plus Randy played with a dozen average QB's before Brady.
The Longley episode is very unique indeed. I believe this story goes beyond the NFL. A man who bounced around and never found a steady NFL career, Raising eyebrows from Cowboy nation on that amazing Thanksgiving comeback, had interesting conflicts with Staubach and later Fouts, no doubt. Tried to make it in Canada before returning to the Cardinals. The world needs to know more about this man and his story.
What was so demoralizing about the Leon Lett loss was that Dallas was coming off a 27-14 stinker to the Falcons, which, when coupled with their opening season pair of losses, dropped them to 7-4, a record everyone knew was beneath them. They weren't in danger of missing the playoffs with this record, but they had to wait 10 days (!) to erase the stink of the Miami defeat and probably needed to run the table to take the division. I had to go for a walk after Lett's debacle.
Thank you Isaac Green you are the freaking man I swear!!! You have uploaded the videos I requested cuz you are the best and are delivering for ur subscribers and bringing them joy in these hard times by uploading these top top 10 list!!
There should be a top 10 list with the best super bowl stories, this is mine 1. Giants shock the world (super bowl XLII) 2. Dolphins make a perfect season ( super bowl VII) 3. The bus stops in home (super bowl XL) 4. Joe Namath guarantee ( super bowl III) 5. Patriots won after 9/11 (super bowl XXXVI) 6. Falcons blew it ( super bowl LI) 7. Gruden beats his former team next year ( super bowl XXXVII) 8. New dinasty beats the old dinasty (super bowl XXX) 9. The backup QBs winning all 10. Harbaugh vs Harbaugh
One interesting note I just discovered after doing some digging. Of all the teams to play on Thanksgiving in the Super Bowl era, only 14 have played on Thanksgiving and played in the SB in the same season. Of the 14, only 6 have won the Super Bowl (every Cowboys championship team except 1977, 1969 Chiefs, 1973 Dolphins). And 1969 was the only time you had both eventual SB teams playing on Thanksgiving (Chiefs, Vikings; they didn't play each other on Thanksgiving btw).
It's the special day that Detroit & Dallas have Thanksgiving Day games in the NFL every 4th Thursday in November. Don't forget the alternative games as well.
2:14 The Bounty Bowl!* 6:46 Randy Moss destroys Dallas. 10:07 The first two Thanksgiving Day games. 14:37 Jason Garrett cooks the Packers. 17:33 The Thanksgiving Day Massacre! 21:37 OJ's record-breaking Thanksgiving Day Juice. 24:15 Jerome the Bus Bettis' coin toss debacle. 29:07 Bob Griese phins up the Cardinals. 34:01 It's Leon Lett!, NO!!! (You heard, Mr. Trumpy). 39:26 The Clint Longley game! *=The Bounty Bowl was replaced with the THANKSGIVING PRELUDE TO SUPER BOWL XLVII in the updated Turkey Day list.
Bears vs. Lions 1980. Bears were behind 2 TDs in 4th quarter, scored 2 TDs in last 3 minutes including the tying TD as time expired in regulation and *then* the winning TD on a 95 yard kickoff return.
Clint Longley? Is he related to Luc? Lol!! I remember the fun our local newscast had with the Dallas/Miami game, “...and the Cowboys ‘Lett’ one get away.”
Clint Longley’s story is quite unique and a little sad. Imagine the career he could’ve had if that game hadn’t gone to his head and he hadn’t punched Roger Staubach.
Everyone forgets he was once very well liked by the public. He starred as Norberg in the police comedy Naked Gun movies also he did sports announcing for monday night football for a time.
They later updated it to include the Ravens/49ers game in 2011 when Jim and John Harbaugh were coaching those teams. Another omission: The Butt Fumble.
@Harry Engel I remember when they were roasting the Bills for landing at the wrong airport on their way to play the Vikings, then Buffalo proceeded to stomp Minnesota and Allen trucked a dude 😂 it was kinda hilarious how that happened!
Dude... Thank You. I’ve always wondered why the heck they do that. Makes no sense. You don’t even have to stick around anymore even though of course you still want to see it but it would be much better to get that Awe moment when they reveal it properly after coming back from the last commercial. Also 1 thing I enjoy about watching the older replays on YT is no commercials. I can’t stand commercials. I’ll flip through the channels watching nothing @ all and then forgetting what I was watching all just to avoid the stupid commercials and most stations have FAR TOO MANY commercial breaks. TV 👎
The BEST two Thanksgiving games I've EVER seen where I ACTUALLY ENJOYED watching my Dallas Cowboys get beat SIMPLY because the games were THAT GOOD was in 1979 when the Oilers rallied to beat the Cowboys 30-24 and in 1987 when the Vikings beat the Cowboys 44-34.
I remember that 87 game like it was yesterday and it absolutely broke my heart. Dallas wins that game and they get the last wild card spot and a a winning record in the regular season. I watched the first half at my grandmother's house but my mom insisted we had to drive home at half time and I missed the entire second half, except for OT. In fact I flipped the TV on just as poor Danny White chucked a wounded duck down field on a scramble that got intercepted. I wasn't even mad at him because I knew it was because of the wrist injury from the previous year that never really healed properly. Then Minnesota scores a touchdown with their first set of downs and that was it. I was too young to realize it but that was truly the end of an era as Danny White would never start another game and Coach Landry would never be within reach of a playoff berth again. I felt so awful for both of them that day and it was the beginning of a long nightmare that didn't really end until 91 in Jimmy's third season as coach.
I know for a fact that even if this was remade today, this moment won’t be on this list. But 2019 Saints vs Falcons, Falcons recover 3 onside kicks in the same game. That will NEVER happen again.
This was NOT a Thanksgiving game but I DO remember a 1987 game between the Oilers and the Saints in which the Saints' placekicker Morten Andersen (#7) got CLOBBERED on a kickoff. Maybe the Oilers coach at the time Jerry Glanville put a bounty on Andersen.
Thanksgiving 1929. Ernie Nevers of the Chicago Cardinals scores six touchdowns and connects on four out of six extra points in a 40=6 win over the Bears. Still the NFL record for most points by one player in a single game.
@@isaacgreen3273 Neither one. Take away the Lions' and Cowboys' Thanksgiving traditions, and goodbye NFL football. Cowboys are no. 2 in America alongside the Lions. Dallas is right up there with Detroit in celebration of America's greatest holiday pastimes Thanksgiving and football. Let's keep these traditions!
Eh... Outside of Lions and Cowboys fans (and maybe some of the NFC North and East rivals), no one particularly likes having Detroit and Dallas on Thanksgiving - but also nobody really cares enough to stop it from happening. If the league saw a value in changing it up, they absolutely would - the NFL draft was a New York City staple since before the Super Bowl era (and before the Cowboys started playing Thanksgiving), but that tradition vanished when the owners realized how much money they could make auctioning the rights all around the country. They've already added a third primetime game since 2006. My idea would be to allow the Lions and Cowboys to keep playing on Thanksgiving ... BUT, they only get to be the home team IF they win the Thanksgiving game the prior year. If they lose, then they're playing away next season. That'll add some stakes to the game, and let some other teams get a shot at hosting. The tradition would be intact - we still get to watch the Lions and Cowboys on Thanksgiving. The tradition isn't about watching Ford Field and Jerry's World, after all. I think it would be fun. America's Team vs America, for the right to eat Thanksgiving turkey at home. Why should all the other teams be forced to spend Thanksgiving away from their families?
@@isaacgreen3273 What should happen is this. A. Detroit and Dallas should rotate. Even years are Dallas cuz they go 8 - 8. Odd years in Detroit cuz it is odd for them to win. In 2020 The game would be DC at Dallas. That would be 1:00 EST. The 4:25 game would be Baltimore at Pitt. then, the final nightcap should always have the SB Champ. Luckily this year we have a good game for KC during Thanksgiving week. KC at Tampa should be the final one at 8: 20. The following year should be Detroit at home at 1, another division game at 4:25, and a nightcap featuring the incumbent champs.
RGIII against Tono Romo and the Cowboys, that was a great Thanksgiving game. Too bad the Redskins destroyed RG3's career, I was hoping for more matchups like that.
As dark a time in Cowboy's history as almost any living fan can remember. Coach Landry's last 3 seasons and Jimmy's first season. There wasn't very much to cheer about for a good long while. Although we did manage to whip Washington's ass at least once every single one of those years except for 87.
Lions Cowboys is A must on Thanksgiving. 🦃 Lions need to step up but they need to step up all season not just on Thanksgiving but there’s 2 teams in an NFL Football Game. When The Lions are Winning you can’t get a better Thanksgiving Day Game. I associate The Lions & Thanksgiving. You can’t have Thanksgiving without The Lions and then The Cowboys. I do like the new 3rd Game that does have 2 new teams every yr. it’s a perfect finale to Thanksgiving Day. Lions early, wake up , watch The Lions, then about the time you start munching a lil bit midday you have the Cowboys and then for Dessert you have The PrimeTine Game to relax after all that food. It’s perfect 👌
No, it did not take "almost 30 years to break that record" of SImpson's 273 yard game. It took 1 year. Payton did it on November 20th, 1977 vs. the Vikings when he rushed for 275
The reason why the Cowboys are on every year is because the then St. Louis Cardinals were offered it and their first Thanksgiving game they were trounced 55-14 by Miami(a game that started a 12 game losing streak over 2 seasons) and they decided not to do the yearly thing.
This version was aired on Thanksgiving Day, 2011. Since the HarBowl happened *on* Thanksgiving Day, 2011, it didn't appear in this video. The HarBowl was added in a later version.
@@skimshady510 I'm sorry but the harbowl is overrated it was just a preview of the Superbowl a year later plus it only has significance because of the harbaugh brothers
That Cowboy 🤠 Dolphin 🐬 game in 1993 needs to be number one ☝️ Miami goes on a 5 game losing streak Dallas wins SBXXVIII against Buffalo (back to back titles)
This list consists of Lion wins, Packer losses. Dolphins going undefeated again, and the Cowboys winning with their backup QBs and losing with their starters.
Come on NFL & Ford Family we have to get The Lions Winning and being A perineal Winner amongst the top 5-11teams in The NFL every year. They are The Motor City , Motown USA 🇺🇸 Original Thanksgiving Day NFL 🏈 Team There’s nothing more USA 🇺🇸 and The Lions should be 1 of Thee Great Teams in The NFL every year. They represent something more. They are Americana. I mean you’re talking The Temptations, Marvin Gaye , Four Tops , Gladys Knight & The Pips , David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin , The Supremes , The Allen’s & The Underdogs , The Jackson 5, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross , etc. , etc. etc. List goes on & on. Then you have FORD , GM , Chrysler , Olds I mean come on. SuperBowl 🙏

Kevin Gogan, he has 3 Rings. Philadelphia just got there first 2 years ago. What took you so long?
They need to update this list with the butt fumble. Also, might be an unpopular opinion, but stop putting the same two teams on every year. Put on three marque games and let the fans enjoy.

I take issue with anybody that tries to hurt the place kicker because doing that doesn’t make you any more of a man but it does make you more of a punk. I didn’t even know the Bounty Bowl was on Thanksgiving and I’m not a Cowboys fan to begin with. I knew it was a regular season game between the Eagles and Cowboys but I didn’t know it was that deep in the season.
