Problem Solverz was originally pitched to [Adult Swim] first before Cartoon Network itself decided to pick it up. Yes, it was TOO UGLY FOR ADULT SWIM.

Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon is a primary example of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

If you watch several episodes of 12 oz Mouse, you'll notice the audio is very good. The music, sound effects, and voice acting are all pretty much perfect and create a nice atmosphere. The bad animation is definitely done on purpose.

Seeing Steven Universe after looking at the Problem Solverz was like seeing a rainbow after a shit hurricane.

Donkey Kong Country looks so bad because its budget was blown entirely on DK's voluptuous buns.

The Nutshack should be on this list, god that show looks awful. Imagine the already unappealing look of Johnny Test but made 10 times worse.

The paraplegic should be lower on the list, since he had an excuse for it being ugly. Also, no Mr. Pickles? Seriously?

One morning I woke up for breakfast and my mom was like "HONEY I FOUND THIS HILARIOUS SHOW I HAVE TO SHOW IT TO YOU!" It was 12 Oz Mouse.

Wow, I have never heard of John Callahan or any of his work, but he seemed like a cool dude.

Some shows use ugliness well and end up being likable. Out of all the shows I've seen, Problem Solverz is the least appealing to look at. If I were to ever give advice on how to make a show look appealing, I'd say take Problem Solverz and do the exact opposite of everything it does.

problem solverz needs to be number 1. It is the only one that actually physically hurts to look at.

John Callahan had a great art style, and even funnier humor.

IMO 12oz mouse is a funny show, i think the intentionally awful animation adds to the bizarre humor, and yes is a completely legitimate reason to avoid the show but the voice acting is so fucking weird ranging from incredible professional lines to clearly retro scripted deliveries that may have been recorded when the actor was on drugs and/or alcohol, helps the humor to be quite unique

I love how Peter Chung's cartoons have incredibly bizarre anatomy, and it's NOT covered up by a cartoonish style that makes it harder to notice at first glance. The animation is really fluid and pretty to look at, but oh my god, that anatomy.

The visuals of 12 oz. mouse makes it an amazing show. The fact that the creator barely tried to animate, but made it the funnies goddamn show on earth is amazing.

am i the only one that fins dexter's laboratory reboot art style not too far away from the original in quality even if it's not as charming i found a bigger drop in the actual writing than the art style

I always though that Nick cartoons like Rugrats, The Thornberries and Hey Arnold were hideous. I get exaggerating human features in cartoons is normal but, man, adults in those shows were nightmare stuff.

Does anyone remember Sheep in the Big City? The character designs for that show were flat-out bizarre. I was always both weirded out and amused by the show.

I watched 12 oz mouse when it first came out and I have to say it's pretty interesting and surreal. I truly dig how everything looks and the lack of music sets some sort of weird atmosphere I like.

I'm so happy I'm not the only person who remembers Pelswick. Thank you so much for honoring John Callahan. As a kid, I didn't understand Pelswick, there were a lot of things I just didn't get. Although I knew the episode with the trading cards real well since I had my Pokemon addiction. I would watch it because I thought it was interesting having the main character in a wheelchair & there were enough strange things that had me watching the series when I got bored & it was the only thing on. When I grew up, I asked everyone I knew if they remembered a Nickelodeon show about a boy in a wheelchair. Nobody knew what I was talking about, took more searching on Google than I thought it would since I couldn't remember the title for the life of me. All I could recall were a few episodes like one where Pelswick was in the produce isle in a store looking for answers & the trading card one. I also could remember his guardian angel but didn't understand his existence. I just remembered him as the old magical creep that would talk to Pelswick sometimes. I was being too specific with Google & they were bringing up all the wrong things until I just decided to put in cartoon about kid in wheelchair & the Pelswick imbd page was one of the first things that came up. From there, I searched for episodes of the show but the one where the kids had to make puppets of themselves was all I could find. The show was on watchcartoononline but it wasn't working, I couldn't watch any episode at all from there. About a year later, I was telling one of my friends about the show & got curious if the links worked or not & I guess someone reported the problem or something because I was able to watch the entire series. After I had finished, I wondered how the heck I was able to watch that when I was younger but then again, my mom let me watch Whose Line is it Anyway & Animaniacs so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. It was so weird. I understood everything more clear as an adult because I had been there. Growing up with something as small as a mental disability, mine isn't as bad or as extreme but it has put me in a lot of similar positions that's happened in the show. The one I can relate to most would be the episode Draw, just watch that one to anyone curious about the series. It's a good episode. Also, like I said it was weird. Nickelodeon has a thing for crazy grandmothers, Arnold's is probably the one that comes to mind when saying this but Pelswick's grandma is equally as insane. There was an episode where she was making pancakes for everyone & one got caught on the moving ceiling fan so she got up on the table & jumped up & down to try & eat it off the fan. I'm not even joking, that seriously happened. I had to know of the crazy mind that came up with this stuff & that's when I did my research on John Callahan & found out all about him. I'm actually not surprised in the least bit that the show is as strange as it is, he was from Portland Oregon & we have a saying here in Portland, keep Portland weird. Yep, I'm from Portland too, home of some incredible minds. I mentioned Arnold's grandma, well not too long ago I found out the creator of Hey Arnold is also from Portland. I think he's the brother of the guy who created the Simpsons & if you didn't know he's from Portland, you're probably not a Simpsons fan. There's characters in the show named after streets of Portland like Flanders, heck, I got lost with a friend & then he pointed out we were on Flanders & I thought that was funny since he's a major Simpsons fan.

12oz is better than people think

I honestly think that some of the charm behind 12oz Mouse is that the creators couldn't give a shit about what they were making. To quote my grandfather "I have more respect for a guy who can pull something great out of his ass than someone who tries really hard and ends up with a sack of shit."

I would've put "The Life and Times of Tim" somewhere in this video.

I legitimately love 12 oz Mouse's artsyle. Something about it's Oliver Age 24 before Oliver Age 24 style is just wonderful to me... that, or that intro theme is so damn catchy, that I forgive the artstyle entirely.

there are days I thank Pan for bringing exposure to cool shit I haven't heard of or cool shit that I remember fondly then there are days when I see some odd things that probably shouldn't exist. This one was kinda a mixture of both, well done.

12 oz mouse is amazing. It brings a new definition of art. That in truth, with light, there must be unrelenting darkness so that it can mean something.

Cow and Chicken always had one unambiguously awesome trait--it had some of Charlie Adler's best voicework.

I like how you point out that, unlike Nickelodeon who became way too comfortable with easy success, Cartoon Network has never been afraid to fail, which is why they were eventually able to find their footing again in the '10s.

I like to believe that some of these people who originally made the cartoons were so pissed off, disgruntled, or spiteful at the whole world that they just had to parody everything they see in the most visually offensive way possible. Add a shit load of pot and over-worked cartoon network employees and you get Adult Swim. One of the most popular group of assholes on TV. They don't care about their job, they don't care about you, they're going to shit on some paper and put it on the air and you're going to sit there and watch it because you're drunk and high and/or stupid.

When I watched Problem Solverz, it was already bad and each time I watch it,I would gt a headache. Glad this bland,lazily animated, and largely over colored seizure like show was over even before the season was over. The only thing I was more fond of was the Tux dog, that was it.

I didn't mind the new art style for Dexter's Lab. It reminds me of what they did with the Batman Animated series by making everything more angular. But Mandark's Dad vs Dexter's Dad was probably one of my favorite episodes in the series. I'll also throw in my own suggestion for the list: Kablam. What little actual animating it had was pretty bad.
