i think i know why they thought of the bad box art megaman, cuz in both sf and tekken, theyre like realistic anime (has realistic graphics also has anime graphics) but if the normal megaman is in, hes looks like hes just anime, so they chosen bba megaman, cuz hes like realistic
Yeah. It's like they didn't have the budget to properly pay a guy to do mocap, so they found a guy and told him he'd be in the game if he did the work.
A good pick, but I think Meat does win out of the MK bunch, meta as Mocap is, meat was a touch weirder I feel being based on a bug for a modeling skin used in MK4.
Moai from DreamMix TV World Fighters would definitely be on my list of the weirdest fighters. He's suppose to represent the Gradius series yet he's nothing but an Easter Island head that shots orbs out of his mouth.
I think the Wii fit trainer's pretty cool, though I do wish she had some texture. If you want to see more weird characters, check out the ones from Eternal Champions for Sega CD. Specifically, the unlockable ones.
Voldo is on this list, Platinum is just a magical girl with split personalities, Gon plays like a typical dinosaur with one legendary move, Parappa the Rappa has a conventional fighting style and ROB just missed the list. The only one in this that I agree was overlooked is Faust, and it is almost criminal that they missed him in this list. Faust is easily placed Top 3 in this particular list.
This list seems to go based on weird in design, personality/fighting styles, or odd choices to be added to the game. Platinum as a character is just beyond weird to be in Blazblue. I was going to say Arakune, but he fits in the world. Tao is weird but so is her whole race, so she's not a unique individual. Gon is basically the Oddjob in Golden Eye. He is a random character to be added to the game's playable roster and is so unique and unusual as a playable that you cant beat him using normal options. Parappa's fighting style is all original to PS Allstars. Its not really his own thing. His moveset in general is just a bunch of standard punches and kicks that dont really match him as a character. His skateboard and other random objects he summons for attacks are the only things that are his own. The 3 karate moves he does which are labled as karate something in his moveset are the only fighting moves of his that make sense due to a specific part of his game. Other than that he is an odd addition to that game and his proportions also fit for this list. While not the most weird, he is not a typical fighting game character. He's like game and watch but with color and sound.
ROB isn't even a real game character. He was a very old nintendo accessory that played games with you. He's pretty much a loser's player 2 friend who needs batteries. Wii Fit trainer at least is some one who is Fit and actually makes sense to be a fighter. If anything the koopa kids are weirder imo.
Not gonna lie, Outside Xbox did a much better weird fighting game character list a few years ago; sure, a few of the characters are the same, but damn, did it have better commentary. Also, the complete lack of any Guilty Gear characters in this video is a cardinal sin.
YES!! Yes! I was hoping they'd refer to Fighter's Megamix! The Daytona Hornet is forever etched in my mind as the most unforgettably odd fighting game character from my childhood.....well, right up there next to Deku, the Mexican Green Bean, Kumachan, a stiff floating bear statue, Mr. Meat, a sentient hunk of meat on a bone, and the AM2 Palm Tree......all from this very same game, mind you all...
10: So, are we ever gonna get Greninja in this game? 9: Is this the guy who thought to lock on-disc characters behind a paywall?? 8: I'm always a fan of bringing along some help in a fight. Personas in 4 Arena Ultimax, tag team games, Captain Ginyu bringing along his whole squad... a lawyer's secretary slapping Dr. Doom all to heck. I'm sure you can understand the appeal. 7: Nothing compared to Mokap. It's literally just Karlos Pesina who can shoot balls and you knock the balls off him! 6: This is what I think Dr. Klaw looks like... Sorry, still got Mortal Kombat on the mind from that last entry. 5: Probably the weirdest thing about him is that this is a Capcom character?? 4: So, was Kung Pow adapted from Fighters Destiny? 3: Literally weaponizing Yoga decades before Smash Bros. 2: Well, speaking of Yoga. Oh, yeah, Galeem doesn't stand a chance! 1: Getting rubber burned by a tire seems like the worst fate for a fighter. 11: I don't even know what even...
Fun Fact: During earlier development on the original Super Smash Bros (Which was known as Dragon King) one of the characters Sakurai suggested was going to be and I $hit you not....... Pepsi Man. Also I inexplicably had know idea that Pepsi Man was in fact a Japanese franchise you learn something new everyday am I right? If that wasn't weird as hell Sakurai also wanted Spongebob Freaking Squarepants in Super Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U I wish I was making that up but it's legitimately true.
Aww man. I was so hoping you'd include Peacock from Skullgirls. I mean, a cyborg with 30's era cartoon powers? That's pretty weird. Honorable mentions also should go to the entire cast of the Clayfighter series and Pojo the chicken from Mace: The Dark Age.
Hold it! Phoenix Wright maybe weird as a fighter.. But he's the coolest in this entire list.. Finding evidence to your winning.. man.. surely it's awesome..
You guys missed an opportunity to talk about The Senator from Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side. On top of somewhat resembling Senator Joe Lieberman, his moveset is entirely based on being a politician with great moves like banning violence (which temporarily makes enemies unable to attack), deflecting attacks from behind a podium, and stabbing the enemy with a voting pin.
I think that one of the weirdest fighting game characters has to be Kuma from Tekken. Like, yeah, I know that animals are constant in a lot of fighting games, but the fact the Heihachi taught this bear to understand everyone in the Tekken universe, and taught him to fight is just bizzare to me. Also the strangest thing is that he was wearing a t-shirt and sneakers in Tekken 4. Kinda fun, but so odd.
I feel like Blanka should be on here as the weird Street Fighter character, he's basically Mowgli except raised by Eels which somehow gave him electricity manipulation and then he meets his mom and befriends Dan and Sakura. Q seems more like a mysterious cool type of character.
So I knew Wii Fit Trainer was gonna be on here, but how many were happy to see Voldo on this list, I main him in SoulCalibur and that guy is f**king weird with his moves
How did Tekken not make this list?? You have 2 bears, a kangaroo, a dinosaur, a Dr. Wily-like old scientist, multiple robots, and a neon-clad black guy with an Afro and LED lights on his jumpsuit.
Don’t look at me, I absolutely did not ask for the yoga instructor from Wii Fit in Smash. I also certainly was not one of the few people who reached out to Nintendo to say “Hey Nintendo, can you please put a potted Piranha Plant in Smash?
My honorable mentions: Anthrax The Unicorn (Shrek Superslam) Banana Guard (Multiversus) Barney the Dinosaur (Xenophage Alien Bloodsport) Gooey (Kirby Fighters 2) Hugh Neutron (Nickelodeon All Star Brawl) Piranha Plant (Super Smash Bros Ultimate) The Super Chicken (The Billy And Mandy Game) The Toilenator (Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL)
I'm a bit shocked that Professor X from X-men: Mutant Academy 2 isn't on here. Playing him in his wheelchair leads to some awkwardly hilarious fighting moves.
The last one is not the only game with fighting cars! Enter the Matrix also had a hidden fighting game mode where you could play as vehicles for some reason.
Wii Fit's pretty odd, but I think Duck Hunt was a weird addition. I still can't get over the fact that you can fight as a dog and bird and beat the crap out of the King of Evil with frisbees and Mexicans. Also, Phoenix Wright is in Project X, which is a Capcom game with a bunch of crossovers. I thought it was pretty strange that you could summon Wright and Maya to pummel some demons, but it's got nothing on this example. It's worth noting that they tried to explain why they in a fighting game to begin with - Heihachi from Tekken needs a lawyer because he's being accused of smuggling poison somewhere. It was a bizarre game.
honorable mentions, IMO, should be Dr. Faust (Guilty Gear), Peacock (Skullgirls), Dada (Ultraman Fighting Evolution 3), Alessi (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future), and Eyedol (Killer Instinct)
If you're fighting a giant, fire-breathing turtle, a pink marshmallow that eats people, a pastel-colored mouse that shoots electricity out of it's cheeks, and a 3 inch tall guy who throws plants at you, and people think you're STILL the weirdest fighter on the roster, you need to rethink your life choices.
Seriously, #1 doesn’t surprise me. Any list about weirdest fighting game characters has to have Hornet from Fighters Megamix on it. And it’s justified. Imagine if we got an HD remaster.... 0-0
Shame that War of The Monsters isn't that popular because one of the playable kaijus, Kineticlops, is weird as all hell. He's a giant mass of electricity with a single eyeball as a face. He can turn his arm into an electric whip, shoot his eyeball out like a yo-yo, dribble his eye like a basketball, etc. And remember this guy is a 100ft kaiju. He was also a secret character in a biking game, but the weirdest thing about him is his origin. Kineticlops was once a man working as a security officer at a power plant, but after an alien ship crash landed into some transformers and the fuel merged with the electricity, the poor sap became mutated into a screaming monstrosity.
