While it didn't get me riled up, Funimation cancelling the simaldub of "Interspecies Reviewers" did make me raise an eyebrow. Remember, this was the company that okayed anime like "Wanna Be the Strongest in the World" and "Keijo".

4Kids’s editing and rewriting of anime is what makes anime fans wake up in cold sweats. And what Netflix did to Death Note is what 4Kids did, but in the opposite direction. 4Kids wanted to make anime super American and kid-friendly. Netflix wanted Death Note super American and “mature”.

That's true that 4Kids wanted to make sure that anime should be appropriate for Western audience by removing some Japanese elements and inappropriate stuffs, but failed to realize that American immigrants in Japan or Japanese-American citizens exists.

Though some stuff got the ok for 4Kids I can name a few TMNT episodes that would be considered as not kid friendly like take “ Same as it never was” as an example also that one episode where Baxter Stockman gets a new body but then he starts deteriorating and breaking down showing veins and stuff. Just remembering those two episodes give me chills

When I heard they were dubbing it and putting it on Netflix I was so happy. Then I read about the changes that were made and I said ‘no thanks’.

Let’s just say, as Popular Pokémon Go is, that was just a Mobile game. The main series mostly have you battle and weaken the Pokémon to make capturing easier. Basically, you have to work for the Pokémon you’re capturing.

I like Goh, but battling to weaken to catch Pokemon is so much better. That’s why I was disappointed in Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee when I first played it. I like it, but if you don’t weaken it first like we’ve been doing for years, it’s not as much fun. Luckily the mainline games still has the weaken to catch aspect.

4kids dubs weren’t really that bad-Pokémon has some of the funniest scripts in the anime-it’s just they always went overboard with the censorship, especially with One Piece. That and having no idea how to handle an anime that was aimed for older audience was the combination that ultimately doomed the company.

Most of the 4Kids dubs don't make me mad personally, they were just following the guidelines for what is allowed on American TV. Making their dub of One Piece is one of the dumbest things I've seen any company do, considering the amount of censorship they had to make since One Piece is not a kids show at all unlike other shows they had the rights to.

It’s laughable the US rage over Netflix Evangelion dub. Here in Italy they did the same, but the dubbing was made by an infamous director who maimed almost all the dubbing for Studio Ghibli movies, and Eva one was butchered too. It was literally incomprehensible even to the voice actors. WE rose up, and got the dubbing done all over again with the same voices but a new director.

Fans weren’t pissed at Harmony Gold for their stranglehold on Robotech, fans were pissed off for their stranglehold on *MACROSS*. Big difference. They could have done whatever the hell with their Robotech license, we just didn’t want them blocking potential distribution of the Macross franchise.

I think Endless Eight should have been on here from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It killed what was once an immensely popular anime. Season 1 was huge! Not even the fantastic film that followed it could save it. It was incredibly indulgent, and I'm not sure why they felt the need to go with it for so long. They literally had new animation for every iteration. It was insane.

I remember watching that Death note live action with my sis neither of us even knew that much about death note. I knew the basic premise but she knew nothing it was only after when I saw the comparison video between his interaction with shinigami the first time in the movie versus the actual anime that I was like " *sigh* yeah they effed it up"

About Robotech, 2 of the 3 anime series that were stitched together by Harmony Gold for syndication in the West (Southern Cross and Mospeada) weren't even part of the Macross franchise despite being produced by more or less the same creative team. Just like how Beast King GoLion and Dairugger XV were stitched together to make Voltron by WEP years prior, the only things in common between the series were the themes and production team, they have 0 story connections whatsoever. These unrelated shows were made as ''sequels'' when Harmony Gold rewrote the scripts so each part that made Robotech is set in the same universe, only a generation after the previous one. Thankfully, that didn't cause a lot of headaches now when their original uncut versions were later re-dubbed and brought over to the West, with Harmony Gold losing the rights to the original Macross series.

@@SpikeTheWolf Harmony Gold used to own the licensing rights to the original Macross in the West, which prevented the other shows in that franchise from coming over stateside, but not anymore (thank GOD!) Robotech doesn't exist in Japan, it's a name HG gave to the syndication of Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada when all 3 of them were stitched together and rewritten to be part of the same continuity Southern Cross and Mospeada were unrelated plot wise to Macross other than they were made by the same production team and they share similar themes

I’m surprised that Yashahime wasn’t on this list. Considering that: 1.) Due to the new villain, Kirinmaru’s prophecy against Half Demons, Sesshomaru made this weird Hide and Seek plan involving having his and Inuyasha and Kagome’s respective Daughters hidden far away from their parents before sealing them away until further notice, so to speak! 2.) The revealed that the Towa and Setsuna’s mother was Sesshomaru’s Travel buddy, Rin. Basically a controversial Generation Gap!

Anyone else surprised that The Promised Neverland didn’t appear here ? Didn’t even get a mention Season two was pretty much destroyed by fans ( I understand why since the first season kept you on the edge of your seat but the second season was rushed it seems since the third season got canceled a few episodes into the second season so a lot got left out from the manga series.)

Gen 1-6 sucks as an anime and I grew up with it. People should read Pokemon Adventure and skip that trash fest of a constantly losing but cocky character.

1:44 to be fair this isn't entirely their fault. The original VAs were still allowed to audition, however Studio Khara did not want these folks this time around.

Why have I not heard of anyone against Anime characters representing at the Olympics? Sure those complaining about Astro Boy were justified in the midst of the pandemic, but many of my friends and I were glad by the sight of them representing like no other. Also with regards to the cast change in Pokémon, yeah I miss Veronica Taylor as well, and Sarah Natochenny started off rather bleak in her voicing Ash, but to this day works well in the role. I also think that compared to Veronica as Ash bantering with Gary in the first 2 regions, her young boy voice probably wouldn’t clash well with Paul in Sinnoh. But then Meowth’s change was inevitable, since his original voice actor passed away 2 years after the fact.

Despite the agreement between Harmony Gold and Big West, I feel sorry for West for not having other Macross series. But the damage has been done for a long time. Even the company holds the rights on Voltron, they acknowledge GoLion and Dairugger XV. Blame Tatsunoku

I can't believe that they didn't include Funimation's axing of Vic Mignogna. That event has had such a polarizing effect on the anime community. Now I know some people are going to say it's because Vic was accused of sexual misconduct, but no solid evidence was brought forward in that case. In fact, what evidence Funimation had brought forward was found to have been fabricated, yet the court battle STILL went in their favour. Sure, Vic didn't go to jail, but his career was pretty much ruined.

Personally when I think about the Death Note Netflix thing I feel like it could have worked if they didn't try to adapt the manga/anime so much, but instead do a prequel or sequel spin off. Just a thought.
