I would add Fatboy's death in EastEnders. Crushed in the boot of a car in a scrapyard. It's been years and still none of Albert Squares residents have worked out his there.
The teacher-student 'relationship' happens all the the time and it helped some people realise they were being manipulated. It didn't go too far it was needed
Hell it was a plot point in that bleak Riverdale nighttime soap or as I call it Riverfail. A show can be too much of a downer. A famous writer said, comedy relief is essential to good drama.
Angelothetankengine 17 it was a very long story but short version is long lost twins- sister becomes very ill and obsessed with her twin brother, falls in love with him, kidnaps him and tries to marry him on Christmas Day chained to a radiator. Oh and also turns out they had a child together without realising they were related
A few Hollyoaks ones 1) Breda locking Tony up in a farm like an animal. 2) Diane having an affair with her father-in-law Edward which is her husband Tony's dad
Also yes soaps do sometimes take things to far bit giant that the point of soaps. They're meant to show the extremes. The "inappropriate storylines" are there to raise awareness
I've always said it as Mia/ah it's weird that they changed the na e to sound as May/ah, over never ever heard it be pronounced that way until she was on emmerdale
I disagree with you putting the Emmerdale Aeroplane Crash in this clip it was by far the finest storyline in British soap history and was well received by the critics of the time and still well received to this day
I would add that whole shitstorm in Corrie where Tracy lied and pretended she had sex with poor Roy to pin her baby on him, ruining his life and Hayley's just to prove she could have any man she wanted.
Brendan is as about as far from a pantomime villain you can get for a soap. He’s one of the few complex and well written characters from Hollyoaks. Though I do think they took it to far when they showed Seamus about to assault Brendan before Cheryl shot him.
Any storyline from Hollyoaks should be on here, they're always taking things too far, killing off every character and dragging storylines on for too long
@@danielr02 no as most of those have been involved in a murder in some way. Also thats avery small number of people when there have been hundreds of cast members. The amount of murders and murderer's/ accomplices is totally disproportionate to any other soap. Now my poppet... go to sleep you have school tm 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Although EastEnders is the one I've ever watched and liked the most, in my opinion, it did go too far when they killed off Pauline Fowler. The fact that she was a favourite character of mine wasn't the reason, for I realise that I can't stop the writers from killing off their characters and in the end, it was Wendy Richard's choice to quit EastEnders, but it was in fact the way she died and the aftermath. Pauline didn't get a proper send off and the who-dunnit plot ruined it for us viewers.

Emmerdale's executive producer said (about the 1993 plane crash) that they would have created controversy no matter which day they aired it. Plus 30th December would be the last episode of Emmerdale to be aired in 1993.
As an American who just started watching emmerdale, I'm surprised it's the one most featured on this list. Also I was surprised how well made British soaps seem to be compared to American ones. Why is that?
@@georginacat7667 have a look at all the soaps in history, trust me theres a few that have lasted so much longer than 21 years so yes brookside ran for a relatively short time in comparison to them... id get your facts right on that

Tbh the storylines on Hollyoaks are so over the top and unrealistic. Currently there's Toby who was an "experiment," as a child and the whole thing is just so bizarre cuz what are the chances you'll encounter than in real life

I don't think the student teacher storyline was to far it happens a lot and people (kids included) needed to be educated on the things to look out for if they think there teacher or anyone in there school is being inappropriate
The helicopter crash was like something out of a road runner cartoon. The hollyoaks Alien episode was worse than the very worst Doctor who storyline ever.
04:48 the actor who played Brenden at least had a traumatic reaction to taking life - normally the characters can commit multiple murders and just get on with life. He was good showing conflict with his sexuality. I normally don't lean into soaps, but he played it well
People have no right to complain about content or storylines. I'm sure a lot of people liked those episodes too. With all the channels and streaming services. If you don't like something, then watch something else. Mind your bloody business and let people who like it, watch it. Geez I thought England was less tight assed than the states.

I disagree with the Jacob Maya storyline being on here. Male victims of grooming and sexual abuse at the hands of female predators is not talked about much and not taken seriously. It was necessary to show how wrong it is , i commend emmerdale for doing it
On coronation street, I thought Daniel went too far when he kissed bethany. I think Moira went a bit too far with this affair with Nate. I do agree with the teacher student relationship and Jacob had a crush on his teacher. That's just taking the word "teachers pet" to the next level.
If you're gonna ad Walker/Brendan to the list why choose the death scene? Honestly, seeing Walker go splat against the train, which we didn't actually see wasn't half as traumatizing as having to watch a close up of Walker's face as he kinda sorta let Brendan force himself on him even though he not only hated Brendan but also was straigth. That was .... so uncomfortable to watch,
I was quite disappointed with the Kate Reina story line Because I thought the writers destroyed something beautiful when they decided To write about Kate desperate for a baby And using Aiden's death as an excuse
Some personal additions, not necessarily went too far but upsetting or disturbing to me. 1. Richard Hillman murders Maxine and attempted to murder Emily Bishop. I thought the aftermath was a bit gory for primetime tv. 2. "Alleged" paedo in Hollyoaks who was a swimming teacher, and Gilly saw him and a little boy walk out of a changing cubicle. That fucking disturbed me for about a week after! Think it was 2007/08 3. Sienna and Dodger Twincest, Hollyoaks. 4. The current Corrie storyline of Paul being groomed by his paedo stepdad. 5. Cameron murders Genny in Emmerdale. That was horrible.
