I am currently student teaching and I have two amazing mentor teachers. I just completed a 4th grade reading and language arts unit where I incorporated a book tasting! The kids loved it and it was a lot of fun! Don’t ever forget that everyday you are in a school is an interview all on it’s own. First impressions are never forgotten! I would love an update on your classroom decor, seating, and any exciting activities! You are truly amazing and your love for children and teaching shines through the lens! Happy teaching! ☺️👩🏻🏫❤️
It sounds like our student teaching experiences were so similar! My mentor teacher is still one of the people I reach out to often and the team I had during student teaching was so amazing. So thankful for them. They made my experience so great.
I spent all last summer watching all of your classroom set up videos, getting myself super pumped to get in the classroom! Now, I’m about three weeks away from starting my student teaching, so I’m going back and watching a bunch of your videos to prepare! Thanks for having such a friendly channel!
Anna Priore Anna this is the nicest comment thank so much! I'm so excited for you! Let me know if you need anything 💛 thanks for supporting in the sweetest way!
@@MrsCallsCampers Thank you so much! I wanted to tell you, I finally got my internship placement yesterday and I got 1st grade! Ahh! Also, my teacher is pregnant and will go on maternity leave the same week I graduate, and the school has offered that I can stay on and take over the classroom fully while she is gone! So after a semester of getting to know the kids and the classroom, I'll be the paid teacher of that room for a few months after. It makes internship feel so different than I expected, now it feels much more real. Thanks again for these amazing tips, I've written them all down for my internship binder to refer back to through the semester!
I love you guys! Let me know what other student teacher-related videos you would like to see, because I'd love to make them for you! :) YOU GOT THIS! Remember you can always reach me on Instagram, too! @mrscallscampers :)
Mrs. Call's Campers I love all of the tips you gave us. I am currently student teaching in a 1st grade classroom, and I would have to agree on the fact that teaching is totally different from the expectation I had prior to starting. I have learned so much from my mentor teacher and from the kids. I love it so far.
Right now I'm a 4th year undergrad and I have had a few student steaching opportunities. However my school (maybe because I am undergrad) wanted me to do strictly observation- no interaction with the kids or teaching lessons. So it was very difficult to not sit back.
Hi there, I love watching your videos! I’m in my year-long internship now and will start teaching next year! I would love for you to make a video on your stem boxes and how you use them! :)
Take TONS of pictures! Be willing to ask for help! Know that the teacher in that room probably knows so much more about teaching than you, and take advantage of it! Try to be proactive and ask what you can do to help! So many things I wish I had done differently during student teaching. But I learned a lot through my mistakes and the mistakes of my cooperating teacher. I would love to be a CT someday to help others become the best teachers they could be!
There's no bad question! I would say no matter what it is, ask it. (And if you can't at that moment definitely write it down to ask later!) I hope your experience is a great one!
In a lot of ways, yes - it's impossible to be fully prepared for teaching no matter what because the students you get are going to be different than any others. I think that my college program did a pretty good job, but the more experience in the classroom - the better!
Hi! I am Karly and I am 15. I am looking into colleges that are great for education and I would love to get more of your insight. I think it would be amazing if you did a give away/ opportunity for young teens like me who are interested in teaching an opportunity to speak to you one on one (like on FaceTime or Skype). I know later on in the future I will be a teacher I know it in my heart and I would love to have an opportunity from you to talk one on one. It would be a great opportunity.
