The only down side is you can't look up levels, you can't upload levels, there's no Costume Mario, and all features are locked up in a mini game you HAVE to play if you want them all.

I use a lot of these methods and my levels still don't get enough love. I've tried every thing possible, but Panga, who makes levels so hard that they're virtually unbeatable and NOT fun gets so much recognition... he literally took the same time to make levels like me. I like creative levels, not levels that are unfair and impossible.

I made a lot of boss battle levels. For example, Link vs. Omega Bowser, Boss: Omega Bowser. Bowser Jr. took the Airship, boss: Bowser Jr. (you play as bowser), and Toad Must Save Mario, Boss: Kamek and Kamek's pet.

hey, another cool one: The Haunted Clowncart! Simply put a BOO RING, or boo circle, in a clowncart. That's literally it. When playing, the clowncart looks like it's moving on it's own, surrounded by boos. Even cooler, if you manage to jump through the boo ring and land in the clowncart, the boo's disband, and the clowncart is yours! This can make for a good haunted house miniboss!

Sherk Then it's no basic knowledge. It would be Basic Mario Maker knowledge if it would have been taught from the start, not through watching Let'sPlays. Besides, the Let'sPlays I watched hadn't something like "building Robots out of some parts" in it.

Actually quite ALOT of the stuff in this video and in the game is definitely "hidden". The game never explains that you can do stomps using Kuribo's Shoe (and it works with the normal green variant, too). Or that the shoe can do Yoshi's "air hang" jump if you give it wings. It doesnt tell you about what happens if you put a Boo in a Clown Car (and I'd **never** seen that before, as putting a Boo in a Clown Car doesnt entirely make sense by itself, so nobody tries it). Or there's the fact that Yoshi can eat basically any conceivable projectile and spit it back out... hammers, fireballs, wrenches, Bowser's flame... he can even pull fire from the flame jet things (and Yoshi's fire shots pierce walls). Or there's Magikoopas + wings: It causes them to fire winged magic shots, causing all transformed objects to also have wings. Or taking Lakitu, shaking him to knock him off his cloud, and putting the cloud in a block by itself as if it's a powerup; it'll come out when the block is hit and just float right above it, ready for Mario to grab. Nobody uses these things though because nobody seems to know about it. The game really should point out some of these things, but it never does. You have to actually run into a creative level by pure chance to see these if you're not using RU-vid to see them (and most players do not). And even then, most RU-vid videos of the game do not show most of these things. And even for those that do, you have to actually stumble upon those very specific videos to see them. Hell, the ONLY one of these things I'd seen on videos was the "make big robots" bit, and that's actually using a mechanic that the game DOES explain to you (stacking). The worst one though is "giant retro Mario", who has ALOT of special tricks. Nobody does THAT because some asshat at Nintendo decided to gate that item behind an Amiibo that few people have. The jerk.

Sherk Oh dear Sir, I didn't say that EVERYTHING was news to me. For example, I'm well aware of putting Bullet Bills on Spring Boards will make them jump. Despite that I highly doubt there are "infinit" possiblities, since this would mean an infinit amount of objects to stack together. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubts that it's very high but if you have a limited amount of things you can't combine them unlimited. Also, may I ask what a "bide" is? Neither the internets nor my knowledge of the language called "English" includes this word as a noune.

@Sherk .....If you dont even play Mario Maker, you're not exactly in a position to comment on how easy or not it is to know about this stuff. And no, RU-vid doesnt count. Mario Maker does not wave RU-vid links at people during any tutorial. Imagine someone, who has never made levels or anything like that before, trying to figure all this out *without* ever touching RU-vid even once. And all of this in a day and age where most people are too blasted LAZY to "experiment" with things in any game or program. .....Also if you think that was "TLDR", you probably shouldnt be on the internet, sir. The internet is mostly made of words, after all.

Misery It has internet connectivity, you just miss out on some SUPER KEY features I.e. uploading levels, or searching for a specific level. You can still download levels, but it's luck of the draw as far as if you'll find cool levels or not.

I could think of a top 10 Mario Maker ideas list that, unlike this one, is ACTUALLY interesting, since everyone knows everything on this one. We got midairs, Multicape, spring jumps, pow drops, ceiling bonks, inverted pipe entries, diagonal dropkicks, fire climbs, max speed flight, and spinfly tech, just to name a few

I'm surprised they didn't say anything about using the fire clown car with the boos. If you use a boo, it will charge up a shot that can break the brick blocks, freeze in place, then shoot straight forward. This makes for some great puzzles as well.

I knew all of this, I hate it when channels make videos with titles like this. Why do assume that I didn't know any of this, a better title would be '10 Mario Maker things you might not know' or '10 Mario Maker things you probably didn't know. I respect that this video is for people who maybe are new to the game or don't know all of the mechanics but don't just make a generalisation that nobody who before watching this didn't know any of the things you showcased. Most of the things in this video were for both the 3DS version and the Wii U version and the Wii U version has been out for at least a year - it came out in 2015, at the time of typing this its a couple of days away from 2017 - and I would think that most people would know most of this stuff. And yes, I know that some people can't get a game within the first few months of the release date but I got this game - the Wii U version - in early October and I knew all of this so don't go around expecting people not to know any of this despite the time it has been out. I'm not saying that the video is bad, it's quite good for beginners but try not to make such a generalisation. Thank you for reading my slightly long comment.

As a child, I drew my own Mario levels on paper and wished I could make them for real. Now, looking at the Mario Maker levels, I'm like "I could never make anything that creative or awesome, why even bother!" But, I'm gonna do it anyway. Wonder if I can find any of my old stuff.

I once made a level with a really fast ice block train and one single propeller mushroom. The track was unpredictable and long, and if you died, there was a checkpoint, but you were punished by not having the mushroom.

#0: alter the level musically. Sure, we've all seen automatic levels that bounce elements off of music blocks to create complex songs, but by using a few less conveyor belts and sound effects, well placed blocks can change the feel of the background music of a level, lightening up a castle stage with a few added chords, or add enough dissonance to lessen even the cheeriest Mario world course. Super Mario maker can pique curiosity with note blocks, and in some cases, perhaps even allow people to teach themselves about music theory

There's an interesting glitch in super mario maker, where if a donut block falls onto a cannon attached to a wall, it will rise up slightly.

Turn-based combat systems like in Undertale should at least have gotten an honorable mention, for sure! Undertale was one heck of a game in its prime, and seeing it return in Mario Maker would be a delight to its fans! 😁
