eggbert that moment was fucked up, just imagine! You thought that you saved them by sending them off to a safe place, but then finding out that you sent them to their deaths/torture
Martha: why are you killing your own kind? Toclafane: because it’s fun hahaha The Toclafane was the kid that said the sky is made of diamonds, one of the darkest moments in Doctor Who
Another great twist I would say is at "Army Of Ghosts" when they build up that something Cybermen related is in the sphere and then at the very end the Cybermen says "the sphere is not our" and everyone gets chills, only for the sphere to open up and you realise it could've have been anyone else.
when I was a kid I remember losing my absolute mind in the first episode of season 4 when the woman Donna talks to turns round to the camera and she's Rose! idk if everyone knew at the time Billie Piper would be back but I feel like those kind of surprises are hard to do these days in tv shows/movies, even tho they're some of the best types of surprises imo
I agree, that was great. I also lost my mind in the 50th anniversary when Tennant's name appeared as I had managed to avoid all the news about him coming back. More recently I've known about characters returning for ages before they do (e.g. John Simm) and it ruins it. I wish the bbc could keep stuff like that secret.
@@iwritearmsracesnotfashions609 the way TV, is going now adays. no one can keep anything a secret. everything sadly gets spoilt. although the BBC's biggest mistake was showing John in the trailer for that episode.
Sorry but the most shocking and awesome moment was at the end of the Day of the Doctor when you think the episode is about to end and then the most iconic voice spoke. Hearing Tom Baker’s voice then seeing the great man still sends chills down my spine.
Really? That was painfully obvious to me. Though I haven't seen the library episode before, so the first time I saw River was in the episode about the weeping angels. It was easier to make the connection
I would have placed Bill on the list - Her death, and the Doctor not being able to save her.He saves everyone. I was sad for them both. This is when I enjoyed Peter Capaldi the most. Now he was coming to the end of his time. The Doctor being wonderful, sad, funny, compassionate and complex. Peter at his most brilliant.
What about the Twelfth Doctor's appearance in 'The Day Of The Doctor'? Fans were pretty sure the classic era Doctors would be utilized somehow in the special. But I don't think anyone expected to see Twelve until his debut episode. 😮
my favourite thing about doctor who is the hints they do in the seasons especially in seasons 1,2,3,4,6 like in three when they mention saxon throughout the season and rose popping up and mentions of ‘theres something on your back’ in season4 and don’t get me started on setting up river from season4 then having to wait until a doctor later to find out who she truly is
@@itookawildcacti6179 I didn't personally get the name thing until it was revealed. But there was a lot of speculation about Amy's baby turning out to be River even without that connection.
NEXT VIDEO: Top 10 Doctor Who episodes that dealt with serious issues: #1 Rosa (Racism) #2 Vincent and the Doctor (Depression) #3 Planet of the Ood (Slavery) #4 The Green Death (Pollution) Et Cetera
The Caves of Androzani (Repsonsibility) The Fifth Doctor almost got Peri killed just to satisfy his curiosity. And it was fitting that he gave the bat milk to her while he almost died himself.
David D The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood (Territorial Dispute): The Silurians originally owned or dominated Earth during the Pangea period before the humans took over and they want it back from the humans.
Yes indeed! Along with "The Silurians" in Season 7 and "Warriors of the Deep" in Season 21. So intense when a battered and bloody Fifth Doctor sees all the dead Silurians and says "There should have been another way"
For me the most unexpected is the unprecedented level of hate and bile directed at series 11 by people unable to cope with change. It wasn’t the strongest series I know but it had really great episodes.
It really didn’t have great episodes in my opinion, mediocre at best. Until the show improves then the fans can complain as much as they want. It’s fair game as far as I’m concerned.
It wasn't a great series but people acting like it was worse than anything doctor who had ever done before is just completely disproportionate They're being hysterical frankly
River Song's true identity I'd suspected for a while, but it wasn't until Amy used the name Melody Pond that I knew for certain. From there it was a simple word association. But man did my jaw drop when I found out I was right. "Spoilers" indeed, lol
"Nobody guessed that Melody Pond was River Song." Uh, WatchMojo, I remember Steven Moffatt getting cranky with the Who community because people had worked it out before the episode had even aired. The episode had no impact on me as I already knew that she was Melody Pond.
Indeed, I recall plenty of predictions on forums that River would turn out to be Melody. Once Melody was kidnapped at the end of A Good Man Goes To War and River immediately turned up I couldn't see any other way the episode could end.
Well a good twist will always have hidden clues pointing towards it which the average viewer misses but someone on a forum will ALWAYS find. That’s no fault of the writer - a shock reveal from nowhere is not remotely as satisfying so there had to be clues. I was a big fan but kept away from forums while the show was airing in those days and my jaw hit the ground at that part! It had been hiding in plane sight all along with the names but so subtly done. It was great
the original regeneration should have been higher up the list, back in the day this was absolutely shocking, and if it didnt work the show never would have seeing the great one at the end of day of the doctor seeing all of the doctors flying in together to save Gallifrey rose at the end of turn left the opening of season nine (who this boy is!) 11/12 regeneration (almost instant, but then he burnt most of the energy destroying daleks and healing his body) the doctor donna was a shock the fact her mind and body couldnt hold it unfortunately wasnt much as he annoyed me Adrics death my thoughts on the subject, in no particular order
I see you tried to dip into older material but you still missed the mark. Adric's death is a legendary shocking moment in the series run. I remember sitting and staring as the credits rolled because I had been so sure the doctor would somehow save the little turd. But no... Adric go boom. I was gobsmacked. Also, the fifth Doctor's death was widely considered pretty shocking. And Perry's death was many times more shocking than Six's violence. That was shocking but her death was just too much. When Teegan left the Tardis was also shocking, but let's face it, death has the edge. I guess y'all just need a list of shocking deaths. Limit it to the current run and you'll still have too many to choose from.
WatchMojoUK it is in the name *UK*. Doctor Who is one of, if not The most famous and bellowed (used to be) UK series and the longest running. It is a cultural treasure. Not surprising a *UK* RU-vid channel cower it a lot.
I was extremely shocked at Tom Baker coming back for The Day of The Doctor so where’s that? Because Tom said he’s not interested in being a part of Doctor Who not even conventions only audio series so should’ve been added to this list
Austin Oetken yeah that was an amazing surprise! Fuck gallifrey still being around - look whose telling you! They did a brilliant job keeping that quiet. I saw that episode in the cinema and the whole place gasped
But John Hurt was already a doctor before day of the doctor. He had a cameo in a film or the series itself after the 8th doctor regenerated into him. But it was just left after that due to unknown circumstances, that's why Christopher Eccleston stepped in and "saved" doctor who
This is a good list. I don't know which one I would bump, but the scenes where Romana-1 regenerates into Romana-2 would one of the 10. Romana-2 has always been my favorite companion.
I got an answer for why 6 put those guys in the acid bath. The first doctor said in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth" he never takes lives unless his is reasonably threatened.
Grace's death shouldn't have been on the list. It was obvious from the beginning she was to die. All the advertisements for the show showed The Doctor and her THREE companions not four. So clearly she wasn't sticking around.
Gallifrey's survival wasn't a shock, at least not at that point. It had been revealed several years prior, in the special The End of Time that Gallifrey still existed
11 shouldnt have been able to regenerate at that point at all, I know its because there was no such thing as the war doctor yet so he would have still had a regeneration but I mean you'd think they would've planned that ahead. But nahhh. And now it just makes it really weird
Unless their bodies were ever recovered, the only thing required about the Mars Colony Bowey One. The only thing required was their loss. The Doctor could have saved them all and then delivered them all to new lives in the future. They lost their 20th century lives and he could have dropped them all off to live lives further away from from Earth and the years they were born. Donna or Rose might have figured that out. Easy pea-sy or whatever.
Oh sod off, #5's regeneration into #6 was one of the most intense regenerations in the show's history. The Doctor could've DIED if not for his persistence to fight evil, that explains how violent #6 was due to the severity of the regeneration. Also, it wasn't 6's fault for that unfortunate scene in Trial of a Timelord - Vengeance on Varos, one accidentally fell in and one was pulled in by the other. The Doctor couldn't save them due to the highly acidic content of the bath in question.
I had a lot of these twists ruined for me. I accidentally watched Journey’s End before The Stolen Earth, thinking that it was the episode after Turn Left, I had seen enough promotional material for Series 6 to know River’s identity, and I watched a compilation of regeneration scenes which included John Hurt, thinking that it would go straight from The Movie to Parting Of The Ways. Although it wasn’t on the list, I also have the cliffhanger from doomsday spoiled for me twice. I watched Army Of Ghosts during its original broadcast, but I was only 7 at the time and couldn’t really follow what was going on, and then when I came back to watch it again when I was 14, I made the same mistake as I did with Journey’s End, not realising that Army Of Ghosts/ Doomsday was a two parter.
Speak for yourself when you say “nobody guessed” Many people who paid attention caught all the clues that were laid out like a trail of bread crumbs. River Song being Melody Pond became very obvious long before it was revealed. The clues were there. More clues than were necessary to figure it out. Many of the others too. At least in modern Who,
Decent list, but TBH Adric's death should've made top 10. I mean the first time a companion was literally killed was a super shock! ... i mean even the title EARTH-SHOCK i mean C'MON !
@@alicebranning738 I haven't seen Vampire Diaries, but it still goes to show that the Doctor definitely hasn't died on screen more times than most fictional characters.
The most shocking moment is: When we see Rory grave's, it said: Rory William Arthur! Not Rory Pond! Even the doctor is surprised that he cry......... Hahahahahha 😂
I am going to guess that who ever made this vid dose not watch Doctor Who much, but the Master was supposed to be dead before the Time War, the 8th Doctor was taking his body someplace. Unless they did not watched the movie.
